After an inexplicable explosion ripped apart the Everfree Forest, the sun that blessed Equestria and its neighboring kingdoms and city-states has evaporated, and Celestia was gone with it. Few remain upon the Earth to ponder if it was mere coincidence, or what was the royal army doing so close to the forest. A unicorn, a griffin, and several uncanny companions begin an epic journey to ask, answer, and cheat the question through will, loyalty, and pure luck: What happened to Equestria?

Hahahaha absolutely perfect ending to the chapter here. I was a little doubtful of this story at first--there's a little bit of awkward wording here and there--but the more I read the more interested I became. I was still a tad lukewarm up until the reveal at the end which is just amazing in every way. I have no more words. I love these kinds of moments. So yes, I'll being watching this one.
EDIT: I guess my comment doesn't really make sense since you split up the chapter, but ah well. It gives me the opportunity to mention that I don't find this part very...um...argh what's the word...oh whatever. I just don't find that it draws me in much... possibly because I was spending my time reading it going 'huh?' and trying to puzzle it out. Actually, I think I skimmed this whole section. Rereading it, I definitely find myself more intrigued, however.
Anyway, still eagerly awaiting more, even if it'll be stuff I've already read.

I'm not sure I quite understand what you mean. I've added several thousand words, but didn't really split the chapter? I've split Chapter 2 into two, but this I haven't cut.
Ooookaaay I don't know what happened. When I made that edit, all I was seeing was the prologue. The rest was missing. Sigh... I'm so confused.
Ever going to keep writing this? It's been sitting in my bookmarks for the longest time; I'm glad it's here, even if I'll have to go reread it because I do not in the least remember what it was about. :B
