Chrysalis's hive has gained three new souls. Not just any mere changelings, but three prophesied for grand things. Indeed, they are unlike any other before them. But just how different will these new changelings be?
8677617 Now that's a great work on the rather stale premise 'reborn as X'. Have my like, track and all that (few) things that I can give here. Eagerly waiting for more, as usual.
You've got one right, the second's a close guess, and the other's completely off the mark.
But I submitted my story to the Good HiE list, because this is technically a story of three humans in Equestria. Obviously they're not in their normal form, but they are still human in spirit.
Good intro, but it seems to me that it was adapted from a first-person perspective tale and a few spots got missed, such as:
Only one of them, the one with green eyes, was the focus attention of the insects including the other companion. For its part, the little white thing began to move towards me, only to stumble and fall forwards. A new wave of concern crashed upon me as the two large insects besides the smaller one closed in to assist, their solid eyes going wide.
Had Monty the time, he would have been more amazed by just how much emotion those faces could show. Right then however, his attention was on the small creature that was struggling to get on its feet. It lashed a limb at one of its larger kin, almost as if it was refusing the help provided.
Once it had managed to bring its muzzle to my level, it spoke again.
Amazing so far, just one thing (And Sorry if the question has an obvious awncer) I got a little confused, what one was the Spanish speaking one? I just need that cleared up is it Monty or his companion?
So, as a summery for those who got a little lost with who was who. The English speaker Monty is the warrior, the Worker hasn't spoken yet, and I think the Spanish speaker was the smart one that took a long time in the last chapter as Chrysalis stated he was special. The Spanish speaker was named Ferris by Chrysalis but we don't know the real names for the silent worker or the Spanish speaker.
a little Clarification and answers for this and the inevitable realization that they're female now in the next chapter of: Unlike Any Other
8678954 Ah, sorry I missed that, but I expect a lucky bastard comment aimed at him in the future... unless he was also gender swapped. As in he was a female before becoming a changeling. Now I'm looking forward to the next chapter even more. So many questions.
The Drone was a former stage actor. The Worker was a medical professional or scientist of some sort. Leaning more towards scientist. The Warrior was a firefighter of some type. Maybe even a smoke-jumper?
Nice beginning, I'm gonna enjoy reading this further.
8678409 I agree with the author - Lost little wolf is much more like this one.
8678954 Firstly, great beginning you have here. Secondly, I thought you got your inspiration from another much more underappreciated story - Three professors conquer equestria. Still, besides many similarities - this story has absolutely different take on "three human souls in Chrysalis hive ". She is much more lovable here. Carry on!
8681039 Well, I wouldn't say that "Three professors conquer equestria." is in any way, shape or form underappreciated. The premise has merit, but the execution falls off so much that I, for example, has dropped it after reading the first chapter to never return.
Pacing issues, too much random (and pointless imao) stuff, lack of characterization added by mediocre writing skills. *Shrugs* It just reads as an intended comedy where I fail to see any jokes as funny. And also, if I see 'Chrysalis' tag, I expect to see her as a major acting character, not a plot device.
So this story for starters has a rather unique idea to it and portrays that there are three changelings with the minds and personalities and have their memories, which is weird because they actually probably would not remember their past lives. Not only that but the way you potrayed Monty is an award in itself.
I actually see Monty as some sort of authority figure or a soldier. Or better yet someone who had a bad experience and trained because of it. Im guessing that Monty was the guy holding th axe in the story art and did some things worthy of “Heroic”.
Also the way you potrayed the “Bursting” is what i will call it. They have the instincts of changelings but they don’t trust them. I like the fact that you added the fact that they are of different languages and stuff.
My rant is over thank you for reading it im going to stop now.
The second intake wavered almost instantly and her voice cracked. Sobs soon overwhelmed the large changeling, her legs buckling under her own weight, and she collapsed to the ground. Ears folded, she brought up a hoof to stop herself, but she couldn't stifle her tears or her whimpers.
____________ A firefighter, an actor, and a scientist die heroically and are hallowed in death...
Alright, since everyone else seems to be doing it, I'll make my guesses about the three humans. The warrior, Monty, was a firefighter. Farris, the drone, was either an actor or a scholar of literature, since the stereotypical Macbeth pose could apply to either one. And the final one is tough. She hasn't said anything, and the silhouette is vague, but it looks like there's a lab coat and a clipboard of some sort, so I'll say either a doctor or scientist for the worker. We'll see if any of that changes as the story goes on.
But anyway, overall I really liked the story so far. You've got a really good setup here, and I really like the detail you've put into the setting and the characterization of both Chrysalis and the three humans so far. About the only complaints I can think of are the fact that the scene from Monty's perspective after he breaks out of the cocoon is confusingly worded and could use some tweaks for the sake of clarity, and in this bit here:
Seeing this, her lips confidently turned upwards in a lopsided smile. This was the Chrysalis that he knew and cherished.
This story is oddly similar to one I started writing last year. It also had three humans become changelingsin Chrysalis's hive, though they were college professors. This one is just better written than mine.
And now for something different.

Bonus Points for Chryssie's characterization.

Also i read all of this before but i wanted to leave your comment so you have your daily love needs sated.
An archeologist, a firefighter, and a doctor? Heck, you're halfway to the Village People.
Not sure why this story is submitted to the Good HiE list, though.
8677700
Thanks again!

You've got one right, the second's a close guess, and the other's completely off the mark.

How... jarring.
But I guess thats the cliche.
8677717
My guess is going to be a theatre actor, a firefighter, and a nurse.
This story has quite a bit of potential. You have a knack for this whole writing thing, author!
This story begins quite similarly to Gilded Sister. Did you get any sort of inspiration from that?
Well now, this certainly looks interesting.
8678409
Humans waking up as a changeling (or any being for that matter) isn't a very common trope, but it's certainly not unknown on this site.
The picture on the story gives me deja vu. Like I have seen that kind of placement before with silhouettes and everything.
Wow a marvelous job. I could feel my heart racing after reading this.
Definitely reading this one.

Oh.
Oh.
Now this is something. This is something that needs to be read.
And whichever one's the actor is going to be a natural at this!

First off:
AaaaaaaaaaAAA! Thanks for the feature everyone! You have no idea how much seeing my story on the front page made my day.
8677882
Most 'body shift' stories tend to be jarring.
8678012
You're close! Very close.
8678256
Second chapter's being worked on as I type this.
8678394
Aw, shucks. Thank you kindly.
8678409
This is actually closer to PrincessColumbia's Little Lost Wolf, though I can see why you compared it to Gilded Sister.
8678504
Glad that you find it to be interesting.
8678616
Really? I've seen plenty of silhouette-style covers, but I don't think I've seen one in a similar arrangement and composition to mine.
8678659
Glad that my writing got your heart pumping.
8678677
I do too.
8678786
Nah, that's more of a result of me writing when I ought to be asleep. Thanks for pointing them out.
8678801
DAUNTEDSUPERIER put it rather succinctly.
8678856
I wouldn't be too sure about that.
8678868
...well, you're mostly right.
That could've gone better.
Poor Chryssie, hopefully they eventually manage to communicate.
8678954
Ah, sorry I missed that, but I expect a lucky bastard comment aimed at him in the future... unless he was also gender swapped. As in he was a female before becoming a changeling. Now I'm looking forward to the next chapter even more. So many questions.
Ah yes...the feeling of I DIDN'T FALL ASLEEP HERE, WHERE THE FUCK AM I? brings back such pleasant memories.
Has potential. Let's see where this new road leads...
Time to put in my silhouette guesses.
The Drone was a former stage actor.
The Worker was a medical professional or scientist of some sort. Leaning more towards scientist.
The Warrior was a firefighter of some type. Maybe even a smoke-jumper?
8678954
Can be. Doesn't have to be.
Damn that ending, it hurt. Following and anxiously waiting for more
8678868
Thanks for clearing that up
the story was good

Ooh, that is an interesting take. You've definitely got me to read it, so thanks for pointing me to the story.
Well you have me hooked. Tracking now.

So here goes my rant.

Oh. I see.
Yes, let's see where this goes.

An absolutely stunning start.
Incredible... I need more

Ok. Sorry for being a slight nuisance. It's just that I love the story.
