Of course the story hit the news.
It ran for a week. How a single high school student, after being framed as a cyberbully, launched what was essentially a terrorist attack against her high school, maiming and even permanently crippling her former schoolmates before mysteriously dying.
Many shook their heads. It was impossible, they said! A single girl did that? At the very least she had to have had help! And what about that mysterious green dome? And how did she die? Did she kill herself? And what was all that talk about magic and she-demons? Was there a cult involved?
On the 5th day, it got even more mysterious.
Commissioner Swift Order gave a startling interview in front of Police Headquarters.
"The CCPD had an autopsy done on Sunset Shimmer's body. The coroner found signs of internal bleeding and assault. They concluded, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Sunset had been dead for six hours before the attack on Canterlot High."
The reporters were shocked into silence, before one stepped forward. "Are you saying that someone murdered Sunset, and then dressed up as her to frame her for the attack?"
Swift Order shook his head. "This is the strangest case I have ever dealt with. At this point, someone could say aliens did it, and I'd believe it given enough evidence. Here's what I know for absolute certain - unless Sunset managed to somehow come back from the dead, there is no way she committed this crime."
And of course, that just raised more questions. How did Sunset's body get in the school? And if she didn't do it, who did?
Two days later, several students came forward, insisting they had evidence that it was in fact Sunset Shimmer who did this. However, when the police looked through their phones, all they saw were blank images.
"This is preposterious! Trixie is telling you Sunset Shimmer did this!"
"And you know this for certain? You saw her attacking the other students?"
"Of course not! Trixie was hiding in the basement with everyone else!"
"....So, if you never actually saw Sunset attacking anyone, and you have no other proof aside from what you've heard, how do you know for certain it was actually Sunset?"
"........Trixie is going home now."
The police did interview the victims of the attacks but, understandably, they weren't very helpful. The ones that actually talked all said the same thing - that Sunset Shimmer was the culprit, and that she had used magic to hurt them.
They searched the school for any kind of clue. For a gas leak. For hallucenagenic gas. They searched for weapons. They found nothing.
Eventually, they decided to follow another lead - finding Sunset's killer.
They started at her apartment. Or rather, the charred remains of her apartment. Amazingly, the flames didn't spread to the other apartments; it had been contained somehow. They found nothing but ash.
Two days later reports came in of two teenagers found near the highway, both suffering from dehydration and frostbite. One was cradling a broken hand, and the other was blind and raving.
"We had to medicate her heavily. When they found her she was raving about parasites in her head. Kept trying to claw her face."
The officers nodded and left to speak with the boy.
He burst into tears when they entered his room.
"'m sorry. 'm so sorry! We just wanted to teach her a lesson! We just wanted her to stop!"
The officers looked at each other with raised eyebrows.
"Are you Rainbow Dash?"
The girl in question turned to look at them. She looked like she'd seen better days.
"Yeah. I am." she monotoned.
"Turn around please."
She complied with no hesitation.
"Rainbow Dash, you are under arrest, for conspiracy to commit assault, and as an accomplice to the murder of Sunset Shimmer. You have the right to remain silent. If you give up that right, anything you say...."
"Over thirty students maimed. Several permanently disabled. One student dead. Beaten to death by those same students in the school's gymnasium. Those students are now facing the possibility of juvie. All over a slander campaign set up by three other students. All under your watch.
We have been very lenient with you, Celestia. We sat back and allowed you to run the school as you saw fit because we believed you had your students' best interest at heart. But this, we cannot ignore. This tragedy should never have happened. There should have been actions taken to prevent this from occuring. Actions you failed to take. What do you have to say for yourself?"
Celestia just sat there. What could she say?
The elder woman sighed. "You have a week to clear out your office. Meeting adjourned."
The Dazzlings were watching the news, each had their own reaction.
"Sunny's dead?" Sonata asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"A pity she didn't take those bitches with her." Aria said bitterly, shaking her head.
Adagio merely stroked her pendant, deep in thought.
Part 1 is done, now waiting for the second part. Hope to learn Sweetie Bell's is now alive again or flesh, sounds like she is. They only mention Sunset being Dead.
Celestia lost her job now, i hope Luna takes over, this way she can deal with the three, and expel them.
Also hope Pinke is alive, really hope she is, thou Maude may say her piece to the others and maybe blame the CMC for causing all this to happen.
Is Adagio thinking on helping out? Probably not a chance in hell. And what about Rarity and her Midas touch? And Sweetie Belle being gold?
Oh aria, there some things far worst then Death.

You'd think for living a thousand years she'd know that. Maybe that's why she's a jackass so she can hide the pain.
This chapter really made me realize how big of a mess Sunset left behind while she was on the warpath.
I only can feel sorry for Celestia in this moment, she'd really tried to do her best in order to fix this mess - HER mess as well - yet it wasn't enough. Whatever she'll do from now it is unknow.
It is just the begining for the many consequences to coming.
So either Sunset was openly possessed by something or magic-something-after-death. Either way, this winding to a close now. I'll probably give my final thoughts when the last chapter rolls in. It's been a fun ride, if not a strangely surreal one.

The dark magic that corrupted her soul prolonged her death. But sooner or later she would have succumbed to the internal damage caused by the beating. Her fate was sealed the moment she walked into the gym.

To be honest it gave me a Doctor Who vibe from the Unquiet Dead. Might just be false parallels on my part, but it was an interesting detail.
So, basically Sunset was just a revenant and she died before she turned into a demon. The magic just kept her animated and her desire for payback was what allowed her to live long enough to inflict all that rightfully deserved pain on others. It would have for the students to logically pin it all on Sunset, even claiming it was magic, but the evidence speaks for itself. Rainbow Dash is off to juvie. She did not fight back, which makes sense. She's just so broken. Maybe the curse Sunset put on them has been lifted, but even so the damage has been done. But then again if the curses remain, it's what they deserve. It's a living hell.
Celestia has to be made accountable for what happened. She's the principal and the school and its students' welfare are her responsibility. Besides the assailants and the Crusaders, all the people who sent in secrets to Anon-A-Miss must also be made to pay and also suffer for what happened. Any chance for grief counseling or trauma counseling?
For Fluttershy, her brother and parents must be looking for her, right?
I'm glad Sunset found peace, even if it was in death. It's a sad ending but you did warn us that it won't have a happy ending. The Rainbooms lost two of their friends because of their ignorance, Rarity lost her sister, and Apple Bloom will lose the trust of her family and peers. And for what? Just because of one Slumber Party? Well, let them reap what they sow.
The bit with Celestia makes me sad, but it's understandable. I about cheered at everything else, though dead Sunset Shimmer kinda sucks. Poor baby, she was dead for six hours. Welp. I can't wait for part 2. Loving this fix so much!
Fascinating
Damn.
This is why smartphones need to be banned in schools.

And all because three little brats were jelaous.
Currently this still stands as my favorite set of dialogue in the story.
Well, Canterlot High has ruined itself. The students had refused to see the good Sunset did, and continued to see her as a she-demon. They stubbornly clung onto the past and their beliefs, refusing to see or believe otherwise. And then they were manipulated, strung along by three jealous students taking advantage of their hatred and mistrust. They saw what happened as an excuse to act on what they wanted to. To finally take revenge on the one that they believed to wronged them. To get rid of the supposed monster once and for all.
But they were dead wrong. All of them were. And now they will never have the chance to fix their wrongs. None of them will.
This is where the story of a school of Magic and friendship ends.
For Sunset, even if there was a smallest chance that she could had found a way out of her fate, I don’t think she would had wanted that. I get the impression she found what she had wanted all along in her final moments; A true friend that stayed by her side, and the peace she never had.
As for the students of Canterlot, they will now have to spend the rest of their lives with the scars that were inflicted because of their mistakes. Scars that will never fade away along with the memories of what caused all this. For a few, I think they will eventually find something close to closure if they find the help they need to achieve that.
Although for certain students ,the darkest pit of living hell has already opened and swallowed them whole. And regardless of what they do now, they are NEVER getting out.
Twilight, well, I hope she can forgive herself for what happened. She had no idea that all of this was going to happen. She thought she was leaving a friend in good hands. Hands that she had helped and guided in the past. And then those hands shut Sunset out and condemned her to death. Even after what ultimately became of Sunset, Twilight refused to abandon her friend and kept her faith in her. She may not have been able to save Sunset from the mob back then. But she was able to save her now. She gave Sunset what she wanted in the end. I hope Twilight will realize that someday and forgive herself.
This tragic tale is over. For Sunset, for Twilight, for everyone. No more magic, no more friendship.

(stunned silence)
(starts clapping)
(looking behind me) Clap, dammit!
(claps harder)
8606563 Damn....damn. That was perfectly said. ^^
8606705
I take it you really liked what I said, huh?
8606804
What can i say? I love the FNAF franchise.
Also, WHY AREN'T YOU PEOPLE CLAPPING?!
8606811
This is what happens when you binge watch the good ending to Pizzaeria Simulator..Though you gotta admit, what I said is true.
8606819
Couldn't have said it better myself.
8606811
Sorry, my bad.
*Starts clapping*
8606563
*claps*
that was well said
so Sunset used magic to create parasites, put them inside Gilda's head and they made her blind?
8602904
And why they need IT people like my dad or my technology teacher to monitor everything.
8610063
Sounds nasty.
9222461
There are no parasites. Sunset has not only taken Gilda's sight, but has messed with her other senses. She is essentially hallucinating. She cannot see, but she can hear and feel things that aren't actually there.
By the time the magic has worn off, Gilda has gone completely insane.
9222542
is the blindness permanent
WOW. holy shit!
they literally killed her. they beat her to death. she was just a corpse animated by dark magic. or maybe she was half-dead? either way...damn.
9331337
Yes and no.
The beating was severe enough to cause damage to her insides. The dark magic was enough to prolong her death, but even if Twilight had not shown up, she would have eventually succumbed to her injuries.
9331859
is that what the black veins spreading throughout her body were, to symbolize how much time she had left?
8606563
here's hoping those certain students don't keep the devil waiting
8601882
Indeed, it was obvious that Sunset wanted them to suffer. The dead don't suffer.
8606563
End communication.
