Adagio Shimmer

Adagio is best siren, but I accept the viewpoints of others.

T

At the Battle of the Bands the Sirens were beaten, bested by the power of seven girls and their friendship. Adagio, her power broken for the first time in her long life, fled from the scene and separated herself from her annoying sisters. After some time she returns to the place of her defeat, where she accesses the portal that should take her home... though instead she ends up in a world that's in the middle of a civil war.

She'll have to rely on whatever skills she has left, and pick up some new ones, in order to survive in this world... especially when dragons, vampires, and who knows what else start attacking innocent people. And maybe, just maybe, she'll redeem herself for all of the acts she committed in her long life.

Wait... another story where another one of the Sirens goes to Skyrim?
Oh, I am so keeping an eye on this.

So Sonata's story had her land and befriend the Imperials, but Adagio's has her land, miss a week of her life, and encounters the mages of the College of Winterhold?
Well, I'd like to see where this leads.

Spellsword implies that Adagio will be using a main hand weapon and a spell. This also makes me wonder when in the timeline she appeared, as in before Alduin showed up or after Helgen's destruction.

Hmm... yet another interesting crossover to add to my library. I am interested in seeing what Adagio does with her second chance at life.

Interesting to say the least since this is just the starting chapter there's not much to critique in terms of story or characters so I'll try to assess what you've got and done so far. Firstly not sure why Adagio left her sisters to rot and try to head home all by herself I hope that you address that in future chapters. Other than that I don't think I see any glaring problems with characters. Even though a cross over with Skyrim has been done before I look forward to seeing how you do it.

Huh... another Siren visits Tamriel. Going to have to see where this goes.

Hello J'zargo, my old friend. You know, this makes me wonder when in Skyrim's history Adagio landed in, before Alduin or after his awakening.

Oh Adagio, what have you gotten yourself into this time?

Savos Aren knows that Adagio is lying about something... though the question is if he's going to call her out on that later.

8068661 Well, every Skyrim story starts before Alduin's return. The real question isn't if Alduin has awakened or not, its how much time Adagio has until Alduin appears and starts burning everything.

8073628 True. I will admit that I did not consider the fact that she might have arrived well before the events of Helgen. We shall only know the truth when, and if, the author decides to tell us.

You know, I just noticed an odd parallel between my Skyrim story (which has Sonata in it), because I make reference to Adagio and Aria showing up before she did, though the two sisters went to the College of Winterhold.... and the Adagio in this story is at the College of Winterhold.

I'm not mad, even if it was intentional, because I think this is a decent beginning story for a beginning author.

I wouldn't be surprised if Aria Blitz also makes a Dazzling in Skyrim at some point. Sonata's some sorta mage and 'Dagi's a spellsword? It would be interesting to learn what kinda fighting style Aria would do. Does Sunset even HAVE a fighting style?

8092129 So, 'Dagi's inspired by Sonata, who in turn wrote hers after BD Rose and erised... I'm sensing that this chain of Skyrim crossovers may have some continuity.

8092317 One person writes one, then a second, then before you know it there's a larger number writing their own spin on a Skyrim story. I think Aria mentioned writing one at some point, and I could be wrong on that, but I'm curious as to what her style would be.
Sonata=Mage
Adagio=Spellsword
Aria=???
Sunset=Mage

8092330 Aria might write a Skyrim crossover, might not. Who knows?

8092339 Well, she is the last siren to not write a story... and I hope she does at some point.
Important question though; when in the story line of Skyrim is this taking place? As far as I can determine, I think before Alduin's arrival, but I can't be sure.

8092343 It wouldn't be Skyrim if Alduin wasn't involved in some form. In all the Skyrim EG crossovers, I've noticed that the Civil War was pretty much treated like a background event.

8092355 Actually, there's something that would set Aria's story apart (if she every got around to it); make the war the major focal point or something, and put the Dragonborn in the background! Role reversal!

8092365 That would be interesting, seeing as I've never seen a Skyrim crossover with the Dragonborn as a background character. I still hate Maven Black-Briar, though.

8092402 I don't think anyone likes her at all. But in the world of fan writing, anything is possible... maybe even the death of Maven Black-Briar!

Adagio's got to be happy to have some magic back in her blood.

After a week of sleeping, and barely an entire day of recovery, Adagio should be glad to have even an ounce of her power back... especially when I'm sure that it should take longer for something like this to happen. Though considering how quickly Sonata regained her powers, and then some, I shouldn't be surprised by what this siren is capable of.

8092402
8092407 You guys never know, I could be working on one at this very moment. :trixieshiftleft: :trixieshiftright:

I have to wonder what the Arch-Mage is hoping to learn from Adagio when she 'gets' her memories back.

Ah, it seems that she has begun to use magic... soon she'll come seeking the knowledge that my master hoards... they always do.

8093504 Oh ahead, write to your heart's content... I look forward to adding it to my library, whenever you post it.

I'm not going to lie, but I'm curious as to why Adagio would suddenly up and leave her sisters behind... unless there's a fight or something that we aren't aware of yet.

And the apprentices make their appearance. I wish the chapters were a little longer, but I make due with what we're given.

See Adagio? Your magic isn't as broken as you think it is.

It seems that Adagio is quickly adapting to her new life... and apparently her new friends.
Though I'm a little shocked that she arrived two months before Alduin did... mainly because every Skyrim story I've seen has the character arriving a day or two before the black dragon's return.

Its actually good to see that she's adjusting to her new life, especially after Aria apparently had a massive fight with her and cast her out.

8104416 Variety is always a good thing.

Is the 17th of Last Seed the canon date? I ALSO didn't know that life before Alduin was a thing.

8104430 In the official elder Scrolls timeline Alduin's return is on that date... and I know, its shocking to see what ordinary lives people had before the return of the World-Eater!

Interesting... Adagio showed up before the return of Alduin... very interesting.

10 likes already, with no dislikes. I'd say you're doing a great job.

hoping that she hadn't accidentally unleashed some magical entity that was better left alone.

Oh don't worry, that comes later.

Well now, its odd to see that Adagio is actually making friends and has developed a nicer persona than in the movie. I approve of this.

8119944 Oh yeah, that definitely will be coming up later on.

Dang cliffhanger... I wanted to see Adagio's reaction to meeting the Psijic Monk and learning that she had, in some way, set in motion the end of the world. Oh well, I can settle for waiting.

So far this story has my attention... though next chapter we'll get to see Adagio's reactions to the draugr.

Personally, I expected the fight to be a little longer... but I guess this is to be expected when your opponent has been sleeping for hundreds of years, doesn't exercise his skills at all, and let's four apprentices beat the stuffing out of him.
Though Adagio made no mention of being able to read the Word Wall... that might be a problem for Skyrim.

8124533 Maybe she didn't notice?

8124533 Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Dragonborn not get their shout until they killed their first dragon? Maybe that's why she can't read it.

8124982 Its possible. In the other stories the first wall encountered is always inside Bleak Falls Barrow, so its possible that she didn't know the significance to the wall in the first place.

8125043 From what I've seen in the game the Dragonborn can 'hear' the words without actually having killed a dragon, though they start learning Shouts after the first one they kill. I only mean that if Adagio cannot 'hear' the words then maybe she isn't the Dragonborn.

8125092 Possible. It wouldn't be the first to go that route.

8125120 I believe the other story that operates in such a similar fashion in the one called the 'Changeling Soulstroke' or something like that. Interesting story that one is, and we might see some familiar pieces in this one.

8125129 In Soulstoke, the main changeling doesn't even become the Dragonborn until after he spends a while with the actual Dragonborn. It would be cool if 'Dagi became Archmage, though,

8125129 It is, and now I'm curious how this one will play out.

8125147 Based on how its starting I believe that the author might go for Adagio being the Arch-Mage alone... meaning that she'll be helping the actual Dragonborn when the time comes.

8125166 I think the author will go for her character not being the Dragonborn, though we shall see in time.

8125195
It would be logical. She isn't from the elder scrolls world and that means she can't be dragonborn.

So Adagio can't read the Word Wall or hear the chanting of the ancient words...
:pinkiegasp: Does that mean that she NOT the Dragonborn?

I think its obvious that Adagio's not the Dragonborn, though I'll wait and see what happens when she finally meets and kills her first dragon.
