I'm sorry about the impromptu hiatus. May ended up being rougher on me than I expected. Nothing that can be done about that, though. I'll do my absolute best to keep the schedule until the end of the story. Cheers, everyone!
Heh, it's good to see that someone else realizes how well the show did in selling Maud and Mudbriar's relationship. I maintain that it's one of the show's crowning achievements that they managed to create a character that's designed to be hated by everyone, and make us genuinely believe that he could be in a loving relationship with a beloved side-character.
I'm glad to see that you've managed to capture the spirit of their relationship in this fic, too. Really good chapter, and really good character interactions.
“Technically,” Mudbriar interjected, “we were the pets.”

Fuck, that got me good! This was a great chapter, loved the metaphors and the good advice. Wishing Starlight tons of luck with her next steps.
“Oh, and I hope Twilight doesn’t kill you for hooking up with her little brother while she was away!”
Also DAMN Rainbow! That's messed up. I'm hoping Twilight's potential rage ends up being a "we worried for nothing" ordeal and she congratulates them. One can hope
9668367 No worries. Whenever you are able to get out the chapters is fine -- just gives us something to look forward to! And I agree, especially after seeing the episode that will be airing later today, that Maud and Mudbriar seem to be the most into each other out of any couple I have seen; though, I would say the Big Mac and Sugar Belle are very close in the running, too.
I found this line in the story to be kind of funny:
“Oh, and I hope Twilight doesn’t kill you for hooking up with her little brother while she was away!”
On one hand, I'm thinking that if it came to that, Starlight had held her own against Twilight before. But then I remember something Starlight herself said about magic being fueled by emotions. Makes me wonder how Starlight would fare against a ticked-off Twilight. Rainbow Dash is such a troll, though.
9668569 I have a confession to make: I kinda like Mudbriar. Not sure why, I just think he's an interesting individual, and I wish him the best. But yeah, his relationship with Maud is amazing, and I'm glad I managed to carry that same feeling with this chapter.
9669163 9669164 There is always reason for worry! That Starlight is purposefully doing her best to not think about how will Twilight react doesn't do much to actually assuage her worries. And thanks for the good wishes.
9669380 Back when they had their little showdown, Twilight wasn't aiming to kill. One has to wonder what she'd be capable of doing if she were to just let loose. Hopefully Starlight won't have to deal with that. Hopefully.
9669854 Even if it was a bit predictable, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone! See you in two weeks.
Still enjoying the story, but to be honest the pacing at this point feels glacial. To put it another way, it seems like there's an issue with having too much pointless filler that doesn't really advance anything. The last nearly half a dozen chapters have been so similar in so many ways that they just sort of blurred together, and by the time I finished catching up I feel like literally nothing has happened despite going through tens of thousands of words. You could probably take out half of the last few chapters and lose nothing of any importance.
So, yeah. The story is definitely well written and the characterization is pretty good, but the plot is meandering. Like, excessive to the point of irritating levels of meandering.
9748980 I know! I'm so sorry. I've just barely had the time and motivation to just sit down and finish the last chapters. Things have been rough lately, but I'm trying to make some time so I can just focus on finishing. Believe me. Nobody wants to see this story finished more than me.

Aww, sorry to hear you had a rough month. Hope June treats you better
Oh, how I missed this story. Another great chapter and more awesome advice and support. It's just going to make the date and sex so rewarding!

What does it say that, when they mentioned pet play with boulder and twiggy I immediately knew who the pets were?
Trixie is completely shameless. Wonder if it will pay off.
I really like the stone and cedar.

Yeah, today's episode pretty much confirmed your theory on the maud couple.

That almost sounds like a subtle challenge for any artists here to make that happen.

I'd love to see Spike's perspective at some point, but I believe Starlight will make sure we get some soon
Really good writing, you got a fan
So...just kinda giving up in the “bi-weekly updates”?

That’s good (I guess) to hear. I’ve seen a lot of Sparlight stories, but yours is definitely one of the best

Take all the time you need!
You've made a story worthy of the wait and you're doing this out of your own free time.
