Hello again maltrazz. How on earth do you keep writing such good stories that pique my interest?

"You should be more carefully, Scootaloo, somepony could have been hurt."

only error i could find in my read through.

7645100 There's a reason I got nicknamed 'The Plotsmith'. Shame I can't bring all my ideas to fruition!

Fixed it, thanks!

So, is this a Fire Emblem crossover?

Great start to the story! Can't wait for more!!! But I... can't, upvote...:raritydespair::raritycry:

I don't know Fire Emblem but the story is very enjoyable and seems very promising to me. I might get a look at this game.

Now that explain why conflicting futures reminded of something, well let me say bravo it's the second time i leave you a review in one of your stories and in this one I love it, like your other stories but the idea of Awakening in MLP is excellent (Mainly because i love the fire emblem series since the game boy era), this story will be in my top 5 favorite to read beside other two of your stories.

7645887 Not a full crossover, but definitely heavily inspired by it.

7646649 While I can't speak for all the other games in the series, Awakening is absolutely fantastic. That said, I plan to write this so that no knowledge of the game is necessary, as it is not technically a crossover.

7646349 Thanks, I'm sure you'll be able to eventually.

7647262 Good to see you back, and glad to hear it! Yup, Shadow Caster from Conflicting Futures is actually from this story, and if you've played Awakening, then you may recognize her sooner than most. :raritywink:

7649692 Interesting, I'll be keeping an eye on this. A few words of advice (having not read any of your past works, and not necessarily related to this chapter but writing Awakening in general):

-M tags: while Awakening is a game about pretty much nothing but war and romance, it's still rated T. Stepping the rating up can be important if you want to capture the seriousness of the topic, but be sure to keep it tasteful- do it for the drama, never to be gross.

-Pacing: pretty much every one of my favorite game-based fics shares the feeling that it still is a game. Want to add a small plot arc, or maybe a new character? Introduce a location, send the heroes there, introduce characters, have a big battle, then break back to character development and then more plot. That'll say "Fire Emblem" harder than just about anything else you can do. There's also small things like treating characters as if they have inventories ("I'm not sure I can hold all this!") and getting someone a new suit of armor around when they'd promote. Don't overuse any of these, though; you only need a little bit to get the feeling across.

-Avoid copying/playing out the supports from the game. Coming up with original character interactions can be hard, but using the existing ones is just filler to people who played the game, comes across as lacking confidence in your own ideas, and strays nearer to plagiarism, which is already a gray area for fics.

-For similar reasons, avoid directly copy/pasting any sort of text from the game (with the exception of memes, if you can make them funnier and it's appropriate).

-If you bring in OC party members, they'll help avoid the big, hairy mess that comes from eventually shipping ponies with canon personalities who are currently role-playing as someone else from the game. If you go a step further and have them be complete OCs, not resembling anyone from the game, either, you get the added benefit of having more natural-sounding names and completely avoiding any characterization issues from the first point. It's also more work, though.

-If there are OCs modeled directly after the game, though, show favoritism. If you don't, and try to treat them all equally, it'll be obvious. The story will be better if you write who you like and give more time to the important characters, and nobody will mind if character X is relegated to background pony.

-Quadruple-check your time travel to make sure everything makes sense. A fic I had very high hopes for hit a massive sour spot when the author tried to patch a plot hole that didn't actually exist, and wound up with a plot arc that was not only bleh, but meta-pointless. I have a lot of knowledge on obscure Awakening lore, so if you ever need something cross-checked, shoot me a PM!

7649897 Thank you for the advice, but there are a few things to keep in kind.

Rating: The rating system used for games and the rating system on this site do not necessarily match up. Especially in regards to violence, I bumped this up to 'M' mostly to be on the safe side.

Game content: This is not actually a crossover, and as such is being written for those only familiar with MLP. That said, while some content will be reiterated, I do have an original plot already planned, and don't plan to use any of the game characters, having half a dozen 'next gen' characters already designed.
If you want to know more about said OCs (at risk of spoilers) you can see them here: http://maltrazz.deviantart.com/art/MLP-Awakening-Next-Gen-597303901

Hopefully that addresses any immediate concerns

7649937 All right, cool. Like I said, I'm a little lacking in context, so most of those are generalizations addressing common problems with Awakening works, rather than specifically directed at this story. :scootangel:

I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this!

As I've said before I'm not generally a fan of amnesia related plots but this has piqued my interest. In all your stories, Sombra never knew who Twilight was initially but this one seemed to, at least before the memory loss. At a guess he's probably come back in time and the process caused the amnesia though that begs the question of where present Sombra is?

I don't really buy him just remembering his name when he didn't mere moments ago though I'm glad little miss overpowered not Sunset is out of the way for a few chapters at least. I'm also pretty sure Twilight would be able to hear a battle going, the Everfree isn't that far from Ponyville.

Above all else though I wonder how salty Black and Zamasu (Dragon Ball Super villains) are that another "mortal" travelled through time at least assuming my guess is right anyway. :trollestia:

Good start though, haven't played the game in question but I'm interested to see where this goes.

7665677 Indeed, good job getting it without playing the game. Speaking of, I plan to write this so that no knowledge of the game is necessary, so no worries about not playing it. (Although you really should. It's awesome! :rainbowkiss:)

His memories will slowly return as events trigger them, and then you'll find out what happened to him.

Haven't watched Super, yet, but I've heard good things about it.

Omg this story is awesome! My sister will kill me though, because she is a hard core fan of him, so she would want to see this lol. Please update soon!:pinkiecrazy:

7672527 Lol, glad you like it and I hope your sister does, too!

7673084
Lol yeah:twilightblush: But I can't wait for a update! When would I be, aprox?

7673153 When it comes. I have several projects ongoing and I go where my muse takes me.

Wow! I got the fire emblem vibe very early and this story has me hooked! Please tell me this isn't dead!?

Nope, just on the back burner, as it were. A Somber Tale is my main focus, at the moment.
