I'm always happy to see an update to this story! Makes my day a bit brighter! I can't wait for the political intrigue!
Why doesn't this story have a crossover tag?
7553992 Because it's not a crossover with anything I'm making up the humans of this story and their world. What do you think this is a crossover with exactly?
I think you mean Billions with a "b" here. Unless humanity suffered a major die off at some point in the past. Since there, you know, already well over 7 billion of us today.
7554003 I'd say, maybe "reality" as an answer!
I am willing to hazard a guess that the answer starts with a D and ends in iscord. I get the feeling that this whole contact will be swept under the rug very fast when it comes out.
Correct me if I'm wrong, it does David have a slight language barrier with the ponies?
He seems to do pretty solid with Applejack and Dash
7554023 I you're talking about the millions on Earth it's because there are space stations that a lot of people left the Earth. I got the idea from Mobile Suit Gundam as the colonies there were to help ease the population density of Earth.
7554070 As explained in the last chapter he's been getting better plus I may not have used the best way to describe it but he's been at this for over a week so far learning and with the implants helps it makes it easier. It's just so that I don't spend the entire fic with him struggling as that gets tiring to write all the time. There are certain words he doesn't know yet and there is still some learning to go but by this point he can understand much better.
7554037 I've tried editors in the past but it didn't work out and I don't know anyone on this site I trust with my stuff at the moment. I've already explained in an author's note I think that I've always struggled with this I know I'm not perfect so if you looking for perfection I'm sorry this isn't for you. I only promise to try my best and that's all I can do. You're not telling me anything I haven't heard before and although I have improved I know I'll never be good enough for some people.
7554034 You...do know what the term 'crossover' means right?
7554080
Yeeeeaahhhh... there are no possible, conceivable circumstances whereupon 99.9% of the human population spontaneously decides to leave the Earth. We're at 7 billion and counting now, and there's no real 'population density' problem. It costs unimaginably more energy/effort/money on a per person basis to live in the hostile environment of an alien world... And even more to live in space, which is both hostile and resource poor.
It's obviously more than a few decades in the future, which means that the human population is likely well above ten billion.. which means that even if you spread humanity out across all the planets in the Sol system, plus a billion or two in space colonies / asteroids, you'd still have well over a billion people on each planet.
You'd need to have colonized thousands of worlds with millions of colonists each in order to reduce the population of Earth into the mere millions. And seeing as to how the entirety of Europe didn't pack up their belongings and emigrate, en masse, to the New World when it was discovered, I'm not seeing the vast majority of the human race jumping at the opportunity to emigrate into space.
Clearly this story isn't exactly 'hard' sci-fi, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that approach. But claiming that there are only millions of people left on Earth, without some sort of cataclysm or mass die off, really stretches my suspension of disbelief.
For all teh mythical creatures on Earth, Id blame the Sirens, building up their power base of monsters over the milennia, and trying to get back to Equestria, and opening temporary portals to teh wrong planet, closer realm, and opposition forces draining them and chasing them. Taken from crossing several other stories.
Human can hold their own against normal horse, but AJ and Dash are heavily magically supported so they could find much greater perfornace if they needed, just running for exersize shouldnt trigger it.
All those protections? Twilight would think of them as a puzzle to solve. Put the data on removeable module, put the module in his quarters. Explicitly demonstrate to Twilight which quarters are his and as a Princess etc she is not to go inside without permission, and if Pinkie, CMC etc accidentally find themselves inside and come out carrying the module that was in a locked cupboar, she is to put it back immediately and close the door behind her on leaving the room immediately.
loved the chapter the way you described the city and celestias reaction was amazing! it also was fun to see rainbows reaction in the shower,so she is not as rough and tumble on she lets on! this really is one fine story!!
I'm sorry, but unless there was a mass extinction event somewhere in Earth's past, there is no way the population could conceivably drop down to the millions, even with a mass exodus to space colonies. The millions of people on the colonies is fine, but a few million on Earth just doesn't add up. Other then that a pretty solid chapter, looking forward to the next one.
hold the fuck up, earth only has a few million people? across the whole empire that is humanity, earth should have at least a few billion!
Humanity should total in within 20+ billion because of how large it is!
7554101 Quite clear on the meaning of the term. By my views, reality is a manner of fiction...
7554740 So much ppl get hung up on that little bit of derp. Why argue madness!? Agent-G has the right to call the population of their fictional "Earth", even if it sounds laughably small.
7554740 I meant a few million as in a few hundred million like 900 million or something my mistake.
The fun part is when he meets the ambassadors. I can't wait!!!
7554942
And who is too say that our population on Earth has gone down due to immigration to other planets or space stations. I see it as possible.
Well aside from the possible error regarding human population on Earth, this is a good chapter. Loved the scenes regarding RD in the shower, and the dream sequence between David, Celestia and Luna.
Excited to see the next chapter now that David is going to meet with the ambassadors of other races.
7556309 "I meant a few million as in a few hundred million like 900 million or something my mistake. "<-he said. I'm not saying it's impossible, because this is a fiction, and as I've mentioned before, the author calls the shots.
But listen to this:
Earth's pojected population by the end of 2016 would be nearly 7.5 Billion (that's 7.500.000.000) souls, so going with Agent-G's number of 900 million, that would mean that approximately 7 out of 8 people would fuck right off.
That's around the same number of people as at the start of the 1800's. (World pop. 1 Billion milestone was hit in 1804 according to Wikipedia)
That would make Earth quite the "ghost" planet indeed. :D
7558523 Guys I already edited it so that everyone who had a problem with it, well it should be fine now at least I hope so. I really don't want people to just focus on one small issue with the story so I fixed it up.
Not tobe rude, but why is this story rated mature? Even with mild sweating, this isn`t nearly as bad as some of the things that are rated teen.
7559072 I didn't mean to insinuate that I had any problem with it, just wanted to put it into perspective...if it was me, I'd have gone a step further into madness, and I'd have used an even lower number, saying that humanity was a dying breed.
For that phrase to work in Equestria he would have to add: 'Without the interference of Pegasi.' at the end.
7554740
What? you are a bit behind on population projections for the future. With falling fertility rates while the global population will reach 11.5 billion by 2100 it will then drop massively to between 4 and 5 billion by 2150 and below 2 billion by 2250.
Population growth is by 3 measurements fertility rate (children born per woman), life expectancy at birth, infant mortality (children dying before 5 years old) and fertility rate has dropped below replacement rate in half the nations of the world today by 2100 it's estimated that nearly every nation will be below replacement rate and then the populations will crash as the elderly die off without replacement.
China is a good example thanks to it's rapid modernisation it's estimated to lose 400 million people by the end of the century.

I said that humanity as a whole, across multiple planets, would have upwards of twenty billion, I never said that earth alone would play host to that many.
I don't know where you get your numbers from, and whilst i'm sure it's a highly reputable source, i'm willing to bet that they aren't accounting for the effects that prolonged colonization of other planets could have on humans.
This is also a science fiction fanfic, so it'd be easy to just go and say that a few scientists/whatevers found a way to stop that.
If you do have something that could give insight into how humans would react to long-term colonization of a foreign world, i'd very much like to see it. I'm legitimately curious.

Yeah, I was totally expecting Celestia to make a joke about how some ponies that have pegasi ex-marefriends might experience worse on certain days... :D
I mean, if you violently broke up with, say, Rainbow Dash? Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, man. She'd work that shit into her goddamn daily schedule. Being the avatar of loyalty has an ugly side, I reckon.
