The Trinity Poem - Fimfiction

Prologue:

I remember when this prophecy was
Heard in my mind, the mind of a poet.
It was as clear as crystal when it was
Said unto my mind and my very soul.

With a powerful voice of strength, it sang:

“Listen well, for these words are very true:
They have been passed down through the centuries
To be told on this hour, this day, and time.

“I am a servant of her majesty
To show thee the discourse from times of old:
The prelude within the prelude of All
The point of birth of evil, from the light;
The Ending of the Beginning of All
The Beginning of the Ending of All.”

“So come and see why the winds carry on
And why this three-fold prophecy must be
Told to thee, and all that wish to listen.”

And of such things, I fell to my hooves and
Listened to the three discourses of old.

First Half of the First Discourse

Discord:

Ah, I see you two have come to my domain
To try and overthrow me, hm?

How quaint is that notion

Oh yes, that little notion!

When you two are nothing but little fillies

With a grand imagination.

I see you two look quite tense;
Fire is within your eyes I also see.
It’s quite hilarious if one thinks of it!

Oh come now, what is this then?
Why are you two in such a tizzy?
Why do you come to me in such anger?

Are you scared?

Oh I believe you are!

I am just Chaos, the ruler of destruction
And of disorder;
There is no need to be alarmed!

Oh sure, those ponies in your land
Are in great turmoil and despair,

But isn’t that life:

A complete disorder of tragic events?

Oh why do they have to make such
An audience with me--
Now don’t interrupt, let me have my say--
I have so much to do!
So much chaos to conjure up!

And you?

You wish to overthrow me?

HA!

Don’t make me laugh;
You are but little fillies
Compared to my power!

Oh!
Can you hear them;
The ponies are in torment!
I can hear their anguished cries
They say:

“Where are our saviors?

Where is this Land of Light

Which was founded by the Six?

There is nothing but chaos

Chaos

Chaos!

When shall our freedom come...?”

Oh how delightful it is to my ears;
The chaos has spread through this world
Faster than anything I’ve ever seen.

The darkness has taken domain over the day
The final rays of light have shut out!

Look, it has been said by even you ponies
That this would come to pass!

Oh how quaint is that notion

That simple little notion.

Then in time Chaos will come to take the Light

From the Land that is holy in Our sight.

He will take the light, and light the land with lighted death

To make it yield only despair and mourning.

Oh you know what this means;
Can you guess what it means?

IT MEANS THERE’S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!

Ha, ha!

Even the ponies have come to terms
With this chaos and have all but surrender their
Free will.

This last part will come in time.

Oh, but why not?
I’ll let you have your say now
And continue onwards after your little
Speech.

It will give me some fun to hear
your pleads of mercy,
Or perhaps your full anger and strife!

But let me warn of one simple thing
Oh yes, but a simple little thing:

In the One who holds the power of night

Shall my Chaos take hold of Her.

Then even if I should depart

My power will remain on the world

To take it over once again

And destroy Harmony

And its many elements.

Look, even you ponies know it shall come!
As you have said:

...Yet even in their power, corruption will come

To claim One of the Two of the Four

Who will be edified by the night’s power,

Yet shall be broken down by hatred of the Three.

Now go on and have your say,
But be quick in words and thought
Less I change my mind and rip
Your wings into the abyss--

Perhaps I should do that now...

Oh no, not yet....

Just have your say so that I may continue
My rule and continue my drink.

Second Discourse

Celestia:

Be still you serpent, be still and listen well.

Take heed in portents in the words I say;
these words I grant with gravity and speed
till no more words be said until the war.
But give me your ear and your attention
For out of my words are some prophecies
To you and of the times that are ahead.

Harmony shall strike you down;

This has been made and told

Before the foundation of the world.

My sister and I shall rule

And there is nothing that you can do.

Now let me tell you of myself and of
The world’s creations so that you may
Understand what I am about to say.

“In the beginning were the Three and Four;

Three connected, yet Four in the world.

Three and Four, the genesis of the earth.”

“Before the Country was found in its glory,

The Three stayed solely in the lands of folly

Where Hatred’s melancholy did abound

And his Wrath the co-heir to his frozen throne;

Till one day, that Country was founded by Six;

Six that lead, and lead to glory.

For you see Chaos, this was how you
Were born into the world and all its
Many things and glories left unsaid.
You were born through the ponies malice and
Dissent for one another during that
Time of Darkness which was before the Light.

Are you an abomination? no, I
Don’t believe in any of that garbage;
And it’s not for your sake that I believe
This thought; rather, it is just a truth
That nopony is completely evil
in their ways and their thought of the world.

Yet sadly, there is no pony who is
Fully good in their ways; no, not even
One can say they are full of the good light!
Even us two, who are immortal, can
Be tempted by the twisted darkness of
Your chaos and any other thing from the
Night unholy and sinful which you are from.

Do I mean this harshly to you, Serpent?
No, I am merely saying the truth to
You and all that are like you in your ways.

Behold, another prophecy:

You shall turn to stone

On the day of reckoning.

You shall stay for a thousand years

Then return again

Where the Six shall overcome you!

These words are to be made cryptic so that
Another pony shall understand, and you
Shall scratch your head in deep contemplation
For its meaning shall be obscure to you.

Now come, you who bring the world to death

Your false endings end and your own end comes

The vintage is ripe, the wrath has now come

Your folly shall show, you serpent of old.

Don’t you see, this was foretold long ago;
Even before the time of the Three Tribes!
This is the origins of the world,
We are but shaping it to a new light
And not your dark and chaotic living!

Look, I now shall rebuke your prophecies
For they are but half the truth which has been said.

Yet even in their power, corruption will come

To claim One of the Two of the Four

Who will be edified by the night’s power,

Yet shall be broken down by hatred of the Three.

This is truth, yet it is but only half
Of the truth, which I am about to say!

The ones like that of the founders of old

Shall come down on the land,

Six of them to count,

And return the Night to her rightful

Hold in harmony.

And another rebuke to your saying:

Then in time Chaos will come to take the Light

From the Land that is holy in Our sight

He will take the light and light the land with lighted death

To make it yield only despair and mourning.

Again, this but half of the saying!
Here is the other half of the saying:

Yet all in folly will be this plot of Chaos

For the Fourth will come, and in Harmony will strike

The Chaos to a stone prison forever.

Don’t you see, your end has already come!
We are but here to finish the work of
The words of these sayings to make them true
For the future generations to come.

Not even the domain of night is yours;
That dominion belongs to my sister
Who is on my side, and is not of yours!

Let my sister speak for herself on this
Matter, and let it be known that you are
But a lowly serpent whose ending shall
Be swift and quick like that of any snake!

I shall turn away from here and let my
Younger blood speak: go on Luna, speak now;
Let the serpent hear you for himself now!

Third Discourse

Luna and a Secret Other:

You are correct, my sister.
We do not find it fit to join the ranks
Of this serpent, who is carnally driven
By the lust of power.

(A secret craving of ourselves...

Oh yes, a secret craving....)

We only wish to end the ponies suffering
So that true night and day may show itself
And not this false darkness
Which appeals to this serpent!

(Yet appeals to us also;

In secrecy, though it may be....)

We do not wish to gain power
Only that the world may be in harmony
And the future clear before us.

We do not wish to control the world
Only that the world may be free
To choose its own destination
After these troubling times.

(With but a little counsel to its freedom....)

Now on all of this of which you two have stated
Let us go and elaborate on them
And of our personal view on such matter
As these.

Your prophecies of us might hold some truth
But let you know we shall never give in
To the darkness, even if it has been written!

Let it only come to pass when

We are hated by all pony kind

And thrown over the periphery

Of despair and dissent.

Oh yes, let it only happen then!

And if this should happen

Let it only be for a time

That evil should take us over

Then depart once again.

This is our response to those prophecies
That are about us.

(Let it be known that we understand

It will happen; for, look, it has

Already taken root!)

Now concerning the other sayings
Which were spoken by you two powers,
We shall now give you our thoughts
On how they shall take place;
Though only one, my sister, will understand
What I shall say, but you, serpent,
Shall be in confusion like that your of own chaos
On these words.

Harmoniis, this is your downfall Chaos.

This simple word is what shall be written

On your stone prison; the epitaph of your end.

The elements shall be used against you

Your chaos shall turn also against you.

You serpent, you dragon, this is your end.

And when the ponies see you
They will say:

“Was this the one who made

The world tremble in fear through darkness?

Was this the one who made the foundation

Of the world fall and break at the seams?

Why, he is nothing now!

Nothing but stone and earth

Which he tried to take his own!”

You dragon, your chaos shall be
Burnt out like the dark light that it is!
Behold, a final prophecy to you from us:

Harmonia, come!

You Six that were chosen, come!

You two Immortals, come!

And all that delight in good, come!

This is the year

This is the day

This is the hour

Where all the things of old

Shall disappear forever.

This is all we have to say to you, dragon
We now permit you to speak.

(Yet don’t be long, for My time is soon;

The moon calls, and I must answer it!)

Say your final say,
For after this it shall be war with us
And no more voice shall be uttered out!
Go on, speak; speak before we take our leave!

Second Half of the First Discourse

Discord:

Bah, be gone from this place
You ponies who speak nothing
But air!

Oh just air you speak,

And nothing more!

You go on and on
Yet you have changed nothing!

There shall be war!

Now look here you fillies, you bore me
To no end. Is this what you’re trying to do:
Bore me to death?

Ohoho, you’ll have to do better than that!

Oh yes, much much better than that!

So much better than that if you wish
To bore me to stone and earth!

And what is the meaning of this strange word:

“Harmoniis”

Is that even a word,
Or just some made up thing to frighten me?

Ha!

You’ll have to do better than that, my little fillies,
For it does not frighten me in any such way!

You keep recalling the elements, yet what
Will Fire, Wind, Earth, and Water to do me
But only quake at my power?

What will harmony do to me,
If there is none left in the world?
Look, only the Elements of Chaos
Are upon the world,
And they are on my side!

Death :

The little thing that will cause all ponies to fall!

Yes, fall into the abyss!

Vanity:

The thing to cause all to lose their time to themselves!

Greed:

The fuel which powers the world of mine!

Anger:

The seething fire which throws the world into the sun!

OH YES, LET IT BURN!

Betrayal:

The aesthetic feeling of dissention between brethren!

Oh how lovely is chaos,
Yes how lovely it is!

Oh you fillies immortal, can’t you see these are
The only elements that are upon this world
And nothing more?
Are you so blind as not to see their force
And the absence of their cousins?

Can’t you see I already have won the war;
can’t you see the entire world is against you,
Or are you so blind as to think there is
A spark of light called Hope out in my night?

Ha!

You are delusional in your ways.

Now if we’re on the subject of prophecy, sayings,
Or whatever you wish to call them,
I do have one final one just for you two.
I’m sure you’ll love it, oh yes I’m sure!

The Six of which you speak of

Shall taste the bitter herb of Chaos

And out of their harmony

shall be nothing but a tenebrous

Of disharmony and dissent.

As you see, even your future hope
Ends with nothing but a cold night
With no dawn to come!

I am overjoyed just thinking about it!

Now depart from my domain
I have heard enough from you two
And I wish to just drink my glass of
Chocolate milk in this chaos of mine!

The next time we see one another
It shall be in battle and of perpetual light
Of offensive magic and chaos!

Until then, let me enjoy the music
Of the tormented ponies’ cries
And their mourning for their lost
Of the Land of Light.

Ha! Ha! Ha....

Afterword:

Thus concludes the trinity of discourses
And brings about the origins of old.

Yet one final thing should be said to you
On the final prophecy of Discord’s night.

As the queen would put it, it is but half
Of the truth given, and the other left
Aside for no one to find in later times.

Yet in later times it has been found!

This second part is the truth and the light:

...Yet out of their disharmony

Shall greater harmony come in

And in that light of hope

Shall the old darkness

Flee away.

Now who are the Six? this I do not know...
It has been hundreds of years since the time
Of the grand battle of the Immortals
And the banishment of Luna and her
Secret other, who is Nightmare Moon.

Yet in my heart of hearts I feel a strange
Hope that the Six will come and bring about
A new light of harmony to this world
which is grander than the old light of old.

But for now I write this poem to you all
So that you might be given hope for now
And not just for now, but for forever.

May the Six come, and Celestia bring
about the hope of harmony forever!

Very unique and interesting format, and it works to its advantage. Very nice job. :ajsmug:

On a side note; It took me about two minutes to decipher that cover art. For some reason I thought that Discord was a pink seapony. Still awesome though.

Poems always sound wierd to me. I call The Bard as The Bard from Bard's Tale.

That's where I got the name, funny enough.

Very interesting indeed -- in a good way, that is! I'm particularly impressed with the way you made Discord (especially) speak in a rather more formal way than he does in the show, but still kept his essential character. I could say the same thing about Celestia, though in her case the change is different: this is why she's so powerful, as against the show depiction that's (usually) much softer and tends to mislead some people into thinking she's a wimp when she's no such thing. The formatting is also notable, and must have taken ages to get right on this site in particular. I really enjoyed this.

Uhhhh...
I like, I truly do! I just feel like it's one if those literary class poems that need to be read a couple times to get the full context of >.<
