Talk about intense. This story is amazing!
Yeah she is!
Puny god...
Aww yes.
It's good how you've established the fact that Humans aren't invincible, and that the Seraph aren't pushovers. Well, not complete pushovers haha
We are still human. one on one is not our speciality unless you are a spartan.
i'm getting a real bad feeling these bastards are like the phrexian menace from magic the gathering
Aww sweet final scene
Is that all you have, puny ponies?
Tactical Rainnuke Inbound.
That is all.
Boom.
Headshot.
I am still waiting for a scene when Fluttershy snaps and murders every Seraph in her sight.
So Spitfire spits fire? Or did she master the Thu'um of Yol Toor Shul?
6009337
I'm just waiting for Pinkie's Orbital Party Canon, myself. I hear each individual piece of confetti strikes with the force of a bunker buster.
6009144
Now ya see that there is just frightening.
The human armor is just so cool and badass
Puny god
I think what bothers me most about this story is the fact that aliens, with technology capable of intergalactic travel, are actually being killed by ponies with blades. In my mind the Seraph should be laughing derisively at such primitive fighting weapons. I mean, I know that the ponies needed help, and the main Seraph in this chapter had his shields destroyed before the wonderbolts showed up, but in the story as a whole it sounds like the ponies, while struggling, are as still killing a good amount of the Seraph. That just doesn't seem logical to me. Still a good story, though.
Soarin has the Speed Force?
6009858 What you have to remember is that these aliens arent fighting like we fight. more will be explained in story, but right know they are mostly zerging.
"highly condensed" could be phrased as "ultra-dense" or similar, given that they would likely use a dense solid in the first place, and condensed implies that something that wasn't dense was compacted by processing it. Other than that good chapter.
6009886 Well put.
6009324 6009332 What needs to happen is for folks (like you) to hush up and let Taelea and Cody (and their crew) write their story their way. Because they know the way the story is going to go; we don't.
That's what needs to happen.
If you can't love it unless they change it what you want it to be, then that's your loss, hoss.
I was on the edge of my chair and you had to leave us there DANG IT!
Favorite! Holy shit, this is awesome!
On another note, this entire story gives me feelings similar to the Star Wars: The Old Republic - Hope trailer.
Star Wars: The Old Republic - "Hope" Cinematic Trailer
Epic battles of good versus evil/fighting the good fight, that sort of thing.
Holy Hell. This. Is. AWESOME!!!!!!!!
6009858 Modern day body armor that can stop a high powered rifle round and leave the wearer still combat capable is easily defeated by a knife. because what is more significant threat on the battlefield, knives or guns? Guns. so thats what we build our armor to stand up against and sacrifice its ability to protect against slashing or stabbing attacks in favor of better ballistics protection. And this isnt a new trend armor tends to evolve to protect against whatever the newest death toy is. How long ago do you think these guys used knives in combat? probably not high on the 'shit-we-need-to-protect-ourselves-from' list.
6011932 Intergalactic travel, weapons that fire energy, armor that has an energy shield and possibly enhances physical abilities ( not sure if that was the Seraph's natural physical abilities ir not), and they have to worry about a sharpened piece of metal. This makes sense to you because our modern day armor (which isn't made of advanced tech) can't handle knives? I just picture an advanced suit like what Iron Man or Samus Aran wear. It would be really disappointing if they had to worry about some guy with a knife coming at them.
So were the Crusaders just taken hostage and then rescued???? Because if so I hope there are some happy family reunions soon.
6009454 I'm torn between wanting to see this and not, because quite frankly it scares me but would be awesome to see.
6012100 no this makes sense because their personal shielding is probably designed to protect against high energy attacks be it plasma, laser, or kinetic energy. the problem with a force field is its either always on ( static) or it only comes on when needed (reactive) since there was no shimmer before her attacks we have to assume its reactive. and if thats the case then it cannot react to low speed kinetic impacts or simply walking and grabbing things (like fleeing ponies) would cause it to kick on and force whatever he was grabbing away. and honestly if you hate something enough you will find a way to kill it with whatever you have on hand. and im fairly certain planet invading, pony snatching alien fothermuckers are high up on that list.
"She is ours" heh, she's now part of their heard! I love it!!
6012103 Hehe, sadly no. They were with Applebloom in the woods.
6012100 Think about it like this. When the first colonists came to America, they were fighting Native Americans, who were barely out of the Paleolithic Age. Europeans had long since created armor to defend themselves from attacks... but alot still died from bowshot, or hatchet to the face.
And the Seraph Victoria and the Wonderbolts just faced is far different than the other Seraph.
And that was its natural abilities, the armor they utilize do not upgrade anything; that too, will be explained.
6012263 Spoiler! :P XD
One thing I noticed:
If she's been operating her suit for thirteen hours, 25% of her suit battery remaining would be slightly over 4 hours. Unless she refilled her suit's charge at some point.
6012597
she must have refilled if they have gone through twice. but 4 hours, twice, plus the current used 75% (about 3 hours) from the latest recharge is still only 11 hours, so i don't understand that .
6012597 Also another highly likely option is that the battery doesn't drain in a linear way as you expected it too but that the first 20 percent for example could last 5 hours...
"Is that all you can muster, ponies?" he roared in a deep horrifically accented Equush, "You cannot kill me! I am immortal! I am a god to my kind! I... AM..."
"Fucked," Soarin' interrupted with a smirk...
encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSBxez5vEmFaJfYGa8hDBCtD7VDdO6k0iDpn0jiSwrwn2P9hHba_A there is a reason why you don't taunt your enemy
6009858 6012100
I'd rather argue that pony magic is what is behind their successful attacks. Yes, a difference in what the armor aims to protect against would mean more primitive weapons would be effective, however we don't know what underlines the magic of Equestria. The show doesn't fully explain what the capability of the races are, and the Seraph definitely do not know about equian magic as they have never heard of them before the attack, so I just think it's logical that their magic allows them to attack effectively and lethally.
Until someone explains the theory of magic in Equestria it could be anything, so I say it is this for now.
One problem I have with this story is that everything is so damn cliche! Generic Always Chaotic Evil enemies committing cliche crimes, typical human sci-fi fleet raining down starship troopers expy, and there is very little in the story so far other then "Humanity! Fuck Yeah!" Which really conflicts with some off-handedly dropped details like majority of the population of Equus being lost to attacks.
It's not a bother to read, but it really could use some uniqueness in regard to enemy motives, logistical hell behind organizing an interplanetary attack, establishing correlation between pony magic, human and seraph technology.
That bit with Seraph bothering to learn English in hours after contacting humanity really ruined the story for me, to the point I just can't take it seriously anymore.
This story needs a lot of work.
6032078
It says Equush not English.
The reason not much is explained is because it is meant to be an action based story, and having to stop and explain every little new thing would through off the flow of the story.
I do agree that sometimes certain plot lines can seem very cliché, but I understand that the reason it seems that way is because of just how many stories I have read.
If you read a lot of stories then yes after a while every story is going to seem cliché to you...its just how life works.
Personally I like the story...although even I will admit that it does need just a bit more detail to fully bring me into the fight scenes.
6009858
I doubt that these front-line fighters are all they've got. I'm hoping it's like Playing Warcraft 3 and backing your enemy into a corner in online vs when they're refusing to leave. They've got no army, but they do have guard towers. So. You've got WAY more resources than they do, and he/she is being a stubborn brat. So how do you torment them? Send your WEAKEST guys first until they all die. Then send your REAL army.
6032078
I have to agree that this is kinda weak story-wise so far. I'm hoping that it'll get better later.
I held off on reading this for a while ........... what waz I thinking? This is too good to keep waiting!
This is the fastest pace story that make me feel like I am there. The only problem that I am have is knowing that sometime am going to run out of chapters to read. but till then I am going to continue enjoying this story.
6012100
To be fair, if you're using energy weapons, you're just wasting energy to me. I'm not impressed at all by that. Putting heavy pieces of matter down range at high speeds will always be the way to go until science has some sort of breakthrough.
am idiotic villain that thought taunting Murphy in the middle of a battlefield was a good idea!
Very nice work.
Wait, I'm hoping that there's an explanation for Spitfire being able to literally breathe fire coming soon, because what?!
That was.... Freaking awesome....
6427957 My guess would be using Pegasus magic to ignite the air around her. Weather manipulation is always done at close range/contact, so keeping it around her hide to build up a charge, then using her breath and wings to direct the blast (which also looks dang cool...).
6427957
Haha, yes, magic! It's good to be back. But in this head canon, all ponies have some kind of elemental affinity. Spitfire's happens to be fire.
