I take it things went well with your beta then? Anyway, I don't see how you can call it a more uneventfull chapter, Rainbow Dash's scene was kinda a big event, but more importantly, we have seen devellopment in the guards' past and personalities. Belfry's case seem particulary promising. Plus she have a fixation on Edward, there migth be a few reasons for that, but they all make for an interesting story.
An while Twilligth and Spike's scene was slower, we did have a bigger glimpse of the Equstrian's law and the promise next chapter will undoubtly bring a lot.
crétins aveugles qui ne peuvent même pas trouver leur cul avec une carte, trois boussoles et des vivres?
Not sure if they have the temperament for it but Edward and Pierre may need to introduce the Equestrians to the concept of "passive resistance", and it all starts with the word "no".
The worst part is that they are incapable of basic reasoning on the future. If the bicorn trait would be lost on interbreeding with the outside population, then no matter what they grow the bicorn population to, it will always be inbreeding, resulting in this being necessary forever due to increasing genetic problems. If it isn't and is merely recessive, then the best way to ensure a population would be to get the genes everywhere except in current bicorn population, such that any child would have a chance of bicornism, just like the cakes kids. This has all the marks of attempts at purebreds, not survival of a minority population. The real value of a grouped bicorn population would be cultural, something no doubt wiped by Equestrian hegemony and breeding programs.
It's great to see an other chapter of this story, I have been waiting for ages to see more of this unusual BiE. I think that he quality of the story has also improved again, the last one didn't had that much to say other then a conversation but was necessary to go though to go forward in the story. It seem that Edward's and Pierre's constant complains are stating to quickly pay off as silence would just mean compliance on their part and that is what the system wants form them and they can't afford to stop less they become complaisant and conform. Still, i am happy that the flip side discrimination, for the bat ponies who have the opposed situation, that it will stop looking like the both of them are just being winy brats sense they are getting a soft form of cohesion but their are also other hoe don't have it easy either. I hope we will see more about the bat ponies situation in later in the story.
I wander what was that about adoption? are their many Bicorns who are willing to raze them or is it regular ponies, how does that work? I wander if Bicornes, are razed to be over protected, gradually becomes conditioned think of themselves as glass dolls become very anxious when faced with uncertainty and think that they are incapable of fending for themselves?
I am happy to see that the issue has grown big enough to even make the suborn minded Twilight start to questioned a little by on the system in place and make her own investigation about the treatment of the bicornes in reserves.
I also Like how you point out how Rainbow hold a double standers for the bicornes and that she doesn't realizes it
In some way their situation is in some way the the Native American in reserves system(in Canada) and "La Revanche du berceau ". I might be completely disconnected of realty of the Natives (I am certainly making a gross generalization here and their are a many more problems for them) are often resented(unfairly I might add) by many of the general population for their privileges that the government offers them like welfare and exempted of taxes, but mostly for get they are also living in hard times and to be eligible to those benefits they have to stay in the reserves, where they are out of the way isolated they don't have much perspective in improving their lot in life. Not having any incentive to stay in schools and not having any intensive to to work( it's more complicated then that I know) they just lays around doing nothing, which doesn't help their self-esteem any and just create a vicious cycle of poverty for them. For the other, I know a little about family receiving intense pressure, the middle of the 19th century from the clergy to have more children even if they didn't had the means to raze them. I know that their where some families that had over 30 child.
Boy will Rainbow feel dumb once she calms down. We love how the situation just keeps building. Twilight's visitation to the preserve will undoubtably go horribly wrong, but the resident population will not likely be affected too much, we think. Keep going! ;)
“Dear Community Chief Cloven Print, through this scroll, I inform you that I, Princess Twilight Sparkle, will be visiting your reserve with two guests tomorrow.”
spike is right with the pebble mountain analogy, it's precariously balanced right now but this visit will start the avalanche
Well, I’m not going to stand there and let you steamroll all over my friend because you think the horns on your heads make you special!"
Maybe it's just a little bit of pop psychology, but every time I hear someone say something that, I just want to say "no, they don't. You think they are, though, and you're angry that you aren't."
“The Princesses shouldn’t lift a hoof for you motherbuckers! It’s not fair that you should get whatever the b--!”
Called it.
“To answer your question, Pierre. No, I didn’t have a choice,” she said slowly, spitting the words with the hope they could burn themselves in the bicorns’ faces. “It was that or unemployment.”
Oh, boo fucking hoo. It's only like that literally applies to everyone who isn't independently wealthy, in so many words. I was actually forced to join the military. I mean, I could have refused that, but then I would've just been forced to do something else instead. As in, on pain of prison. Having to work for a living sucks alright, but it definitely doesnt't suck more than that.
7500305 Nah, I get where you are coming from, but, in her case when she says the guard or nothing, she is actually being 100% genuine. You'll see, I promise.
7498041 Yeah, good times with the people behind the scene. Went well. Smooth enough that no one seems to have torn me to shreds for x issues. As for how I could call it uneventful... I guess it just didn't feel as far ahead in the planned outline as it could have been.
But hey, cool to hear you liked it. Also, I'm curious, can you speak French or did you just google translate?
7498071 She could be lying to herself. Or others. Or the entire world. Maybe. Who knows? It must be the stress speaking!/s]
7498116 I'm not sure they would be the best candidates for that particular introduction. But, you'll see.
74982767499413 It does seem to point this way, doesn't it? True, their knowledge of genetic is not on par with humans, but simple observations and the likes could have told them this, especially over such a long period of time. Of course, there's always the matter of endoctrination. Hard to argue with something that refuses argument. I mean, Pierre and Edward seem to manage so far, but sooner or later...
Not that oracles aren't so valuable bicorns outside of Equestria are near always captured for the mere hope of getting one. NOPE. ...
7500305 On this particular statement by Belfry, she was actually fairly accurate. It was indeed a choice boiling down to the Night Guard or no job at all. You didn't think that bicorns were the only ones that could suffer in this Equestria, did you?
7498582 Alright, let's see what I can answer right now. Well, adoption process. For the mares that choose the donation centers, they are actually going there to get artificially inseminated with a bicorn foal, which they will in 95% of the cases give in adoption to either a childless or sterile couple somewhere else. The couple might be bicorns or not, but in the case of non-bicorns, they will have monthly checks-in and the likes with the government to ensure that they give a proper education and generally don't screw it up. Badly. For stallions like Edward and Pierre, the process is easier, but requires just as many visits, except they're not having the physical burden of a pregnancy. They are however aware that a lot more foals will be their children through this process, and it is in some way emotionally demanding.
As for the vibe you got, well, those are indeed elements of inspiration for me. The Bicorns have had some parts of them pilfered from these particular phenomenons and a couple of others, courtesy of my collab partner. On my end, well, the parallels with the natives are too strong to ignore. And yes, the general attitude of the population can be easily attributed to my experience. I can recall quite a few conversations that centered around how privileged the natives were to live in reserves with free tax money thrown their ways and no tax to pay in return. And when you point out the horrible living conditions that they have to put with to keep those benefits, the fault invariably falls to the group leaders that swindles the money. The boom of population, though in-story justified by new regulations with higher quotas somewhat recently passed, was also influenced by the large families from that time period. Like, my mother is one of ten children. It makes for big family reunions.

Anyway, good luck with that. Writting is a wonderful thing and I do hope to see one more author writting things someday. I know how frustrating learning disability can be, although mine is probably way less severe then yours. But I do know it is always possible to find solutions and adapt. Until then, take care!
7501097 I suppose not, no. Still, I think there is a qualitative difference between "being forced" and "having no other options." These two, here, quite literally have someone standing over them with four big sticks just to make sure they don't even so much as try to leave. An option that, I'm sure, was at least still open to her.
7498071 You notice how Twilight only said LUCKY FOALS? Not just any foal? She knows the laws surrounding Bicorns yet doesn't question what happens to those who are classified as a Unlucky Bicorn. Because of Edward and Pierre, Rarity and Spike are beginning to ask questions about them. Fluttershy is starting to see a cage around the Bicorns.
Celestia wants more Oracles for a warning system. But to do that, she needs the Bicorns. And if you recall, back when Edward and Pierre tried to leave, Twilight FORCED them to return. EVEN when they told her that they are ' foreigners ' and they didn't come from Equestria. It's like no one wants to listen to Discord and actually ask Ed and Pierre about their home.
Pinkie and Fluttershy had asked just to try and convince them to accept the ideas that Equestria was trying to force upon them.
No matter how many times I reread this story, there is one piece of information that is never mentioned. After Discord's rein, Starswirl met with the Bicorns. He then latter talked to the three tribes about accepting the Bicorns into what was the Beginning nation of Equestria.
A thousand years later, the Bicorn population is reaching a new high population. This is after breeding programs and quarantine/isolation of everything else. We know that only by breeding with other Bicorns will a Bicorn foal be born. It's a recessive trait.
Yet before being integrated, they had a stable population. What happened between the Bicorns joining Equestria with the tribes rule and the Equestria a thousand years later under Celestia's rule?
7516251 Why ask a slave their opinion on a nut shell?
That's pretty much what the Bicorns are. Celestia's slaves. What rights do they have? They can't leave without being dragged back, they always have someone who is watching them, their taught that they need to breed with who their told (why does Cadance even accept this?) , they are isolated from the rest of Society and placed into walled communities, and if they aren't 'Lucky' , no one cares about them and they practically vanish.
7516379 I have to agree with that point. I just believe that the Bicorns seem more like slaves than anything. It just is so similar to the history of the United States. Black people were taken from their home and brought to the U.S. As a slave labor force. The only difference between them is Bicorns are treated a little better but have to have a ton of kids. Isn't it like each stallion has to have over 10- 20 kids? Has anyone else seen what happens when you have tons of kids before they have time to grow up and mature? Cheaper by the dozen people. Watch it and understand.
7516403 Do you think the reason Twilight is so pushy for them to start having goals is because they could be of the 'Lucky Bicorn' class?
It would definitely make sense. She said that they need Lucky foals. And if Ed or Pierre ARE actually Lucky, that does increase the chance for what Celestia wants. The Oracle Alert System. But, as we are aware of, knowing the future can be extremely dangerous.
I just hope that the next chapter won't be bronies snarking, guards getting mad, ponies flipping out, nothing happening.
better might be: - escape and/or release causing more shenanigans in the community - third group comes into play besides celestia/protagonists - angry sex with belfry, and subsequent humiliation from pierre who thought he was going to be the first to go native - why was there a bicorn statue on Earth that transports you to Equestria as a bicorn? And don't say "because Discord" - "hey, so there's this statue that turns anyone who touches it into a healthy bicorn with max luck genes." "we don't care about that! you need to make with the breeding, come on chop chop!"
