This story is about an earth pony named Smash. He heads to Ponyville with his lifelong best friend named Ace as they settle in. Smash usually does not like talking to ponies and seems a bit anti-social to others. However, the ponies he'll meet could change him forever.

You can skip the first three chapters and still go on to read the rest. I would recommend it.
