Twilight took matters into her own hooves. Years after judgement, Twilight is torn between two worlds. A bright and peaceful Equestria and the world of the Dusklands; dangerous and unforgiving. Just where does her heart belong?
She shouldn’t be treatin’ her best friends like that.
Applejack just really, really needs a good, old fashioned, passionate ass whipping. Sometimes I wonder if Rainbow and AJ have paint chip eating competitions.
Applejack just really, really needs a good, old fashioned, passionate ass whipping.
Even though she's my fave among the Mane 6, I totally agree with you here, bud.
Sometimes I wonder if Rainbow and AJ have paint chip eating competitions.
Yeah, with the way that they're both acting, it does make you wonder, huh?
And another thing that I can't get over is just how totally and completely clueless that the five of them seem to be. They don't know why she wants nothing to to with them, or her original name, or anyone back in Equestria? Really?! Have they all totally and completely forgotten just how badly that they treated her at that blasted wedding?!
I have no words for such stupidity. Absolutely none.
ah perfect the tradgedy here i hope will be further explained along with why she's so pissed off at all of them don't explain about forget to also tell us about what happend during that five years jump to the future
5469163 RD - First one to pass out loses! AJ - GO! Pinkie - Paint chip contest is in full motion, it seems that AJ is taking the lead, oh no! It appears that RD has just upped the antics and decided to CHUG the bucket! Woo-hoo! This is going to be a doozie!
i wish these came out more frequently. the story is just so awesome! and we're only at the beginning!
oh, and the girls (minus twilight) seem to be forgetting that the elements of harmony supposedly function off of the bonds that the ponies who are wielding them share. yet, twilight hates each and every one of them. wonder if they'd just not work, or if they'd take twilights side in the matter and do something to the rest of those no good traitors.
5469529 hey, at least it's getting written! and well written, at that! i'm just assuming that something in RL is keeping you from getting them out sooner, and then leaving it at that. even if it was just because you were lazy or something, it's not like i could do something about it.
5469410 Yeah, I noticed that. I just hope that it doesn't come back to really bite them all in the plot later on.
And yes, it most certainly did.
Another observation that I want to make is to Twilight's reaction if (when, that is) that she finds out that one of the only reasons that they came looking for her (well, I'm really hoping that it's not the only reason on their parts) is because she's needed to help use the Elements to help fight a war (that she has no part in, btw). Something just tells me that that will not go over too well with her, and will only serve to reinforce the negative feelings, hurt and anger that she feels toward them.
Looking forward to the next update! Hopefully the girls won't do something that's too totally stupid!
(Notice that I'm not holding my breath for that not happening, though.)
Anyway, well this is an interesting development. Diadem had locked up and repressed Twilight Sparkle into the deepest reaches of her psyche, but it's obvious that the pain and anger is still there.
I can't wait to see the rest of the Mane6 react to the rest of the Den and the culture shock (and also the eventual fight or mugging) that will occur.
I saw on your blog post that you've been having trouble with your editors being busy. I'd be glad to help with editing this story. I can also do beta-reading too. I can see a lot of potential in this story and hate to see it head down a direction where it ends up lackluster.
Rarity gave her best smile. “Not at all Miss…?” “Lavender.” The nurse replied, ambling toward the group of ponies. The mares watched the nurse with the sash carefully. It was one of those creatures, like the leader of this place, with a body like an elk with scales along the sides of her torso with an elongated tail with a tuft of hair at the end. Her mane was a deep violet, almost black, and her eyes were a soft amber. None of them knew what to say or how to react. Rarity stretched and shook off the twinges of pain she received. “Miss Lavender.” Rarity affirmed with a nod. “If I may, we have a few questions.” The lilac scaled ki’rin hummed softly as she examined each of her patients. They seemed to be fine, each one standing on their hooves without any sort of open wounds and she nodded. “What questions do you have, little ones?” Rainbow Dash and Applejack narrowed their eyes. Neither of them liked the idea of being spoken to as if they were fillies again, but Rarity still smiled. “Well, I am curious. I mean no offense, dear, but what are you?” Lavender laughed. The melodic sound filled the room. “It is no offense at all. I am a Ki’rin. I assume Lord Nereus said nothing about our kind?” “To be fair, I don’t think my friends gave him the chance. They were being uncooperative.” Rarity answered. She gave Applejack and Rainbow Dash a disapproving glare. “I heard there was a ruckus. I had no idea it was coming from in here. I was tending to the other patients.” Lavender said. “What else did you have questions about?” “Well, I wanted to know where our friend Twilight might have gone off to.” A beat of silence passed as Lavender’s carefree expression changed. Her smile fell into a frown as she watched the five apprehensively. “You speak of Lady Diadem.” She stated. “She has not used that name in years.” “Well why not?” Rainbow Dash asked. “That is not my story to tell. If Lady Diadem refused to explain it, then I will respect her wishes.” Lavender stated. “You say ‘Lady Diadem’?” Rarity asked. “Yes, because she is Lord Nereus’ daughter. Nereus is head of the Ki’rin clan which resides here amongst the others who have ventured out to make this place their home.” Lavender explained, careful with her words. “She is our Lady. Although she prefers informalities, the title is still there. I suppose you might call her a princess where you are from.” Rainbow Dash’s laughter made the rest of them jump. She fell to the ground, kicking her hind legs as she rolled around giggling hysterically. “Twilight a princess?! Ahahaha!” Lavender tilted her head a bit confused. “I see nothing funny, little one. Since her arrival, Lady Diadem had been under Nereus’ protection. It was not long before he claimed her as his own daughter, thus making her our clan’s princess. They’re inseparable, those two. Sometimes, I wonder how they could stand one another.” “Why is that?” Rarity asked. “Let’s just say that Lord Nereus does not act his age.” Lavender disclosed. “And Lady Diadem tends to act more mature than he does at times. She’s had to act like the parent in times where he wished to act like a child. It makes you wonder.” Her musical laughter filled the room once more. “Any other questions?” “U-um…I have one…if that’s okay.” Fluttershy spoke, her small voice barely audible. “Y-Your lord mentioned a festival to that stallion we saved…I was wondering what it was?” Lavender smiled. “That is one of our annual festivals. The Viridian Harvest is our celebration for the crops we have grown through the year and distribute it all to the members of the Den. There is music, dancing, food and more.” “Oh! Oh! Like a party?!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed. “Yes. Quite like a party.” Lavender smiled. “I love, love, love, LOVE parties!” the pink pony shouted while she bounded around the room. With a light chuckle, Lavender nodded. “Fantastic. All those in the Den’s walls are expected to be there, including the injured and weak. As it nears sunset, my assistants and I will bring up all the patients here in the infirmary. You five are no exception.” Pinkie Pie stopped in front of Lavender and grabbed a cloven hoof, shaking it eagerly. “Hurray!” she cried, bouncing around again. “That would be marvelous.” Rarity said. “The festivities start at sunset. We will come get you girls a little bit before that so we can get you all up there.” Lavender informed them as she turned to the door. “I will see you all then.” The five watched the ki’rin nurse exit their room, moving onto the next patient.
Am I the only one who thinks that that type of dialogue fits within a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game?
5469410 You know what... I could attempt that... although I honestly have no idea where to begin. It would be a definite change in writing for me... maybe it would do me some good.
5469602 I agree, although I could see it as a form of round-about if they talk to her father and her father goes... oh well, you know since we are losing, possibly, means of trade with the Changeling Queen that we had allied with. We could use assistance from Equestria for helping them in their time of need.
I could see from her current perspective that it would in turn help the DEN and her NEW Family. Although she may not feel too keen on her old friends and mentor. You know, betrayal has a way of sticking to an individual. Especially when she was right the whole time... although I doubt she wants to hear that from them.
Maybe another twist in the story is a revelation of where she begins to re-accept them as friends... although probably not as full-heartedly... I don't know about you... but if someone that was suppose to be my friend(s) essentially condemned me... I wouldn't truly trust them again. True trust is what she had and it is what she lost. Then again, I'm not the writer for this wonderful scene... just my two-cents.
5469849 Hmmm, good points, all. Very good points, in facvt.
And I definitely agree with you on that last one. That's one of the main flaws of these "Twilight gets dumped at the Royal Wedding by everyone, but forgives everyone in the end, no matter what they did to her". I always felt like that, after the fact, she should've just torn into them, instead of forgiving them all right away. I mean, her own brother and teacher, and the mares that she loved and looked on as her family, all just ditched for a pony that the latter bunch didn't even know from a hill of beans, fer Pete's sake! No way would I have been that forgiving after something like that!
And honestly, I really like the ones where she doesn't forgive everyone right away, and instead either scorns them, or just flat-out leaves for parts unknown and makes whole new life and identity and gains a whole new, very different family for herself.
Much like she did here.
(Well, okay, she was completely banished from Equestria in this one; I get that. She still has a new family who loves her, and is protective of her.)
Please, please have Twilight spit out "Losing a friend's trust is the fastest way to lose a friend." I'm sure Pinkie, at least, might figure out what happened.
Have they all totally and completely forgotten just how badly that they treated her at that blasted wedding?!
For Twilight, it was an amazingly traumatic experience that lead to five years of pain and suffering, as well as physical, emotional and mental scarring. For those five? It was an amusing anecdote to laugh over until they realized that, fuck, they need her.
Which is extra funny because, given that she hates them, the Elements of Harmony are useless. Even if they could convince her to come or even kidnapped her, all they'd get would be the chance to see the Elements shoot blanks.
I'm surprised the Elements are even still attuned to them, given how out of sync their actions were with Friendship, Harmony and for most of them, their own elements.
“Twilight wouldn’t let someone destroy Equestria.”
Why would someone you abandoned help you, let alone a kingdom whose monarch wrongly exiled you for telling the truth? I said good luck, because they're going to need it in heaps.
5470419 As am I. One would assume, being such good friends, they'd realize what they'd done, but also to take into account is the fact that Chrysalis was manipulating Shining Armor, so who's to say she wasn't slightly manipulating the rest of the Mane 6 into ignoring Twilight? Then Celestia banished her, an action that made no sense, as it rendered the Elements of Harmony utterly useless. The Princess obviously wasn't thinking straight at the time. What if this is like the side-story, and Chrysalis is impersonating Celestia!
5469154 Or it could be that the Equestrian educational system hasn't changed in the past thousand years (honestly, we know next to NOTHING about the various creatures that inhabit Equestria and Celestia's thousand years of stagnated ruling hasn't given me a nice opinion of her either.) thus breeding dumb-asses like them into existence.
Sooo, speculation. Chrysalis must have gotten away with replacing Cadence full stop, otherwise there's no believable way AJ and company can be so absolutely clueless as to why Twilight's pissed with them.
But that makes no sense, because Chrysalis was aiming to take Canterlot immediately, not settle in for a longer plan. So they would have HAD to fight off Chrysalis at some point - and everypony would have been smacked in the face with the fact that Twilight was right and they'd abandoned her to be banished for trying to save them all from their own gullibility. So then why are they all playing dumb when Twilight's really, really not happy to see them?
You've written yourself into a tight spot there, making the other five Elements be such thoughtless idiots. I'm curious to see how you get out of it.
EDIT: I suppose if Chrysalis got handled on the quiet, the Elements might not know Twilight was justified, and so they think they're out extending Equestria's 'forgiveness' to a prodigal child. You seem to enjoy making established characters drooling morons, so Celestia MIGHT have been that dumb, I suppose...
well applejack falls into her steryotype with no questions asked, agressive, ignorant, borderline insulting.....
rainbow is very lucky to be alive...
pinkie has got half the picture and then she loses it, fluttershy got the otehr half and lost sight of it as well, at least rarity is trying to show a little empathy even if she does fail at it rather spectacularly
overall i say there more likely to encourage twilight to attack equestria rather then save it... and frankly i'd join her. don't get your wrong your writing is spectacular, i just want to see when this timebomb blows *begins making shelter well deadpool makes popcorn* cause at this rate twilight is going to melt down at them.
5469502 quite frankly even if the relationship where repaired, it would be a miracle if any of them save twilight could activate there elements. they have each managed to personaly shatter the core meaning of there elements. when the bond broke between luna and celestia the elements moved on and i would say it's reasonable to argue the same here.
You know to be honest I find that the way the 5 of them are acting towards Diadem is actually quite in character for them. I can say this because in the actual wedding episode they never apologise to Twilight for not trusting her. The fact that the reason they are here for her is for fighting in a war is also quite similar to the wedding episode itself where after Chrysalis is revealed and Celestia is beaten the first thing she says to Twilight is that she must get the elements and fight.
It's quite rare to find a story like this that actually remains quite true to the actual show. I hope the next update will be a bit faster.
i know all about these stories and im praying to god him self that it does not pull punches in demonyzing the mane 6 in the begining why because thats why imm bothering to read it why cause the main 5 in this case do not think things though and it ends up burning equestria in its entirety in this case it ended up with them losing one of there best friends for 5 freaking years don't pull punches in discribing the main 5 meeting there replacements and the fate of there friend trust me i can take it even if it ends in gory details
Just found this today. Im loving it so far but I have to say that the rest of the mane 6 are acting like idiots. Its almost out of character but it is debatable and at the same time I can suspend my disbelief enough to not see it as a problem.
5470805 OH Goodie im not the only one waiting to for that. Plz let it happen soon .....oh the tongue lashing that will be had Im also waiting for the moment went when they all go judgemental because twilight will kill something in front of them and then be all dur hur hur your not the twilight i knew she would never do that
5470580 AU AU AU yes in the show she was planning to take canterlot fast. but this is a fan fiction so he probs made it so like you said chrysalis got away with it so nobody knows
5470938 And that is why the portrayal of them had been rewritten twice. >.< It was difficult for me to keep them in character despite finding Twilight. The scenes were a bit harsher and the rest of the girls felt...wrong. It took me a while, but this was the end result and I'm quite happy with that!
5470580 The AU tag is there because the outcome in Canterlot is much different than what happened in the show. Also, when you honestly think about it, in the series, the rest of the mane 6 sort of act like this throughout the episode and the series, granted some of them learn from their day to day routines that some of what they do is hurtful to others, the idea that they would know why Diadem dislikes them is farfetched.
They weren't there when she attacked Chrysalis the second time. They weren't there when Celestia's judgement came to be. They didn't see anything. All they did was walk out on her, twice, and to them it wouldn't be a big enough reason to act that way. To them, the circumstances of Twilight's banishment were unrelated to them. So why would she be mad with them?
It was if a hoof had been thrown at her stomach What indeed. the unicorn thought with a sigh. Then its decided
1. It was as if a hoof had been thrown at her stomach. 2. No need the fullstop, just a comma. 3. It's.
Well... I know just about everyone has said it but I'm just going to say it again. Swearing inbound.
Sweet mother of god. They wonder why she's acting like that? After they still know she was gone for five years? Did they bother to think back to why she was gone? What happened five years ago? The fact that she was banished all that time ago? The fact that they called her insane for thinking that Princess Cadance at the time was an imposter?
Well you know what they say... Ignorance is bliss...
God damn, brain dead, dysfunctional idiots the five of them.
Oh wait, back up. Calling them dysfunctional and brain dead is insulting to those that are.
There's a blasted pink elephant in the room and they refuse to notice it in wake of their war that somehow happened... Oh wait, they screwed over the one pony that could have prevented all of that and doomed her to die.
How they doomed her to die you ask? Why let's start with she was banished to the Badlands with no food or water, been stabbed in the back by all she knew and loved and had to fight tooth and hoof to survive. Let's not forget that she was traumatized by what happened. A wonder how they never noticed her body language.
Wake up girls and stop being selfish, short sighted and self centered. Notice the suffering that you caused to your 'friend' before you start judging her at all.
Princess Celestia had entrusted them to find Twilight since she was preoccupied with the war, knowing full well that the Elements of Harmony were unusable without her and somepony had to keep Equestria calm in the time of war.
Buck it, Tia! You can't have your bucking cake And eat it.
5471106 Actually, AJ does apologize to Twilight when Chrysalis is revealed in the show.
--------------
You know, this whole scene is infuriating. Why? Because D's old friends are being willfully ignorant. They would need to think for all of 30 seconds about the LAST time they saw her and what the circumstances were. Oh, what was that? You walked out on Twilight when she needed you most and now she hates you for it? What a shocker.
Astral and Nereus seemingly know what the backstory is, so when the group splits up they should probably be able to get some answers, and even if the former two don't have the full story then they would probably tell them what happened to Diadem after her banishment.
5470230 Well put, on that first bit. I totally agree with you on it.
And wouldn't it be funny if Pinkie was the only one of them that that got through to? I think it would.
Exactly! That's it e-frickin'-xactly!!! That's just exactly what I meant! They all turned their collective backs on her just because she was right, and now that they need her, they've all developed (or so it seems to me, anyway) a case of selective memory.
Yay! Update!
Applejack just really, really needs a good, old fashioned, passionate ass whipping. Sometimes I wonder if Rainbow and AJ have paint chip eating competitions.
5469154
I laughed out loud at this.

Their optimism is one of their biggest flaws, imho, and when writing this scene I realized that it just...fit. xD
5469307
Everything will be explained in due time. I promise! :)
5469378
That awkward moment where I wish someone would write the oneshot for that. >_>

5469502
This will definitely be explained as well!
And I do apologize for the spaced out updates. :)
I want to see how twili- err diadem snap and yell the truth of her hatred
iv gotta say honestly i like dark pinkie more why because of all the dark humor in these scenes
5469529 hey, at least it's getting written! and well written, at that! i'm just assuming that something in RL is keeping you from getting them out sooner, and then leaving it at that. even if it was just because you were lazy or something, it's not like i could do something about it.

Its almost out of character but it is debatable and at the same time I can suspend my disbelief enough to not see it as a problem.
o.0 wow just WOW how fucking thick can the mane 6 get
:Huh I wonder why twilights angry at us
ME:
5470805 OH Goodie im not the only one waiting to for that. Plz let it happen soon .....oh the tongue lashing that will be had
Im also waiting for the moment went when they all go judgemental because twilight will kill something in front of them and then be all dur hur hur your not the twilight i knew she would never do that
5470580 AU AU AU yes in the show she was planning to take canterlot fast. but this is a fan fiction so he probs made it so like you said chrysalis got away with it so nobody knows

And that is why the portrayal of them had been rewritten twice. >.< It was difficult for me to keep them in character despite finding Twilight. The scenes were a bit harsher and the rest of the girls felt...wrong. It took me a while, but this was the end result and I'm quite happy with that!

The AU tag is there because the outcome in Canterlot is much different than what happened in the show.
No pony friends? What is Astral to her then? Isn't he a pony too? I may have forgotten the details so forgive me if I got it wrong.
It was if a hoof had been thrown at her stomach
What indeed. the unicorn thought with a sigh.

Haha. Yeah he is. There is going to be a snippet where he quotes that. Lol.

Judgements have yet to be made. This is only chapter three
Buck it, Tia!
Exactly! That's it e-frickin'-xactly!!! That's just exactly what I meant! They all turned their collective backs on her just because she was right, and now that they need her, they've all developed (or so it seems to me, anyway) a case of selective memory.
Not a very good thing on their parts, methinks.
5470382 Indeed. Very well put, indeed, my friend.
5470985 Pretty darned thick, obviously.
It feels like forever since the previous chapter! Please bring another out soon!
