The Tale of 9 Million Years and a Night

Furry Jinxes

Chapter 1: The Tale of 9 Million Years and a Night

In this world of today, many ponies aren't used to the different, like being "blank flanks" in elementary. You have your regular earth pony, pegasi, and unicorn then you have the alicorn, everpony is used to that. But, when you're an earth pony that can "talk" to marine animals, y'know like fish? You're screwed. They'll tell you that your cutie mark or studstamp makes you special, that it's your special talent. Not quite like this. Sure everypony is fine when it comes to alicorn princesses moving the great astrals of space but, apparently, no pony can take a fish-whisperer colt seriously with out either laughing or making some stupid comment. I guess that's just how it is.

I never knew that. I thought maybe others might enjoy seeing my talent. Instead the words "fish-freak" and "gill-colt" came out and slapped me across the face along with reality. It was kind of calm at first, 'til they would find me after school and think it's funny to tease me even more. Tonight was just my night. It got... more physical.

My name is Aquatic Chance and, I am a victim of bullying.

Aquatic Chance layed on the roots of a tree, his body aching and his now black eye throbbing. He was a light blue huddled mass under the leaves in the pale moon light. His breathing was raspy, his head and back resting up on the trunk of the tree. His black eye was swollen shut, his vision blurry. He kept telling himself not to let them know about his 'talent' and to hide it away, that his dolphin studstamp just meant he was going to be a dolphin trainer. He didn't have to look at his lump of a body. He could tell where the bruises were and they were everywhere.

"Why can't I just die..." He whispered softly. He knew he shouldn't be saying that but it all hurt too much. He wasn't going to do anything bad of course but, you never know. Life was an emotional train wreck for him and he could have ended it when ever he wanted.

With the little vision he had left, he shifted his head a little upward to a faint purple light that was slowly crawling up the hill had caught his eye. It sparkled and shimmered and was offering warmth he never knew. Even though he couldn't see the source, he felt the need to reach towards it and hold it tight. He would hold onto it and never let go. He squinted once more as the light gradually grew brighter, enveloping the little vision he had left. No! I didn't mean it! I don't want to die! He thought drastically. During his panicking, the one purple light began to spread, his consciousness returning.

One purple, sparkly fish glided by him. Wait, what? For all he knew, he was on land! He blinked a little more as he began to gain the last bit of consciousness, his curiosity enticed. He noticed the fish seemed to be made of what seemed to be sparkly dust particles. The radiant fish was leaving a wispy trail of vanishing dust yet didn't seem to diminish in shape. Other lights began to catch his eye as not one, not two, but an entire school of fish began to gracefuly soar right pass him. He could make out the shapes of seals gracefully tumbling in the distance and turtles making their way through the glorious crowd of the sea. Dolphins played joyfully infront of him in the array of the ocean, all of these creatures creating the mask of the sparkly purple dust that moved with them, like currents in the vast ocean. Sharks, seemingly docile, would lumber through and crabs would scuttle on the ground, sometimes snapping at a passing fish, joining in on the fun. A giant squid would make his way through in the background as Aquatic Chance watched the magnificent way of the aquatic world that lives right beside us.

The different shades of purple gleamed off of his light blue fur, gleaming in his ocean blue eyes. He forgot his pain for a moment staring in awe of the welcoming sea above him. When he tried to get up, he was reminded of his injuries and simply layed where he was, one hoof on his stomach and another laying helpless beside him. He imagined the call of the dolphins, the swirl of the sea surrounding him and it comforted him. It just always did. Then the thoughts of the fists and name-calling overcame his dream land and snapped back into reality. Ponies didn't like him and he knew it, even if it meant exaggerating. At least, he thought he knew.

" Hey, are you ok?"

It was a filly's voice, one with concern that he didn't know. He wouldn't have known kindness after a scolding but it was better than the mockery he suffers everyday. His gaze flew downward onto the figure infront of him. It was the filly that had spoken to him, her horn shining. She was doing all of this. He didn't know what to make of her but, he saw that she was all battered up too but, not as badly as him. Her cheeks were wet, she must have been crying.

He wasn't sure why and he couldn't ask. He felt very weak but, this unicorn wasn't the normal unicorn that he saw every day. The unicorn was light purple with purple stripes and a long slightly darker purple mane than her coat with purple patches here and there. That was normal. However, there were also...feline attributes. Her tail lashed around like a cat to the point where noticed that the tail didn't seem to be comprised of actual hair until the end where it was bushy, it was a lion's tail! He noticed the tips of canines poking out between her lips and her ears were slightly more pointed than pony ears.

There was one more unsettling atrribute to finish this cat-like appearance. Her eyes. Along with her brillant purple coat she had yellow eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness and shone with brilliance and curiosity in the lightshow around them. Instead of the regular pony's pupil they seemed more narrow and cat-like. Aside from her appearance, he wondered why she was doing this. I must be imagining things. I'm already a lunatic! He thought wearily but, no matter how many times he blinked the filly didn't disappear.

Her name was Jester Jinx and she was the filly that was going to change his life.

Little did he know that he feel asleep under that tree with the cat-pony he just met. Groggily he opened his one good eye, another reminder that his left eye was swollen shut. Under the hoof that laid helplessly aside next to his body was the cat pony all curled up and sleeping soundly with his arm around her. His blue cheeks turned a bright shade of magenta as he sloppily lifted his arm and threw it onto his stomach with his other arm. Jester Jinx, although he didn't know her name yet, layed fastly asleep. He didn't know what to do. The morning was still early and he was some where on the outskirts of his town but, some could still find them! It would only escalate! What was he to do with this "new friend" of his?

After another few minutes of laying there the filly curled up next to him shifted and raised her head, a yawn escaping her mouth. He couldn't help but notice her array of sharp teeth unlike his normal pony ones. Jester Jinx stumbled up, gingerly stretching as most cats do while wincing. Her still sleepy eyes scanned the terrain around her then looked to Aquatic Chance himself. She blinked then took a step close to him.

"You don't talk much, do you?" She said, her yellow gaze penetrating his.

His eye widened "Of course I talk!" He replied back.

She giggled and grinned, showing off her canines "Good!" The cat-pony held out her hoof

"Need a hoof?" Aquatic Chance gave in a small gasp, his jaw hung slightly.

He had a look of confusion on his face. Why was this pony helping him? This pony must be new, no filly or colt has ever touched him with out inflicting some sort of physical pain. Shyly, he took the hoof and stumbled up. His body injured badly but, he was lucky that he could stand. The cat-pony still grinned, her tail lashing as it did last night.

"Why are you helping me?" Aquatic Chance blurted out. He couldn't help it. A pony was being nice to him, better yet a cat-pony-filly-thing.

The pony replied "Why wouldn't I?" I can think of a thousand reasons why! He would've said but, he held his tongue.

They began walking, slowly, down the hill. Aquatic Chance was limping and he noticed that Jester Jinx wasn't exactly walking straight either. He was going to protest but then let out a relieved sigh. "Hey," He said, protruding in the silence "I owe you one."

The filly next to him laughed "We're friends right?" She began with a giggle. Friends? I just met you! He wouldn't have said that directly of course. This filly was being nice to him! "Friends don't keep score!" She exclaimed surprisingly cheerfully. He didn't care. For once, he made a new friend and he wasn't letting this one go.

So they walked on, with small chatter here and there. The sun was beginning to rise a little higher than before and slight sounds of bird song was heard. After another few minutes of awkward silence, Aquatic Chance realized they were heading for the town.

"Why are we heading there?!" He exclaimed suddenly when he saw the town coming into horizon.

"You're hurt, aren't you?" She replied casually while her friend freaked out next to him.

"But, what about the townsfolk?! Haven't you seen what they've done to me?" He snapped back.

The filly had a look of realization "Oooooh, that was the townsfolk hurting you?" She stopped and planted her hoof on her forehead "I thought you got hit by a dolphin!"

Aquatic Chance turned around as quick as he could, which wasn't really quick and more like a wobble. "A dolphin? Really?" He couldn't help but, smile and chuckle a little bit.

The cat-pony rubbed her neck sheepishly and grinned widely "Well it's your cutie mark, isn't it?" She beckoned to his flank. Stud stamp... He thought slightly annoyed but, he wasn't going to say that now.

"Isn't that what's the dolphin doing? Belly-flopping?"

"It's diving!" He snapped, only the slightest bit annoyed. Then he sighed. This probably wasn't a good way to start a conversation better yet, keep it going.

"You're a special case, aren't you?" He joked but, to his surprise the filly said "Yep!" and bounded awkwardly over and they just kept walking, without a word.

They continued on and once they reached the entrance of said town, he halted. "You expect to just walk in there?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

The cat-pony turned towards him "Sure, why not?" She replied happy-go-lucky.

"W-well..." He began "Don't people run from you?"

The cat-pony laughed "That's silly! They don't run!"

Aquatic Chance looked at her in confusion "They...don't?" He said. Jeez, they can accept some cat-pony but, talking to a fish is weird! Sometimes I just don't understand Equestria! He thought in annoyance but, he pushed it away.

The cat-pony shook her head, her long mane shaking with it "Nope! Not at all!"

"Why not?" He asked as the two entered the town.

"Probably because no pony is here whenever I come." Her reply was in a casual tone. She's alright with that? Sweet Celestia, these ponies are weird! She was right. The town was barren. The dust road was stricken hooves all in every direction. Every now and then as they went deeper into the town, ponies of all race, age and color would peek out between their curtains and slam them shut if either one of them were to look in that direction.

"You're alright with that?" He asked, attempting his best to be inconspicuous. The cat pony, however, didn't reply. She didn't make any eye contact either but, he didn't press on. They just continued walking side by side. I gotta keep the conversation up! He decided by the Counsel of Dolphin Dreams in his mind.

"How do you expect to find somepony if they are all hiding?" He asked, his gaze sweeping the rows and rows of houses.

"I don't."

"Then how are you expecting to get us patched up?"

"Not us, you."

Aquatic Chance stopped "But, you're hurt too!" He exclaimed.

To his surprise, the cat-pony kept staggering on. She didn't reply for a couple of moments. Then she did. "So?" Her tone was dull, as if she suddenly lost all emotion.

His jaw opened slightly in dismay "So?! So you don't get an infection and die!" If only he could hear how foolish he was sounding but, he meant every word.

The cat-pony laughed and smiled "Die from a couple of cuts and bruises? Nah!" He half trotted, half limped to catch up and they kept walking soon arriving at the town's clinic.

"Hellooooo?" The cat-pony called out, banging hard on the door "Anypony home?" Aquatic Chance gave his friend the best 'seriously?' face he could muster. The cat-pony was thinking hard then "Aha!" she shouted with glee.

"Come on!" She said and beckoned him with her tail. She was climbing up a pile of boxes next to the clinic and half way up she stopped. "Are you coming?" Her yellow eyes fixed onto his blue eyes and he gulped.

"What are you planning?" He asked as he climbed up onto the first box. "I'm planning on getting you patched up."

"Not you, us."

"No, I'm pretty sure I meant you." They continued, squabbling as they climbed up the pile of boxes.

Aquatic Chance then placed his rump on the box he was standing on "Then I'm not moving until you promise me that you'll let the clinic heal you too!"

His friend stopped then grinned "Well then. As long as you get patched up!" She held out her hoof "Need a hoof?"

Aquatic Chance stopped again. He knew he wouldn't forget that phrase. It just felt...special to him. Probably because no pony ever asks him that. He just stood there with a blank face.

"Come on! We don't have all day!" She exclaimed and he took her hoof and she pulled him up. After they reached the top they both stopped "Now what?" He asked.

"Now..." She began and looked up. He didn't realize how high the box pile was 'til he looked up and saw how close to the clinic's roof they were. "The clinic got a new shipment of supplies a few days ago and that's why there are all these boxes. Now do exactly as I do!" She said quickly and leapt up, the first half of her body clinging onto the roof top and her legs flailing about. She was beginning to slide, hooves weren't fashioned for roof climbing "Help!" She screamed.

Aquatic Chance nodded and quickly took a step closer and got a face full of hind hooves "Ow! Crud, stop moving!" He shouted in annoyance. Jeez, those legs sure can kick" The flailing died down and he nudged her legs up and watched her crawl onto the roof.

She then turned around "Your turn!" She shouted. Aquatic Chance gulped and had a look of horror stuck upon his face "You expect me to go up there after you nearly fell to your DOOM?!" He shouted.

The cat-pony nodded "Pretty much. Why?" She grinned widely with a look of mischief gleaming in her eyes.

"But...BUT?!" Aquatic Chance stammered then fell into a series of mumblings and murmurs. He shut his eyes tightly and leapt, not daring to peak. He reached his hoof out and the cat pony reached out and clasped her hoof around his as she helped him slide up/climb up onto the roof. He was gasping breath simply because of fright but, he felt like he was going to vomit.

"If you need a paper bag," She walked over, put her arm around him and got real close then whispered "I don't have one." She backed off quickly with a giggle and he looked up with a slight look of annoyance.

"How is that supposed to help me!?"

"It isn't but, this will!" She said as she bit down on his tail and began dragging him over to something "Hey!" He protested but, didn't squirm. He still wanted his tail to look nice. Soon, she spun him around and what he saw...was a chimney. "How is a chimney supposed to help us?" He asked.

She laughed "Wow, really?" She began. He was to protest but, she interrupted him "We're going to be Santas!" She exclaimed.

"Wait, what?!" He shouted as the cat pony tackle-pounced him and they both tumbled down the chimney. Aquatic Chance hit the ground first with a thud and a cloud of ash rising around him.

Quickly he got up "Hey..." he began "I'm OKAY!" All in great timing, the cat pony fell on top of him and they were both a huddled mass. "Less okay..." He grumbled.

His body was aching even more. Why did she think they could do this with such injuries?! The cat pony lifted her head, shook her head to clear off some of the dust then finally got off him.

"Oh well, hello!" He heard the cat pony say cheerfully. Aquatic Chance lifted his head, blinking his eyes a few times before he noticed that the filly was talking to the Nurse who was cowering away, looking at her with a look of grimace. He staggered up, shook himself off like a dog then trotted over "My friend here needs patching up!" She continued.

"She needs it t-"He began but, the filly stuck a hoof over his mouth "He's insane, sadly." She explained with a look of fake pity in her eyes...or at least he thought it was fake.

The Nurse opened her mouth to say something then thought better of it, licking her dry lips. Then she tried again "I-I'm sorry...I-I-I can't do...non-pony folk..." She whispered quietly, talking about non-pony folk with a bitter tone. Aquatic Chance shoved the filly's hoof off his mouth "Hey! Don't talk about my friend like that!" He shouted before he realized what he had just done, now seeing how he had stepped between the nurse and the cat pony.

He looked over at the purple cat pony. His friend looked surprised. She was the one calling him her friend this entire time so, why was she looking at him with such a face? No matter. The cat-pony shook it off, shoving him aside, and she looked over at the nurse "You wouldn't let a filly and colt, alone and injured, stay with their wounds, would you?" She asked oh-so innocently, fluttering her eyelashes.

Aquatic Chance nodded, added on "It's bad for business."

He saw where she was going with this and after some narrowed glares from the nurse and cheesy, toothy grins from the younglings it worked. Reluctantly, the nurse began rummaging through her medical supplies, muttering to her self, so she can examine them as they both sat in chairs waiting for the relief of pain. The cat pony sighed and smiled a small smile, her tired eyelids finally closing. He lifted his arm, wincing, and put it on the cat pony's shoulder then watching it sloppily fall down back to his side. "Were you trying to tap me?" She asked, her eyes half open. His cheeks turned an incredibly light shade of magenta She's so soft...Wait, what am I thinking?!"

"I'm Jester. Jester Jinx." A voice said as he snapped out of his thoughts "What's yours?"

"Huh? Oh!" Aquatic Chance said stupidly "I'm Aquatic Chance."

"That's pretty long."

"No, it's not! It's average and yours isn't!"

"Can I call you Aqua?"

"No!" Aqua snapped before he could stop himself. Control yourself! He scolded himself. It was silent for a few moments except for the sounds of rummaging and that doctor's office smell. The cat pony- Jester Jinx- looked surprised with a hint of confusion and curiosity.

"I'll call you Aqua!" She decided smugly.

"Fine." Aqua grumbled and turned away. He heard hoof steps. The nurse was coming back. "Which one of you will go first?" She asked bitterly. Before he could react, Jester pointed a hoof at him and shouted "He can!" Aqua sat straight up, stammering as if he was trying to give a speech during an earth quake. "You. Go." The nurse ordered, pointing to a posh examination table. When he sat down, he felt a chill run up his spine, the metal table was so cold! He was definitely awake now.

The nurse followed him in with a clipboard. "Name?" She asked sternly.

"Aquatic Chance."

"Gender?"

You're kidding me, aren't you? He thought annoyed. "Colt."

"Are you sure of that?" She asked blankly

"Do I look unsure?"

"Can you prove it?"

"You're a colt molester, aren't you?" He blurted out suddenly.

The nurse didn't reply for a few moments, just pushed up her glasses and scribbled down on her clipboard. "Are you injured?"

"Are you really a nurse?" He snapped back. He could hear Jester snickering in the background, he was being pretty loud, and smirked.

The nurse didn't reply "Do you have family?"

"Does any family want you?" He shot back immediately. For every question the nurse asked, he shot back a nasty reply. He couldn't explain why he felt so rude but, so far, he was enjoying it. After a couple minutes of snarky replies came the last question.

"Are you currently in a relationship?"

"No but, I can tell that neither are you." Jester's snickering corrupted into a fit of giggles.

"Out. Now." The nurse ordered, massaging her temples.

Aquatic Chance slugged off the examination table of doom, trudging back to his chair. Opening the door, he said "Come on, Jester-"

"No." She said immediately. She crossed her arms and pouted like a little...er filly.

"The promise, Jester. You promised." He reminded, walking over carefully.

"I don't see a contract." She replied stubbornly.

"C-contract?!" He sputtered, raising an eyebrow "That's it!" He lunged awkwardly towards her and tugged on her leg, yanking his out of the chair. Jester Jinx, however, was expecting this and quickly turned, grabbing a hold of a chair leg.

"Nope!' She shouted "Nope, nope, NOPE, nope!" She kept repeating this phrase as Aqua continued to pull on her leg as it lashed about. Seeing as this wouldn't work, he sought another alternative. He let go of her leg and reached for her shoulders, hugging her around the neck/chest area and tugged.

"Nyah!" She pleaded "Aqua...stop!" Her grip on the chair leg stayed "Get OFF me!"

"I'm not even ON you!" He shouted back.

He heard the same echoing hoof steps of the Nurse as she walked in. "Alright, next- OH MY STARS!" She shouted in dismay, dropping her clipboard with her eyes wide open. Congratulations, your highlight of the day was being caught in a sex position with your best friend by a nurse. At least, that's it appeared to her. To their knowledge, Aqua was standing to the side. All he did was hug her around the shoulders.

"It's not what it looks like!" Aqua immediately blurted.

"How dare you attempt to perform intercourse in this clinic?!" She exploded, her nostrils flaring. She didn't seem like a pony anymore but, more like a bull. Better yet, what was the nurse seeing. Maybe she forgot her glasses because, they thought ti looked like nothing of the sort.

"Intercourse? What's that?" Jester asked. The two of them looked over at her, expecting a mischievous gleam in her eyes but she sat there innocently. She was only a filly, she wouldn't know what that is...right?

"Don't worry, Jester, she wouldn't know what that is." He explained smugly.

This provoked the nurse badly. The nurse shouted in rage "Just pay and get out!" She stomped her hoof down which echoed in the almost vacant clinic.

The two friends exchanged glances "P-pay?" Jester whispered, looking at the nurse in dismay.

The nurse was really becoming fed up now "Yes, PAY!"

Both of them gulped, "H-how much?" Aqua asked, hoping that the nurse was joking. Pay for what? All they did was a check up, it wasn't even a complete one!

"35 bits." She replied, eyeing them as if they were bugs in an extermination site.

"35?!" The two shouted in unison, both of their jaws dropping.

"All we did was a check up, it wasn't even a complete one!" Aquatic Chance pointed out, it was his turn to stomp his hoof down on the wood flooring of the clinic.

"But, you asked for two appointments, it's not my fault that they weren't complete." She shot back with a specific venom in her voice.

"Kinda is." Jester murmured singy-songy but, the nurse didn't seem to hear.

"The payment." She ordered.

The two stood there. They exchanged frightened glances then created nervous grins that seemed to stretch their jaw further than it should go. They couldn't help but, laugh through their jittery teeth. Their brows were beginning to sweat as they kept the staring contest going between them and the giant bull nurse who looked as if she were about to explode right in front of them

"Well, you see...uh..." Aqua began,

"We don't have any money...So...Yeah." Jester stated bluntly. She just had to be naïve, didn't she? Aqua asked him self rhetorically.

"NO MONEY?!" The nurse yelled, their manes nearly blowing back as she rained spit across their faces. and blew up their ear drums. The nurse grabbed the two young ones and marched to the door. After kicking it open, she threw them out and watched them land in the dust road of the town "NO MONEY, NO SERVICE!" She shouted then slammed the door with a great BANG!

Jester and Aqua sat there in the dust for a while then staggered up silently. That wasn't considered filly abuse? Aqua thought. They stared at the worn, wooden door of the clinic then back at each other. They stared at each other blankly for a while then erupted into a fit of laughter.

"Did you see the look on her face?" Aqua said in between relieved laughter.

"See her face? Could you smell her breath?" She replied back, nearly falling over.

"I'm still trying to wipe the spit off my face!" He was clutching his stomach, nearly about to collapse.

There they stood, laughing like good friends. All those little times that he needed help, she was there. Today Aquatic Chance had the opportunity to make a new friend and he accepted it. After their long fit of laughter, they began to walk back to the tree where they met. It was about possibly 10:30 in the morning and already did they begin a brand new day off right.

Once it become quiet, Jester spoke "Hey," She began shyly "I owe you one."

He guessed it was about the clinic. Nonetheless Aquatic Chance smiled, his eyes warm "Don't you remember? Friends don't keep score!"

She chuckled "You're right. I have taught thee well!" She said, slipping into a phony medieval accent. Then she looked forward, smiling more than ever before "Can I ask you something?" Jester inquired, back to her normal voice.

"Go for it."

"What's intercourse?"

I don't even.

I need an adult.

3816983 and that's the part that scares me the most.

Alright, there's one thing I would like to make clear.
No fillies/colts did anything that might seem related to clop in this fic. The nurse caught them at a bad time and angle. :facehoof: Right now, that's what it looks like people are thinking.
Better yet, the characters aren't like 5 or 6, they are around pre-teen age. They are both between the ages of 11 - 13 but, they are still young therefore I considered them filly and colt. I just thought I needed to clear that up.
Thank you for reading.

Much forgive me, I've just always wanted to do that.:twilightblush:
