Disclamer: This contains two spoiler characters from episodes later in the season. In this fic, they will most likely be NOTHING like the way the cartoon will portray them so apologies in advance for probably a huge amount of OOC after that ep hits in April. Also, I do not intend for this fic to be any more violent than the Lord of The Rings movies. Hopefully I can make an interesting story without using violence at all, but things may change depending on where I decide to go.

Shining Armor, a young colonel in Equestria's army is getting ready for a huge battle with Prince More Dread who wants to claim the throne in Canterlot for himself. Due to its nature, the war forces Shining Armor to make tough decisions while still clinging to a broken moral compass. He seems outnumbered and outmaneuvered, but he remembers someone he met whose friendship and love he has to count in if he wants to succeed against More Dread.

PS: Any type of criticism is welcome. I want to improve my writing any way I can.

Interesting. Your writing's not bad, to me, but then I'm pretty amateurish :twilightsheepish:

that's a nice image of a stallion

where did you get that picture by the way?

324221 See the link at the top of the first chapter. I got it from DeviantArt.

Interesting work. However I find it very odd that ponies have cavalry.

I might pick this back up, actually. I have a lot more time than I thought I would.

Dammit, I wish I could have finished this before the finale though because now it's like an AU grimdark fanfiction. I might just rewrite this whole thing so that it fits in with the actual show, but still has a similar premise to what I wrote. Now that I think about it, I really really really don't want to introduce any sort of real warfare as I don't think that fits in with the tone of the show and hell, no one comes here to read about military conflict. That's just no fun and not the point of ponies although I did enjoy writing that dueling scene. I need to figure out a way to keep that in there without making it a part of a military conflict.
