I have noticed a complete and utter lack of licensing on the site, so figured I'd just go ahead and give everyone a heads-up.

At long last, I've started working on my next story.
The scope of it surprised even me. While it is comparatively small, my perfectionism and obsession drive me to dig into tons of material for the sake of pumping out a few lines. World-building and analysis are my long-time passion, but world-building must stand on firm factual ground to maintain suspense of disbelief. It must be believable to become truly immersive, and that is not as easy as one may think.
So I got something of an alarming E-mail tonight. Apparently Hasbro Studios, LLC just blocked the video I made for Elements of Insanity with the lyrics of Twilight's song in chapter-1 set to the tune of Sherclop Pones Pinkie's Brew. Not just some automated claim either, but a manual one, meaning ostensibly some real person looked at my video and decided to get rid of it.
I'm not sure that we can do anything to fight this in eroupe, but it's still important to note how people's rights to make creative things. article 13 recently passed in eroupe, and is about to go into affect, if it does it will serioulsy damage our ability to create pretty much anything. Even something as simple as a meme or a fan song. This will come over here and affect us in the states if it doesn't stop soon. So please, spread the word and help us keep our nerdy, fandom stuff. So apparently the Original Ponies the Anthology video got taken down from YouTube because Kayne claimed copyright infringement for the use of his song "Power". The solution? Kazoos.

It's been a good ride, y'all. But today, Articles 11 and 13 of the EU Copyright Directive passed with no amendments. We're likely about to see a massive purge of user-generated content if it even has a 'risk' of violating copyright due to the implementation of bots and algorithms meant to delete anything that 'could possibly' violate copyright in an attempt to keep the now-liable web platforms that host our content safe from lawsuits.
So, I don't know how many of you have heard about the EU's new copyright charter, and I don't know how many of you actually live in the EU (and those in the UK, ya'll still technically there, so you should listen up), but this is bad.
The EU screwed us over for personal gain. Some claim they voted wrong by accident.
Demand a revote by this petition to make them put their money where their mouth is.
We can still have the Council reject the law around April 9th through further waves of protesting.
The german parliament voted an election about the german government's stand on the copyright reform down which means that it goes directly to the council. The SPD betrayed us. Told us they were against it, voted against it in the parliament and suddenly defended it now. Sides with the CDU.
We're probably just bucked...
Well, Youtube copyrights struck again, this time to my Twilestia tribute set to Rod Stewart's Maggie May, which I think is absolutely beautiful song. But alas, because of the damn copyright, I had to switch out the song for a piece of classical music, (The same one I had to use from my Don't Fear the Reaper video a while back.) even when I said the song was used in a parody and I made no money off of it and gave proper credit to the artist.
So, I just got done reading the copyright and fair use laws. Ugh... basically, it's impossible for artists and other creators to turn a profit on their works (fan fiction or fan art) even when it's pretty obvious the "product" is not official. I guess some companies are pretty lenient, but when I can't seel my drawings because, god forbid, some asshole thinks my character is copyrighted -ahem- DA prints reviewer -cogh- by someone who didn't create her.
Remember that EU copyright law from a few months back? Well, if you haven't heard, it was narrowly passed yesterday. But don't go holing up in a bunker with an assault rifle and printouts of your Read Later shelf just yet.
The user now has a week to remove his video or he will receive a copyright strike on his YouTube channel. I’ve tried to resolve this peacefully, but he forced my hand, so consider me giving him a week instead of immediately taking it down my final mercy towards him.
Now, when he’s upset about his video being taken down, he should remember this: I offered my hand in peace, and he simply cast it aside. We could’ve talked about this like civilized people.

If some of you have experience with YouTube and this kind of situation, please help her, because I have no idea what to do in this case but I am very enraged by this situation. "Where's the Fair Use" controversy is bad enough, but THIS SHIT?!
