    Dear Bronies and Pegasisters,

I know it's been a while, but while I had some time I figured to let you all be aware of what's going on.

Notes from Unfinished Stories and Opportunity

    Dear Bronies and Pegasisters,

I know I have been quiet for the past several months, but in case you didn't know, allow me to explain.

I've decided that since I have twelve stories that are still unfinished, I'm going to re-read them to see how to plan them out. And while I was reading and making notes, I've come to a realization. Something to give you, the reader, a unique opportunity.

    Plans Going Forward

    Dear Bronies and Pegasisters,

Before anyone out there get any ideas that, "Hey, Cracked, I have an idea for a story, do you take up requests?" Or if any of you beg for a sequel from any of the more recent stories, I'm gonna have to do something that I never thought I would say here.

    No.

So... About "The Beatle." · 4:55am Nov 16th, 2019

Dear Bronies and Pegasisters,

If you are following the story, you might have noticed that there have been some changes with it. Particularly in the lyrics. I have been notified that posting copyright lyrics is against the rules. I had to rewrite where there was meant to be lyrics and replace them with a short synopsis or the reaction of the characters that were listening or playing the songs. This indeed has thrown a wrench into the story, but be rest assured, the story will still continue. Apparently, I am allowed to write in the titles of the songs or post reference videos, even outright describing them in some way, but I'm not to mention the lyrics themselves.

While this is disappointing, I have not discouraged by this. If anything, even with this, I still see it as a challenge.

After all, restriction is the mother of creativity.

Signed,

- CrackedInkWell.

An artists best work is always done while under pressure.
Just look at J.K. Rowling.

Wait, wait...
The lyrics in your story ?!

Yeah, I quoted some of the Beatles lyrics a little too directly and I didn't know that was against the rules until an admin brought it up. Copyright lyrics that weren't a pony song too, actually.

I've always found that odd; you can't put copyrighted song lyrics in, but you can link videos of songs with copyrighted lyrics. Odd.

One of the easy solution is to replace human jargon with the pony puns.

‘I Want to Hold Your Hoof’ just doesn't have the same ring to it.

No, no, it's "restrictions breed creativity", do you even Mark Rosewater? (I initially used the short form of his name but I wanted something you could Google if you didn't already know about it)

Right. For the record, that is by far the most pathetic example of a 'Little Hitler' that I have seen.

As in, give someone a little power and they take over like Hitler. It's a common phrase, at least in my part of the world.

Man, what a killjoy.
How many more fanfics on this site are ripe for the picking ?

Yes, sure. The lyrics are copyright. But copyright also allows for fair use and parody - which pertains to this instance.

No lawyer would look at a My Little Pony fanfic, which credits the Beatles as creators and launches into what is arguably a parody of a performance, then claim copyright infringement.

Tell this admin to go find a funny bone.

Possibly for us. Since ponies don't have hands to begin with.

I specifically mentioned that you could Google it. Seriously, the first result is his Twitter and the second is his Wikipedia page. That and context should be enough. Please tell me you did that while waiting for me to reply because it's blatantly faster than said waiting seriously why do people do this?

I did. Also I was unaware that there was a variation of what I said from guy who created a game that I've never played.

Which is where the "and context" comes from, unless you've already forgotten how this conversation started (in which case, scroll up a bit)
