Masked Beauty Rewrite? · 10:51pm Feb 28th, 2017

Masked Beauty was one of my first few stories and I have grown and changed with my writing a lot more. I originally wanted to have it be an all happy story, but after I published the first few chapters, I wanted to have a twist, so I added in a few things and it got more and more hard for me to write the way I wanted to write it. I realized that I was updating it monthly by the most, so I can't figure out a way to put it all together. I have decided to think more on it, and keep the current one

New Fanfic author seeking advice · 3:37am Oct 29th, 2015

So hello everypony, My name is Midnight mane and as the title suggests, I would like to start writing a fanfic. My only problem is I don't know where to start, I got the whole story practically playing in my head. But when I try to get it out, I just get lost in words. So if you have any advice on how I could get more organized I would greatly appreciate it.

Sort of important news! Also, I kinda made the feature box. . . · 4:00am Sep 15th, 2012

First, and most important: The View From the Window. If you're looking for a fanfic that reads like a novel set in Equestria, this is it. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I haven't been this excited to see more from an author since I found a weird, sprawling fic by this guy named Church.

This is short and important (not really) · 8:04pm Nov 13th, 2018

It's not THAT important, but like-- keep in mind, monocles work like glasses, but for one eye. So if a character loses a monocle, this should affect their depth perception! It's not necessary to mention if it's unimportant, but it might make for an interesting inconvenience. Which is why I'm mentioning it.

Monocles are my favorite thing, so I felt like I had no choice but to point it out. Also, have a nice day! Remember to eat lunch and take medication and all that.

I'm stuck. · 8:12am Jun 12th, 2018

Alright guys, I've reached that point. I'm officially stuck with fixing the balance. I have no clue how to continue the story.
I'm just going to give it to you straight; FTB has more views than my other story, project horizon, yet I feel a lot more comfortable writing for the latter. This comes down to P-horizon being set in a first person perspective, whereas FTB is third person. And given that I'm arguably better at writing first person perspective stories, I'm unsure about it now.

vren55's Little Life Wisdoms #1 "You only know your own story" · 7:41am Feb 22nd, 2019

So one of my family members is slogging through the utter hell that is a Masters program at university and she needed advice about friendships. Won't go into details, but she mentioned, for the second time, "vren55, when did you get so wise?" after I finished giving her a particular tidbit.

I feel completely alone, yet can never socialize · 4:46am Aug 10th, 2015

I like to try finding someone/some people to talk to or that I know I can turn to for company (Maybe even by the 1 in a million chance, a girlfriend), the problem with that is the fact that I'm incredibly introverted; I kinda have a hard time listening, plus I can never really find anything to talk about other than my interests to others and barely anyone in my area share the same interests as me resulting in it being incredibly hard to hold a conversation with someone i'm trying to meet for

You’re working on a bunch of stories all at once right? Do you ever feel like you’re spread too thin? Or, do you have some kind of system? I kind of want to write myself, so I’m asking.

What will happen to Dylan? · 5:02am Dec 5th, 2017

I need an opinion... It has come to my attention that some people don't like time skips. Later on in the story, I was going to do a three years later thing for Dylan, making him 18. After a few chapters I would get him into a sex scene...

BUT... What do you guys think? Should Dylan go through his puberty phase instead of me skipping to him at 18? It would make the story MUCH longer.

Honestly... I wouldn't mind working on the story longer. It would give Dylan more character development.

Writing Queer-Related Characters · 11:55pm Mar 11th, 2022

Hey guys.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written any blogs like this. I’ve looked back on some of my other advice blogs I’ve written some time after I first joined this site. And while I’ve gotten mostly positive feedback for them, the advice itself in the blogs, or at least how it was presented, could use some work.

And I’m here to talk about a bit of a delicate subject, which is homosexuality representation in stories.

Hello dear readers, Warrior Priest here. I'm reaching out to you all today with a humble question. Well, maybe it's not to humble. You see, I have had a few ideas for stories floating around in my head, some even have a full synopsis and chapter lists. But, being so abound with energy and inspiration can be a detriment as much as it is a blessing. I simply cannot decide which story to focus on writing next. That is where you all come in. I ask that you consider the following options, and give

Advice For New Writers #2 · 11:04pm Feb 8th, 2016

Hello everyone of this beloved community where we all gather to share our tales! (Pun not intended. Seriously)

So I wanted to make a part two of my other Advice For New Writers post, for I thought that there is still more things that are needed to cover. And in fact, I was right. I only provided how to fix writer's block, but I didn't proceed further by giving more for you newbies here. So, to fix that, I will make this one dedicated to First Appearances!

Is Writing Supposed to Be Fun? · 10:18pm May 3rd, 2022

After some thinking, a lot of advice, and a bit of writing and writer's block, I'm starting to think that writing isn't supposed to be fun anymore. I'm not trying to cause trouble. I just wanted to know if writing is supposed to be fun or not. What do you guys think?

CA: Making a Character Wrong · 7:50pm Aug 27th, 2015

Another addition to the Cumulative Advice blog I've been writing; this one focuses on misconceptions as a core idea. The most fundamental misconception in all of literature occurs when the reader assumes that if a character believes (or says) a thing, then that thing must be true. This assumption undermines the very concept of characters as people, since it goes against the first rule of humanity:
