Carol of the Day: Dec 8th · 9:35pm Dec 8th, 2019

Today's carol comes from the Great White North. This is Canada's oldest christmas song, Huron Carol, as performed by the Five Fifths.

The carol was written circa 1642 by Jean de Brébeuf, a Jesuit missionary to the Hurons in Ontario, Canada. Using the indigenous cultural imagery, Jean translated the nativity story into Wendat.

Blog fics, HCHL, Carole & Tuesday · 4:06pm Oct 22nd, 2019

I'm considering dumping two new fics into my blog like I originally did with Sincerely, Starlight. One is a RariTwi fic that I'm having doubts about from a creative standpoint, and another is an edgy OC story idea I had that sounded fun to write, but lacked any solid direction. If I could find an editor or pre-reader for either one, my feelings might change, but right now I'm not feeling super confident in these stories. Sincerely, Starlight had some decent attention when I

A Hearth's Warming Tail review · 8:45am May 15th, 2016

Another week, Another episode. Today, is our annual musical episode. We've had these episodes as far back as the season 2 finale and while some have been good (like Crusaders of the Lost Mark and Magical Mystery Cure) there are others that have been not so much (Pinkie Pride). I've enjoyed all the songs in the show so far and think Daniel Ingram is a phenomenal songwriter but a couple of these songs just aren't quite my favorite. This is now the third Hearth's Warming episode and it calls back

Review: Carol (2015) · 12:11am Feb 24th, 2016

I suppose it could have been worse, I guess.

Director Todd Haynes crafts an incredibly subdued, sedate cinematic examination of lesbianism in the 50s, and, while the film is certainly beautiful to look at, it's central storyline is marred by unintentionally unsympathetic main protagonists, and a general sense of been-there-done-that in regards to it's depiction of lesbianism, and the well worn and overdone 'illicit romance' movie formula.
