Twilight is old and weak. She has lived a good, long life, and as the last of the Elements of Harmony, she accepts her death. She goes to Canterlot now, to say goodbye to the princesses. But they have one last gift to give the student. The chance to meet their creators and see something truly wonderful...

During the daily ritual to lower the sun to raise the moon, Princesses Celestia and Luna have their abilities locked. At the same time, a new, yet familiar, alicorn crashes into the throne room of the castle.

This is the second Friendship is Magic fic I've written, though I've tried some new things this time around. In my head, it does come after my first fic and my as-of-now unwritten second fic, though I think it can be stand-alone just fine. It doesn't really refer to the events of "The Party's Loyalty," and while it does make one offhand comment in regards to the second one I originally planned, I think it can be safely read without knowing much.

How do you cope when all your friends are dying of old age around you, but you seem not to be growing older at all? Twilight Sparkle tackles this problem for herself the only way she's ever known how: research, and then contacting Princess Celestia for advice. The explanation she gets is nothing like what she could have expected, and it will change Twilight's life forever.

Twilight Sparkle is called away to tend to Luna when she falls ill. As Luna grows sicker and Twilight more determined to help the younger princess, she begins to uncover dark secrets about the elements, the alicorns, and her own past.
