Things You Should Be Reading, or Ice Star has Tainted all These Stories in Some way · 12:16am Nov 2nd, 2020
Hello all my gremlins, I come to tell you that I've been slacking somewhat on my writing. It's finals and it is much easier to read in what little free time I have than to work hard at non-assignment writing. But this means I have many lovely stories to throw at you that I have had my hand in and the like. Normally I do a shared promo blog for these stories featuring one or two stories, but because I've been slacking blog-wise, I have more to share.
Check them all out below!
First up is an amazing story by the one and only Posh. I've recently devoured it, and if you haven't heard of Posh, you should. He's one of the most criminally underrated authors on the site. I have been following his work for a while, and this is by far a must-read of Posh's pieces. It's a thematic and limited character crossover with Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Even better than that, it is written so that people who are not fans of the franchise will be able to have an easy introduction. For anyone who has been dissatisfied with slews of inconsequential slice of life stories and aren't in the mood for the site's usual meme-y comedies and feature box fare, please check this one out. Epic dark magical girl action, dimensional conundrums, and serious character examination. There is currently 61k of criminally under-noticed goodness and compelling darkness sitting around for anyone who wants to have something to catch up on. Posh consistently brings high-style prose, clever dialogue, and emotionally charged writing in all his stories. Read his stories or else.
I admittedly only helped with the description of this story, yet I was credited for being helpful anyway. So should you read this story? Of course, you should, I'm advertising it, you dolts. For anyone who wants canon-divergent fun, Equestria Girls universe world-building, and a light-drama romp of a novella, here you go. It's much lighter fare than Posh's story but still has loads of character development. The series is fun to follow and Krickis provides high-quality queer fiction that's accessible to any Fimfiction reader and regular updates. If you aren't ready to read the four novellas, three novels, and short story that precede this one, Krickis does provide a link in the description for new readers who want to catch up. She writes in such a way that the stories can be read at multiple points even if none of them technically stand-alone. Even if you're not a returning reader like me, you'll probably enjoy the cross-dimensional vacation of Sunset, Fluttershy, Twilight, and Spike in this neato future fic.
Sci-fi is admittedly not a genre I'm good with, but Fillyfoolish is always an author with exciting ideas. For folks who can't find what they want in the first two stories, this story has a genre that's a break from dark and drama-lite: time travel. Combine that with a post-show storyline, cult antics, and autistic lesbian unicorn (and Alicorn) shipping in the making. Starlight Glimmer, Moondancer, Sunset Shimmer, and Twilight Sparkle have to protect royal property, spooky secrets, and more. It's Filly's first mega-long project too, and I got to pre-read this one. Anyone who wants some out-there action, thoughtful autistic representation, and math jokes should give this one a click.
You know you want to.
Anyway, I'll be back to my own projects and your regularly scheduled icewords when finals are over.

I accept this sin.
Why do you have to ruin everything I love with your presence, only to make it better?
