When Shepherd shows "The Little Mermaid" to his Pony friends...

Fluttershy: So... She traded her voice and possibly her soul just for legs? That seems... A bit much.

Twilight: Isn't she a demigoddess? Shouldn't transforming be one of her powers? It's not that hard a spell to learn.

Applejack: Aw ain't sure o' her jest abandonin' her family like this over some guy she ain't even conversed with. Even after her daddy broke her stuff, it's a little too fast fer me.

Rarity: Ugh. Whose idea was it to give a redhead a pink dress?!

Pinkie: Hee hee hee! I like watching the crab! So many puns this movie didn't make...!

Dash: Ugh, JUST KISS HER ALREADY, IDIOT! Or kiss him! What, does he need a map?!

Shepherd: In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't start with Sleeping Beauty...

Imagin if it was the original version

You think this is bad? Try Romeo and Juliet, where a couple of teenagers kill themselfs after meeting for, what, 2 days?

Maker-fuck-me-hard, that would be an unmitigated disaster for the ponies. Original Hans Christian Anderson stories would not go over well with the pony crowd, I imagine.

Hah! You want to culturally enrich them? Show them Alien or Saving Private Ryan. Or Robocop for that good ol' fashioned, healthy 80s ultra-violence. Or Under Siege, before Segal completely lost his mind.

Twilight: "What's this movie here? Debbie Does Dal—"
Shepherd: *Yanks tape from Twi's magic grasp* "OKAY that's not for little ponies."

I think that's probably the most understandable thing with those two. Let's not forget, Romeo only decided he was in love with Juliet because her older sister made a vow of celibacy.

I wanna know what stage show/movie/etc. was exchanged back. Nightmare Moon rock opera, anyone?

5182171 Oh, come on. Rocky Horror Picture Show!!

5182175
I mean, yeah, there's probably punny mirrored versions of things. There's gotta be other stuff, though.
Was also a cover on one of the comics collections, oddly enough.

No Twilight, being a Princess among the merpeople does not mean you are the equivalent of an Alicorn. Triton’s magic is so strong because he’s the rightful king.

Rarity, I feel your pain and have always wondered that exact thing.

Applejack, she’s only sixteen. I seem to remember a story about how you got your cutie mark...

5182128
Ah, but in that case they’re SUPPOSED to be being dumb and that’s the tragedy. It’s not actually a romance.

5182122
How bad is it?

5182138
Sorry but I had to look this up. Turns out that Rosaline was Juliet's cousin, not her sister. I didn't even realize they were related. :facehoof:

To spoil the ending? The Prince chooses to love another, but Ariel's sisters get her the option to murder him to get out of her contract. She debates this, decides she can't do it, and per her contract turns into sea foam. Actually an Air Spirit that will need to do good deeds for 300 years before she can enter Heaven. :twilightoops:

Oh, well, it's been a few years since I read it myself.

Like a number of Shakespeare plays, it was an adaptation of an already-existing story. A parable about kids needing to obey their parents.

On the other hand she does get to enter heaven, having earned a soul, which most merpeople do not have.

The heck with Romeo and Juliet. Start with Shakspeare's 'Ancient Roman Chainsaw Massacre' AKA Titus Andronicus. Then again that might be better reserved for dragons and griffons.

Garble: "AW YEAH! They just chopped that chick's tongue and hands off! No one ever told me culture was this awesome!"

Clump: "I loved that evisceration in the first scene; we gotta show this to everyone back in the Dragonlands."

5182130
This is Hands!Twilight though. She might want to watch that for science! (and to better understand Earth erotic culture:twilightsmile:)

Hence why Shepherd immediately took it away from her before she could find out what it was about. :raritywink:

And Smolder should watch Hamlet. Everybody dies!
She likes the stories with depressing endings.

Fun fact, the whole Song of Ice and Fire series was inspired by the Henriad cycle.

Personally, I think Smol-chan would like Kumonosu-jō, "Spider Web Castle." The English release even renamed it Throne of Blood. And she'd love Ran.

I know I love those two movies. Might also add Onibaba and Kuroneko to that list. They're dark enough though they might get a little steamy (heh) for a young dragon.
