Looking Back on My Stories: Day Three · 8:02am Jun 12th, 2019
I've published a lot of stories. I'm going to be briefly looking back at them, with a specific eye for how likely they are to end up in my anthology (with some editing probably).
I remember this one, but I don't remember how good it is, only that I was surprised by the downvote ratio. Will have to reread to decide, so for now I'm giving it a 5/10
The interview chapter was the first pony fanfiction I ever wrote. But the mods claimed that typical interview format is in fact a script format and thus not allowed. So I had to change it to a "He said, she said" sort of thing in order for them to let me publish it.
I like how each chapter I did differently and even if a lot of people flamed me for the cover art (back when there were more 4channers on this site), it holds a special place in my heart. I'd like to tidy up and finish this story with a few more chapters, but at the very least, I'm publishing the original interview that started it all, in script format. Mods can eat my entire ass. 9/10One of my few bittersweet stories, this one continues to hold a good rating ratio and a lot of people said it made them cry. I'm not super attached to it, but it would be a good break from the shit fics. 6/10
White Space was my first big hit. I wrote the main bit in about two hours at the Lamppost Pizza off Culver and Walnut in Irvine, California, and wrote the epilogue on my phone (back when using your phone to write pony words was a huge fucking pain in the ass) in a van driving up the coast of California enroute to a Big Sur biology field studies trip with Irvine Valley College. This story put me on the FimFiction map. When authors hung out at the first BABSCon, I was able to say, "Hey, I'm the guy who wrote White Space". I think this is probably still my most reviewed story. And people by and large liked it. Even Horse Voice thought it was scary. I don't know how I got it right, but I did. I don't have the best relationship with Meeester, but I've always been thankful to him for letting me publish the story so minimalistically, which is what drove a lot of the initial attention. Now if only I could get around to writing the fucking sequel. 10/10.
One of my first and best shitfics (with a great sequel too!). Was written rather quickly, probably also at Lamppost Pizza. I used to hang out there a lot back in the day. I might have been living in my car at the time. Anyway, I don't know why this one got so popular, but it is, and it's likely going in. 10/10
Huh, I would have sworn there was a bigger gap between the previous story, and this, its sequel, but apparently not. Anyway, while I'll have to reread it, I recall the being one of my better-written comedies, not to mention my second-longest complete story. Isn't that sad, that a story less than 5,000 words long is my second largest finished story? Anyway, I specifically remember using the "islands" writing method to write this, where you start with islands of text and build out from them until you start connecting them into a complete story. 9/10
Ah, fuck here come the petunia postings. Another one of my failed literary wanks. Well, I mean, I got some of the stories done. This one is listed and incomplete though. I'll have to reread this, but I don't recall it being much more than middling. Also one of my least-commented on story, so uh, show it some love? 3/10
One of my highest-rated stories, and one of my few pony-on-earth stories, and one of the better petunia stories. But there's just... not much happening here? idk, will have to reread. 6/10
Another nothingburger, but people seemed to like it in the comments, so.... ??? 5/10
At the time, I thought this was a decent comedy. Will have to reread to decide if that still holds true. Fuck, I'm gonna have to reread this whole fucking cycle, aren't I? 7/10
Me being a maudlin fuck. There is literally no reason to include this story in the anthology, unless I were to miraculously complete the Petunia Cycle and then only for completeness sake. 1/10
I know that's eleven stories, but I wanted to finish all the published Petunia Cycle stories. Maybe I can finish the unfinished ones some day too. HAHAHAHAHA!
And that's the third batch. What do you think of them, readers? Seriously, feedback is appreciated!
#2 is the first story of yours I ever read.

I seem to recall you not thinking highly of it.

I did not! Though in its defense, it was in good company. :B Which is to say, bad company.
Goddamn bat ponies...
