Hello, Wonderfolk! It's-a my birthday!

I woke up this morning super tired and grumpy, because it's a Monday and I had to go back to work. But one after another, delightful things began to happen. My wife surprised me with gourmet French toast, my favorite breakfast that I almost never have. I put on a new outfit and came into work where my boss gave me a hand-knit tie that she created for me in secret. I'm wearing it as I type.

I've gotten emails and text messages from my eccentric mom, my favorite sister living in Hawaii, my radical dad, and a certain lovely lemur. I've gone from feeling tired and grumpy to feeling remembered, cared for, and giddy. In the space of a couple of hours, kind gifts and compliments have given me a proverbial breath of fresh air, and I'm starting a new year of my life with a smile.

I'd like to thank so many of you -- all of you, in fact -- who have contributed to some of my happiest moments in the last several years. I became a brony as a teenager, and now I'm a 24 year old with a boring job and a gorgeous wife and a balding head. I have more ideas than I've ever had, but far less time and enthusiasm to bring them to life in any sort of medium. Nevertheless, I've experienced just the right flavor of fame with the likes of The Sisters Doo and A Wonky Anthem. I'm writing a novel I care about, I've happily returned to casual fanfiction production/consumption, and I've come to terms with what I believe and what matters most to me. Being Ponky and making friends here on this site has contributed enormously to my sanity and experience, and I thank you all for that.

I finally saw the trailer for the My Little Pony movie this weekend, and I absolutely loved it. I'm proud to be a brony, even if my submersion has waned since 2012, and I'm excited to feel no shame when I buy a ticket and walk into a movie theatre with every intention of enjoying a traditionally animated cartoon about colorful talking horses.

I hope your birthdays this year were/will be pleasant ones, Wonderfolk, and I'm grateful to associate with you. Have a great August 28, and enjoy Ponkday 2017 with me wherever you are.
