I pity the man who has known no struggles, for it is only through hard times that we know who we truly are.

    NPR Short Story

I'm not quite sure why I wrote this short story, but eh, why not pass it along anyway? It's a bit on the macabre side of the house, might be because I've been reading Lovecraft and others recently. Though I'd say the scariest part about this thing is that it's unedited. But, just in case dark isn't your thing, no worries, and tanks for dropping in. For all others... enjoy. I guess?

Quick Question For My Readers Of Friendly AC-130

So, I've actually got a bit of a serious question to ask you all. I've got two separate paths this story can take, the first is the one that I've always planned for and it will be pretty long, the other is a little adventure which would be considerably shorter before wrapping up the loose ends. The first one is the one I really want to write, but I'm grappling a bit with the fact that it might

    Bad Omen

So Chapter 5 should be arriving after a few people pre-read and edit for me. Barring any major changes it should be up by next Friday at the latest, otherwise I'd say expect it Wednesday. If you want to pre-read it PM me.

Quick Question For My Readers Of Friendly AC-130 · 6:43am Feb 23rd, 2017

So, I've actually got a bit of a serious question to ask you all. I've got two separate paths this story can take, the first is the one that I've always planned for and it will be pretty long, the other is a little adventure which would be considerably shorter before wrapping up the loose ends. The first one is the one I really want to write, but I'm grappling a bit with the fact that it might not be exactly what people expected when they came into this story(I've used a few other people as a soundboard for the idea already). What are your thoughts? Play it safe? Or gamble a bit in the hopes of producing a wild ride that will hopefully satisfy and leave a lasting impression of the story? Let me know what your thoughts are, and if you have any non-spoilerish related questions feel free to fire away.

Do it, nerd. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

There will be no clarification of this, don't ask.

I would say go for the long version I really want to see where this goes.

I say go for the long version and then do the shorted one after if you still want to. I would like to see both....but then again I'm greedy lol

Dan

By all means, tackle serious subjects, but please avoid the Dark and Gore tags and the like.

Think of Sgt. Oddball.

Be bold and write the kind of story you want to write & would want to read. Dare to dream, to do, to defy expectations!

do what feels good to you

At the end of the day, writing stories here on FiMfiction isn't making you a living, nor bringing you fame (internet fame doesn't count in this sense) and certainly not fortune. It can help you develop skills you could transfer into writing other things of course, but that's the extent.

The highest goal you should seek to attain with writing fanfiction is 'do you enjoy the writing journey?' of anything you set out to create. Be receptive to feedback and criticism, sure, but only use it to learn how to improve and never to drive your work places you don't want.

Write the story you want to see and don't sweat it if some people decide it isn't for them. People with similar tastes to yours will enjoy it. That's the part that matters.

It's what I do, myself.

Write the better story, whichever you feel that one to be.

Though I vote long story, because I devour over 1000 word per minute.

Well, I've upvoted nigh every comment here, indicating my agreement. My work is done.

Provided that you don't go totally off on the promises the synopsis had that made people read it to begin with and have the crew garystu a villain or have IS invade Equestria then you'll be fine. Do what you want to do with it.

Plus, the second version kind of sounds like a day trip.

Go for it!

all these people here have said what i would want to say.

I prefer a longer one but perhaps seperate it by 'books' so there are various endpoints if interest for you wains

Write what you want to write.

If you don't truly have a passion to write the plot you are making then it won't be any good.

Write what you want to write. It'll be better for you in the long run

The first one, but you should write what you want.

You should go for the long epic. Fortune favors the bold.

There's so much potential in a long story, especially if you tackle the logistics side of things and don't do what that story about Flight-17 did and practically hand wave away the issues of running something as complex as an aircraft without absolutely no technical support outside of the crew.

I would personally say long, but I like long fics.

long is my prefrence

Write it as you first intended. It will surely be your best effort and is most likely what your readers will enjoy if you enjoy writing it.

I always enjoy the longer ones, personally.

The first one. The story that you want to write.

Roll them dice!

First one, the one you want to write. Happy artists usually makes good stories.

Give us a long, wild ride.

I think it should be the longer one. It's a bigger risk, but bigger risk tends to lead to bigger rewards. Plus wouldn't want to to regret forgoing your original path on our part. plus sometimes things are worth the wait. Now if you'll pardon me I'm going to resuming eagerly awaiting, and dreading the return of Samurai Jack to TV.

Go for the long haul man go big or go home.:rainbowdetermined2:

Hell mix BOTH, a long adventure isnt a bad thing after-all

What you think an AC-130 was meant to do small flights? Where in for the Long Haul:ajsmug:

You should write the original plan you had as the main story but maybe as a side story/alternate universe have the other adventure.

I have a preference for long stories. Plus, different stories tend to be more interesting.

>>Azriel do what feels good. That is literally all I'm saying. Literally, as in the term referring to literature. Ha get it!

Don't hurt me.

Now... crazy idea here, but... what if you wrote both...?

That way you can satisfy both sets of personal curiosity, and enjoy both outcomes.

You should never give followers that much power over you. look at what happened with parts of FF15, I'm surprised it didn't suck more than it did.

Exchanging ideas is fine, great in fact; but when you start asking questions like this it makes me think you're commitment issues.

And regardless of when you asked this. When you START asking Q's like it, it quickly devolves into "realistic expectation for fantasy story VS predictability VS unpredictability". Especially with the foundation of MLP. But I would simplify the above example as "The Fandom VS Fans VS Authors".

but can we assume uv made up ur mind on the 1st?
