    Important message about Suicide

WARNING: Discussions, however brief for the sake of tact, about self-harm and suicidal thoughts are in this post. People especially vulnerable to such should ensure they are in a good headspace before reading. This sort of trigger is no joke.

    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

Moonbeam Glimmer profile - A new face for Chapter 30! · 6:28am May 6th, 2016

Artwork by the great Faith-Wolff!

Name: Moonbeam Glimmer
Full Name: Moonbeam Alissa Glimmer
Age: 27
Body Color: Light purple with darker purple patches on eyes, scar on back of left forelimb
Eye color: Turquoise blue-green
Mane/Tail Style: Middle length and very curly. Bangs and side tassels hang while back end of her mane is done up in a bun. Her tail is largely unstyled and only mildly curly.
Body Type: Average, neither athletic nor chubby
Cutie Mark: A full moon with light rays radiating down from it
Race: Pegasus
Family: Starlight Glimmer (younger sister)
Orientation: Heterosexual
Birthplace: Small settlement near the Foal Mountains (destroyed)
Residency: Hollow Shades
Occupation: Psychologist and investigator
Talent: Bringing to light what isn't known or public, being it in the physical world or one within the mind.
Behavior: Usually reserved unless she has her mind set firmly on the task at hoof. She is of a moral character, even if she is a constant professional and thorough, though this means she can be a bit cold because of it. This professionalism is fed by her high intelligence and craving to expose the truth. The pursuit of the truth is something Moonbeam is relentless in, she won't hesitate to confront who she thinks she needs to if she thinks it's for the greater good. In private, she's a completely different mare. She's someone who has plenty of her own issues she tries to keep out of her work and prying eyes. She still can be a bit prideful like her sister and is very hard pressed to admit when she’s wrong.

Fears:
-Fire
-Trusting somepony
-Talking to her parents

Likes:
-Consulting and helping a patient or someone involved in a case
-Talking to her parents
-Winning a debate

Extended Trivia:
-She and her sister became estranged from each other years ago and barely keep any contact now; even if originally in their youth they got along great.

-Has large trust issues that stem from past trauma.

-She herself suffers from a mental disorder, having a degree of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that can cause her to lock up and start crying. It was her interest in her own issues to understand them and help others with their problems that got her interested in psychology.

-By her own accord, her diagnosis is never wrong; just at times a different interpretation.

-The scar on her arm is from her very early childhood and runs across most of the back of her forelimb. She doesn't talk much about the cause though.

-The age gap between her and Starlight is comparable to the one between Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor.

I get the feeling somepony's gonna be outing the Kaiju for what they really are... then regretting doing so immediately afterward.

Was she the Bitch that talked Shit about Godzilla and the one I hold in favor to go F*** herself

And then she eyes a handsome pegasus with red shades and oddly metallic hooves.. :P

3923874 That would be the one.

I still think she's a bitch.

Why is it that in the fear section it says 'talking to parents' and in the like section it says 'talking to parents'.

Does she like her parents, but fears them? :unsuresweetie:

Okay, I got to say that I love Moonbeam's design. Her color scheme, the subtle scar, and the awesome hairstyle are testaments of Faith's artist skills. Moonbeam's personality seems interesting as she seems the intrepid reporter kind of type, though I do feel curious as to how she got her scar and whether that made her develop PTSD and have an estranged relationship with Starlight. Hope next chapter comes soon to see more about her.
BTW, how old is Starlight Glimmer along with the Mane 6?

Is that the one who spoke blasphemy of the king?!

3924133 its more common than u might think...while Moonbeam enjoys talking to her parents, there is clearly some aspect of her past that makes her fear the action at the same time, possibility that PTSD that was mentioned in the bio. her past trauma could easily of involved her parents and that feeds into her fears when ever she talks to them. so while she does enjoy the act, talking to her parents will always leave her on edge.

hmmn, speculatively, though i certainly have no evidence, it is possible that she and her parents were attacked by Changlings after the Canterlot Invasion...

3924536

I can agree with you. I was just unsure to why she likes, but fears about her parents.

Now you got me wondering to why she fears talking to her parents. That's a mystery

3924031 oh good now I can say something to her now that we're face to face,,, Go F*** Yourself you Pussy

Yeesh, everyone seems up in a twist because this new character MIGHT be the one who voiced a different, yet overtly moral, opinion on Godzilla's defense of Canterlot.

Don't get yer knickers in a twist everybloody, we don't know exactly if this is the person who voiced her opinion on the radio.

Still, this new addition to the fic might prove to be interesting, as I'm hankering for a debate on "moral" dilemmas, especially when it comes to the Kaiju and possibly killing a foe. Kind of reminds me of Kkat's "Solider Mentality and being a Hero" blog post.

So, she's kind of a loner, I take it?

3924761 i looked up the chapter...this is the character named for that particular terror mongering...

3925025

Ah, thank you for clarifying that. It's been a while since I've read that chapter again, and some names do escape me (which is a problem I have in general. :twilightblush:

Still, we shouldn't bash her just yet, despite her soapboxing just yet. Her opinion isn't really right, but....it's also not really wrong as well. I think she may though have what is confused as a "good person" between being a "hero", as KKat's blog post prove. The different between being a Good person and a Hero is that the hero is willing to do WHATEVER it takes to ensure that the rest of the world survives and that a threat is eliminated, even sacrificing it's own personal morals and the morals of society to do it. It's not a clean business, but very few conflicts are clean.

Perhaps from a psychological point of view, Moonbeam just had a wake-up call of immense power in a world where tyrants like Tirek could be banished without bloodshed, so the "grey and Gray" morality of Terran's world popping up in equestrian isn't something easy for a pony like Moonlight to stomach, much less not be afraid of. If anything, I think it's more that she's afraid of Godzilla and his power. It reminds me of the Cadmus arc of "Justice League", or what may be going on in Marvel's "Captain American: Civil War" right now. Think about it. If you have a super-powered being, that could flatten a city with minimal effort, living near you, how would most of you react to such a creature/person? Would it be admiration....or fear? Chances are, it would be heavily down the middle.

3925242 Doesn't help that one's definition of a hero can heavily differ. By his own accord, Junior sees someone like Lea, many of the GDF, and his mother as heroes; but not himself. To him, he's just another monster that fights other mothers; a monster with a purpose. To him, a hero is someone who inspires good in others, only has evil fear them, and isn't a threat to those they're trying to protect and by those on accords, he fails each of those. To him, Moonbeam points, while misguided in some clauses, is just vindication that he isn't a hero because to be a hero by his account has a bar set far too high for him to reach.

And the Cadmus example is a good point. Having power and NOT being feared is a big effort both in fiction and RL. In story, it took Celestia a good few decades to convince the ponies post-NMM "No, I am not a tyrant and don't want to hurt anypony, I'm here to help.". And Celestia is by pony accounts, a beauty queen and doesn't look threatening. Now compare that to the thirty story dinosaur with spikes, huge fangs, talons, who frequently killed gyaos by burning them to a crisp, trampling them, biting them, and stabbing them to death.

Yah, Moonbeam might be off the mark calling Junior a sociopath, but she's thinking what she's thinking for a good reason.

3925346 sadly, that reasoning lays fault on Celestia for her handling of the nation after endearing herself to the rest of Pony kind. every villain for the last thousand + years has been redeemed/banished/imprisoned instead of outright killed, now Junior shows up, knowing that the kinds of foes he fights cant be reasoned with or redeemed/banished/imprisoned and low and behold, he deals with them in the manner that he knows needs to be done but since that is against what Pony mentality has been for so long...

Applejack had the right of it, Moonbeam was terrified, and attempting to spread that terror to others so as to justify her terror. being sister to Starlight, pre redemption, cant be helping that kind of mentality. it would be logical to assume that neither Glimmer is particularly fond of the Princesses as they r as far above the rest of Ponykind as Ponies r above the Horsefly, but at least they r still Ponies and can be reasoned with. Junior? not so much...not in their way of thinking. frankly, i would like to see what happens if Moonbeam was ever to run into Goji, possibly with him being on duty and therefore in pony form, and strike up a conversation with him...where she then airs her concerns about Kaiju in general and Goji in specific. or they go to a coffee shop for the conversation and while no names r exchanged during the discussion, as Junior is getting up to leave and resume his guard patrol, Moonbeam asks and he answers, calmly slipping his helmet back on and leaving her flabbergasted in his wake.

Faithy has outdone herself once more. Looking forward to seeing how moonbeam develops over the story, especially in regards to the kaiju.

Moonbeam looks cool. I'm sensing some more mixed-parentage, with Starlight being a unicorn. I like the color scheme, and the expression on her face is full of character.

Interesting Bio. I assume we'll get to learn more about her in the next story arc. I appreciate that she departs from the normal pony motive of just going about their humble daily life, and actually strives to accomplish something. And I get the feeling that she's going to be more than just a minor player going forward, and that her traumatic backstory will be part of the next arc.

She does seem like the lonely type, which I think could go on to become a connection between herself and Godzilla, because I do think they will meet at some point.

You've mentioned in previous conversations that you hate the stereotype of Celestia being portrayed as "Tyrantlestia" and "Trollestia". I suppose with this new information of Celestia having to prove herself after the NMM incident, will such names have a more "dramatic" implications towards her in future writings of her arc, like wounds of the past?

Perhaps that something in her past involved her sister's former "Anti-Cutie Mark" obsession.

Birthplace: Small settlement near the Foal Mountains (destroyed)

Wait... is that the same settlement in the Foal Mountains that Blueberry Frost mentioned was destroyed in a dragon attack and messed up her first Captain? Well, I suppose that explains why she has such a personal grudge against Junior; though that doesn't change the fact that I still despise her AND her sister with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns.

you know i read a comment on the deviant art page for this imagehttp://lunzilla.deviantart.com/art/Interrogation-609651400 and one of the comments said that they hope that xenilla meets her in a courtroom area like big g was in and completely destroys everyone of her arguments. that is what i hope happens.
