For those who haven't noticed, Past Sins is now on Fimfiction. I apologize to all authors whose stories are going up today.
And this also marks the 1 year anniversary of when Past Sins finished. It was on August 29th of 2011, and it is now August 29th of 2012.
And for those who ask, this version has seen some changes. It's been canonized to fit with Season 2. Rarity's parents are alive and there is a "mention" of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. Still, at its core, the story is the same.
This is also the version that will be used by Equestria Publications for their Past Sins printing. So, if you want a hard cover copy of it, go sign up here.

Is the hard cover the original or the updated story?
I realy liked to read Past Sins, it was actualy the first big fanfic I read what let me to search for more.
I hope that since it was changed to fit season 2 it is even better than before.
Also I hope that since Shinning Armor is capitan of the Royal Guards, and brother of Twilight Sparkle, he will play importand role in part when Nyx will attack Castle with her sneaky tactic, and that he will have some more screentime, after all, his sister will be in Nyx dungeon, Equestria under Nyx control, there is no way Shinning Armor will do nothink.
As for stories base on Past Sins, I think that " Nightmare Night and Nyx " is the best sequel, thought it is rather short event than sequel, so place for real sequel stay open.
Ps: I plan to give Nyx a small role in my fanfic about Nightmare Moon, I m working on, hope no one will mind.

And, today marks the one year anniversary of when I read the story. Now that the final edit is here, time to re-read the best fanfic ever. At the very least from a conceptual standpoint, I don't remember the details of the writing style very well.

Weird question. As epic as this story is, why is it tagged as "slice of life?" I figured when it popped up on the feature box it would be "sad/dark."
I'd say popped up on Fimfiction but I joke that it made the feature box before it made the latest stories feed.

The issue is that Past Sins kind of falls on a middle ground. It isn't as dark as most dark fics, and it doesn't focus on sadness like most sad fics. The Normal tag it had on EQD was it's best fit, but FimFiction don't got a normal tag and you have to have some tag. And the first half of the story has a slice of life vibe.
322071 I suppose my idea of what "slice of life" means threw me off. When I think of slice of life, I imagine titles like "Octavia takes the Bus" and "Battle of Book Fort."
I remember there was a mention in the story of "Ditzy Doo" in one of the chapters...was that changed to Derpy, now that they're confirmed to be different ponies?

We still make use of the name Dizty Doo. Why? One, it's a call back to the stories Season 1 origins. Two, with Hasbro retconning the episode where Derpy was named, we can "get away" with calling her Ditzy.
And three... Well, I'll admit it, I kind of prefer the name Ditzy Doo over Derpy.

Not only TLR, but at BronyCon, someone talked with Faust and she said her original idea for "Ditzy Doo" was different from what we know as "Derpy", and she scrapped it after seeing how popular Derpy was getting.
