Special thanks to Infinion, who made these amazing graphs of the data I collected.

To start off with, here's a bar chart of the top three Rule 34 producers.

Here's the master chart of the top Rule 34 producers.

This chart represents more than five years' worth of Rule 34 data. In order to more closely examine the numbers, Infinion has broken the data into more manageable semi-annual charts.

This month I would like to talk about an upcoming Disney movie which features a cast of animals. I'm speaking, of course, about Zootopia.

Disney has made several movies in which the audience follows the story of animals interacting in a human world. Every twenty years or so, they release an animal-themed movie devoid of humans. These films tend to be well-received and act as a sort of flag ship for a new generation of furries to rally around. It happened in 1973 with Robin Hood and again in 1994 with the Lion King. If the trend continues, then 2016's Zootopia will be the new furry flaghip.

Concerns regarding explicit content based on the world of Zootopia have reached a fever pitch, to the point where petitions have been made which begged artists not to flood the Internet with Rule 34 of Zootopia. Whether or not this protest was in earnest is up for debate. What we do know is that sites such as Cartoon Brew reported on the story, where it was a hotly debated topic.

The question is whether or not this concern is warranted. Zootopia has a release date set for March 4th. As of January 10th, 2016, Zootopia has only 321 explicit images on rule34.paheal.net.

But what about the film itself? Is this another case of fans taking something sweet and innocent and corrupting it with Rule 34, or is Zootopia itself the edgy one and fans are merely taking the innuendo to the logical next step? We see in the trailer that the animals are embarassed and ashamed of the naked form. They possess a sense of modesty, which the trailer exploits for comedic effect.

There's a group of animal "naturalists" who shed their clothing and walk around in the nude. While no genitals are seen, the implication that they are immodestly dressed is impossible to miss.

So, Zootopia deals with nudity, but what about sexuality? This second trailer offers more insights into the world.

Gazelle is a celebrity which could certainly be viewed as a sex symbol. She's objectified by several characters in the film, who fantasize about dancing with her, which could be viewed as a metaphor for sex. Especially when they picture themselves with the body of one of the tiger dancers, which represents the ideal male body. She has an entourage of muscular, nearly-nude male tigers surrounding her and acting as her backup dancers. The predator / prey dynamic could also have some sexual subtext, as the gazelle is overpowered and devoured by big cats in the wild. Looking at Gazelle surrounded by muscular nearly-nude males, one half expects a porno shoot to break out at any minute.

So, nudity and sexuality are represented in the film. What about sex itself?

With the inclusion of the "three-humped camel" joke, sex, or the result of sex, reproduction, is canon within the film. After viewing the lack of visible genitals on the naturalist animals, one can't help but wonder how the camel got that "third hump" to begin with.

So, if Zootopia is willing to broach subjects like sex and nudity, is it really a surprise to see the film become a magnet for furry pornographers?

It's worth noting that some Bronies have been at odds with the Furry community for years.

Contests have been held to see which fandom has the most cring-worthy members. [Warning! Link to video contains strong language!]
Lists have been compiled highlighting the similarities between the two fandoms.

Some bronies are uncomfortable labeling themselves as furries and vica versa.

If Zootopia makes 2016 the year of the furry, then 2017 will be the year of the Brony.

Thanks again for reading another Rule 34 blog post. At the present time, I'm unable to devote as much time to research and write lengthy articles as I have in the past, due to the demands of my other work. In spite of this, I love these updates too much to stop them. So, even if it's late or lacking in content to previous entries, I'll still continue to keep tabs on Rule 34 trends as they relate to My Little Pony. Watch for the February Rule 34 update coming soon!

iam loving these, great job as always Bronystories :pinkiehappy:

I was a furry before brony. I consider both my Fandom have no malice with one another. But , no matter the fandom, I am a always dragon. I was actually a scale before I even knew what a furry was. The fandom from both had never created me as furry rather, a children's book and Dragon heart were my origins.
Now sometimes the fandom unnerved me because how people treat it like it is a godsend or that it is a right.
I love myself as a scalie, I love mlp, I don't like wearing the costumes, r34 is my best friend and I wouldn't be the person I am without it all. But I know when to far is to far.
With modern times allowing us to be more open about I am hoping that the world will one day allow us to be who we want to be without redecule. I hope that one day we can be just the fandom, not any particular fandom, just the nonhuman fandom.:pinkiehappy:

Seeing that it was Zootopia you were presenting with this update gave me the drive to read it all the way through, even if I skimmed through the MLP stuff first. I am really keen on this movie and I think you put a great perspective on everything. Praise be to you! XD :ajsmug::pinkiehappy::rainbowdetermined2::raritywink::twilightsmile::yay::eeyup::derpytongue2::coolphoto::scootangel::twistnerd::moustache:

And an unrelated question that I've wondered too long: would that be you in your avatar picture?

Great insight again, I'm looking forward to the zootopia movie, I've always been a fan of Jason Bateman since I first saw him in Hancock.
