Dear Loyal Watchers, Interested Visitors, and Confused Passersby,
It certainly seems that an annual bit of plumage has appeared on my Ravenswriter avatar once more. Yup, Ol' Crow Face has donned his Santa hat once more, and he (well, I) invite you to engage in the same!
All of these years later, I still get a chuckle out of this...
For those of you who are new to the ranks of FIMFiction, and to my pool of Watchers in general, I have something of a tradition that I participate in every year. I have asked the members of the site to place a transparent .gif/.png of a Santa hat on their avatars on the first Sunday of Advent for the last few years, and I have always enjoyed seeing the response.
In 2012, I asked for the first time. The response was more than could have imagined!
The next year, 2013, I asked again. The response was even stronger!
Last year, that being 2014, I asked again. The response was the biggest yet!
So, here we are once more, and as more LED Christmas lights buzz around my neighbor's houses, hurting my eyes something awful, I attempt once more to take refuge in that most noble of holiday traditions... that being imploring my fellow horse word enthusiasts to make it so that bright red Santa hats appear in abundance on the user avatars, forcing Knighty to once again gasp with childish glee and go "W.T.F., again?"
So, dear Watchers, wonderful visitors, and pleasant-smelling passersby, please do consider adding a Santa hat to your avatar this year. It is simply done using a transparent .gif/.png and the most basic image editing programs which come on most computers. Alrighty, that's about it! I look forward to getting a mitre-y response this year! You guys have always been so great about this, and it really does help make things a little bit more lively and festive around here. Maybe, but I don't usually put up any Christmas decorations until about a week before Christmas most years, way back in the day it was always on the last day of school before I broke up for the holiday.

Alternatively, since the hood is about the right color, you could just use the Paint spray-can tool to add some fuzz to the edge.
