You know it's actually really difficult to connect with people online... Thanks to Knighty axing the group notifications... Not that I blame him, they were getting pretty annoying at times so he did have reason.
The main way I actually make friends on fimfiction.net is to review and critique stories. But that's usually for outgoing people who are experienced writers and aren't afraid to speak their opinion... which could be a good and a bad thing. Thus, it's actually super super problematic and difficult to make friends online. But you see...

I have an idea/dream... whatever you call it
Thing is. I have a fanbase for Princess Celestia: The Changeling Queen. I like interacting with you people on the comments section of my story, but often I see these rather interesting discussions about what people expect to happen. People get to really interact with each other... because they read my story... and frankly I'd really like to get to know my fanbase a little better since you're all great people and I do like getting to know great people.
So I propose this. Let's have a discussion, because I do want some more feedback on what I have done with Princess Celestia: The Changeling Queen.... With a twist.
For the first comment every user writes, they have to introduce themself. For every 'discussion' comment one replies to, the user has to say one interesting fact about themselves, or ask the user they are replying to a friendly, non-invasive question that the other user is strongly encouraged to answer.

2. Seriously, be friendly people, this is an experiment to see if fans of a story can actually get together and have some fun.
I'll also be participating in said discussion, but I will not answer any questions related to the story's future unless they're vague enough. Sorry people, no spoilers.

Changelings play a prominent role in my story. What do you like about the changeling characters Alternia, Chrysalis, Lamia and Cyndra. What do you hate about them? And what do you expect will happen to them in the future?

Interesting fact about myself? I'm scared of bees. One flew into my ear and died there when i was in Pre-school (didn't sting me... just died there) and while I've become less scared of them, my instinctual reaction when hearing insects buzz is to cover my ears.

I've become a big fan of this story, as the author, I think, has done a very good job in keeping canon characters IC as much as possible while at the same time giving them more build to what makes them tick.

It's actually a interesting story why I decided to pursue this idea. I was originally thinking of writing a Changeling x Celestia shipfic. So I decided to run around the deviantart looking for inspiration... and then I found the cover art... the idea suddenly took a twist, I got hooked on the idea and had to write it and the rest is history.
Question: Even now I get sometimes confused whether Alternia is Alternia or Alternia is Celestia. What is your opinion on the matter?

Hello, I'm PacotheTac0 and I'm an alcoho- er... I like ponies. I'm too old to not attract attention in the pink aisle, but too young to (legally) drown myself in liquor while crying about it. I'm going to school for IT. Also, I'm totally stealing this question 2325312 from the564mumble because it applies to me. My favorite programming language is C++ and I am a huge pc gaming nerd. Lately I've been playing Dark Souls 2, Minecraft, and Planetside 2. If it's a pc game chances are I've played it or considered playing it.
As far as this particular pony prose... I suppose one of my favorite aspects of it is that the characters have real depth and personality. You may say "But Paco, that's like a basic requirement to actually have a story." Well, my reply is that YES! It is. Unfortunately 70.3% of the fics on this site don't bother fleshing their characters out to the extent that you have, so it's a nice change of pace.
If I had the chance to ask one question in the world... I would only choose one in particular. In fact, this is the only question I CAN ask. Your response to this is paramount to my continued existence. It is directed at Alternia.

2325328 Well, you could say she IS Celestia, given the fact the real Celestia has yet to return from recovering from her battle with Nightmare Moon (unless you actually did kill her off). For the past thousand years, that's all she has been, though she probably never truly knew the original bearer of the name, despite so many decades and centuries trying to fill that mantle.
As for the AU tag: It's an open world, for the most part. Canon means little to me, but I do realize there are people who would pound others over the head with Season One like it was the Holy Bible, babbling in rhymes and whatnot...but I digress...
Interesting fact about myself: I rarely, if ever, write anything down in terms of planning out my stories (it shows). I'm a lazy writer, but I like to look at what I've written in the past and learn from those mistakes. I'm getting better at it. Honest!

Interesting fact: I plan a LOT of things out, and PC:TCQ is no exception. However, did you know that Alternia and Chrysalis were (in the original plot of this story) supposed to go to war against each other and that the climatic battle at the end of Canterlot was supposed to reveal Alternia's identity. Unfortunately I axed that plot when I realized that any reconciliation between the two would be too damn hard, and I wanted that first above the action.

C++ allows you very precise control over your memory layout. However, it has a lot of complexity that, while it buys you control, costs in comprehendibility and error-proneness. Java made a trade-off giving up some expressiveness for lower cognitive load and better runtime support. Java allows less skilled programmers to have more success, which ends up being important in terms of real world / business productivity. I've written high performance, high data throughput programs in both, professionally.
A closing tidbit: I watched G1 when it originally aired, and I've programmed in Java 1.0.

I think Celestia is Alternia. Everything we know about Celestia is actually based on Alternia's personality. The only events we know of that are not actions chosen by Alternia are the brief description of Celestia's and Luna's roles and Luna's banishment in S1E1, the flashback to Luna's banishment is S4E1, and the flashback to the defeat of Discord in S4E2. All of those are short and don't provide a lot of character insight. Celestia gave Alternia a memory dump and shoes to fill one thousand years ago, but since then, it's all Alternia -- her personality and her choices on how to guide her little ponies, whether individually or as a nation and a culture. It really paints her in a very positive light.
It is interesting to consider how Alternia would have turned out if she had remained with her hive. Guiding a hive of changelings and a nation of ponies are two completely different things, with two completely different role models. The hive would have a softer edge, I'm sure, but I think Alternia would have a much more militant mind-set than she does now.

I'm going to guess near the end Alternia is ousted by the real Celestia and instead of being angry the citizenry get over it pretty quickly. Then she'd probably live with Luna since Luna has implied, or at least I got the implication, that she feels like Alternia is more her sister than her actual sister at this point.

Its based off of two things, the first, the famous violin maker stradovarius, and a group called Stratovarius, whom i enjoyed immensely at the time of making the name. What do you like about the changeling characters Alternia, Chrysalis, Lamia and Cyndra?
Hmm, Alternia comes across as a real ruler. She makes mistakes, choices, and does her best to live up to each of her subjects. Chrysalis, I guess its a mix of her nature, approach, and instincts. Cyndra, I havent seen enough to really make a call one way or another.
What do you hate about them? Celestia always strikes me as too kind, with a mix of a meddling chessmaster in so many places. It's not a bad trait, but she takes it often to an extreme. Chrysalis, being too bloodthirsty, and toxic where it could better serve her to caution, especially after being burned. Cyndra, again, is an unknown, as there isnt enough said to really go on the bad yet.
And what do you expect will happen to them in the future? I rather don't like to speculate here. Not out of a dislike or an unknown, but rather, that I hope to see how things go without getting spoilers. And how right, or wrong I was.

How do I feel about Alternia and Chrysalis as characters?
I think it's really neat that the personality we know as Celestia was actually Alternia. It makes me curious to see how you'll characterize Celestia when she does show up, how she differs and how she's similar to Alternia. As for Alternia herself, she's interesting and complex, never completely predictable and has an interesting perspective on the situation they're dealing with.
I really like how Chrysalis is a foil to her sister and that scene where she explains her sisters at the dinner table, a lot like how Alternia did, was a really cool parallel. Her war like traits and toughness are neat contrasts to Alternia's gentle ways and kindness. Yet neither one is completely good or evil, just like actual people, these characters have depth and complex reactions to what happens around them.
As for Lamia and Cyndra, I find them interesting but not as much as the other two yet. Sorry for the tl:dr. ^-^;

I've been bit bad by the pony bug. So much so that most of my creative ideas now feature ponies in some form. You may have known that since I've written a couple of things here on Fimfiction.

As to the story, I like Alternia. Chrysalis is a bit too repentant - a bit too caring - in my opinion (compared to her canon self). Lamia seems awfully upbeat and outgoing for what's happened. Cyndra? She seems about right.
Celestia? I think she's actually around. She either is content to let things go because Alternia is doing a fine job. Or she's sort of stuck on the outside because at this point Alternia is Celestia for all intents and purposes, and the real Celestia jumping back in would just hurt things.
A question for Alternia and Chrysalis with a little setup. Something big and powerful is a split second away from ripping your throat out. What would you transform into to throw down and defend yourself?
Hello, I go by Lukander (that's been my 'standard' username for about a decade now). I live in the United States of America, specifically in the Midwest. A lifelong suburbanite in an agriculture centric state. I joined the Army while technically still in High School (17-ish, split OPs training as a 19k MoS-- I was a tank driver in the Armored Cavalry) and been out of the service for years(and years) now.
Bit of a literary sci-fi nut. From Asimov, Clarke, Niven, Heinlein, to Alastair Reynolds(tip of the iceberg list wise). long time Table-top RPG and Wargame player. PC gamer, it started with Doom(1-2), Quake, Civilizations 2 and Daggerfall. Now I play Space Engineers and Dwarf Fortress-- still boot up and play the fallout games(1,2,3 and NV), and Master of Orion 2. I have a little ability and experience with LISP programming(specifically Clojure)-- I can do JAVA but prefer the LISP language I listed. Need to pick-up more in Prolog and Scala(or Haskell).
I find linguistics to be a fascinating field. I draw sometimes... Eh, also a FoE fan-- follow a number of side stories too.

Well, hello there, I go by the name ScopeEva
and Oh look! There's a bat flying around outside my window!and I get reallyreallyannoyed by user names with numbers in them which... includes most of the users here... eh, awkward.and I tend to have a short attention, Oh! Is that a hedgehog I hear sniffling out in the garden?and I generally use the name as consistently as I can on line so if you've seen the name around before it's a safe bet it was me.I much enjoy world philosophy, science, science fiction and history as subjects, though I'll admit I'm not too good with remembering specific names and dates. For activities, gaming, 3D modelling (though still highly amateur) and semi unusual sports, I resent the mundane in that area. Also done some drawing though my imaginings have been largely confined to vehicles and buildings until more recently but still pretty poor at drawing without a ruler so far. Wouldn't dare try anything without a rubber. (Or so I think, I'll let you judge my skill for your selves.)
On the story and characters? I really can't say much as there is so little I can criticize. I've loved everything I can remember off the top of my head. There is one thing though I'm particularly grateful for and that's that the Changelings actually have a culture and are technologically adept. There are just too many stories to count where they're nothing more then a band of raging mindless savages except for that one special snowflake that wants to go live with the ponies. Sure, some stories do that narrative very well but it feels way too overused these days, or at least it does to me.
As for questions? Well I do have one for Alternia. I know she's set aside any significantly malicious plans for vengeance against Celestia for roping her into her task without much choice but I can't help but wonder... what sort of embarrassing, devious and petty plans for payback does she have in mind for a near godlike figure?
Though thinking about it I'm also eager to know just what state the real Celestia is in. Obviously she can't interfere with proceedings (or can she?) but is Celestia able to view all the goings on of Equestria? I ask because you did mention that she provided a similar process to what Twilight does in cannon, to Cadence when she ascended. Does this mean she knows everything that's going on? And if so why can't she interfere by providing much needed knowledge to one or more parties?
Interesting fact about myself? Well I did win primary school dressing up competition as Neal Armstrong. All it took was a white boiler suit with a hiking back pack and old motorcycle helmet both covered in tinfoil.

Addendum: Remember Sirocco from that Make an alicorn OC thread? We need to come up with some way to use some of those characters. Hate seeing potential characters not even getting out of the starting gate.

2325349 Alternia's lived for a long time so she's learned to at least appreciate a variety of music. Surprise or no surprise, she likes certain types of pop, but also dislikes the... kiddy pop or just random pop that occassionally pops up as she likes to listen to songs that either are catchy or have meaning.
Her favorite genre of music is instrumental and relaxing. Certain classics, some modern instrumentals.
