Merry Christmas · 1:04am Dec 26th, 2023
So to start off, I wish a heartfelt and sincere Merry Christmas to everybody, or Happy Holidays for those who do not celebrate.
Of course, I know that the feeling of needing to be happy at this time is quite taxing. I see it a lot in my day job doing social work. To those, I do wish that at least your hardships be soothed for a short period of time.
There's quite a lot to not be happy about right now and I won't go too far into deep about how my year's gone because honestly, while my writing projects have gone on for a bit too long, things are honestly good and stable and I'm making progress.
So aside from saying "hey you should totally read my original book series" I'm going to recommend a few heartwarming stories that might pick you all up.
Unseen Unheard
Rainbow Dash adopts a blind and deaf Scootaloo. Rated C for the cute and H for heartwarming. It's just really nice.
Electro Swing
Finally complete, the story of Vinyl and Fancy Pants starting a relationship in the author Rego's universe is a tale of great drama, great heart and of people overcoming great difficulties. A highly worthwhile read.
Principal Celestia Hunts the Undead
Hilarious, heartwarming and just an altogether great read along with it's accompanying two books, the "Hunts the Undead" series is among the fantastic Rune Soldier Dan's best.
A Taste of the Good Life
Main Course is a successful chef and restaurant owner. Or he was, anyway, until a fire tore up his life's work and left him adrift. When he visits his sister in the rural backwater town of Ponyville, he discovers an abandoned building that's perfect for a quick fix-up so he can flip it for a profit. But the building comes with an unforeseen tenant, and when he lets her stick around he discovers that maybe, just maybe, there's something out there more important than wealth and fame.
This one's a real oldie from 2013 when we didn't know much about Scootaloo's backstory. It also features an OC character. Honestly just check it out, it really nails the concept and has a good share of heartwarming moments.
The Raptor's Tail
A journey back in time in the tradition of books such as Raptor Red and the documentary series Dinosaur Planet. 70 million years ago in what will one day become Mongolia, a successor to Velociraptor faces struggle after struggle. Times have grown cold and her eggs need constant care, and constant guard. How does a wolf sized raptor survive in the shadows of giants? How does she adapt to changing climates or circumstance? And what happens when a threat from her own past finds her new homestead?
Find out in the story, and then find out the science behind the animals and their enigmatic behaviors in the second half of this book that seeks to marry entertainment and education. This is dinosaurs as some might have never seen them before.
This isn't so much as heartwarming as just bloody well executed. Dr. Tarbtano, author of The Bridge: A Godzilla-MLP Crossover (which is also great please check it out) basically wrote an absolutely amazing story rooted in great paleontological research and yet with an ear for just immersing you in the world of the raptor "Red." I strongly recommend you all check it out. Also consider getting the paperback, there are some good illustrations in there.
That's all for now everybody. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas
A Taste of a Good Life is one of the few Scootadopt stories that earns it's heartfelt moments. I consider it an honor to get a shout out next to them.
I've seen Unseen Unheard pop up from time to time. I might give it a shot, but I usually wait until a fic is done so it doesn't go into limbo.
