It's possible to access "unpublished" stores by direct URL if you allow it, so check the story settings? Maybe they stumbled on it by going to random story ids.

This. Unpublished stories are accessible through their URLs unless they've been password-protected. It's unlikely CiG worked out the URL on his own, so someone must have given him the URL. Who have you given the URL to?

The last chapter of Siren Song was posted on May 31st. By June 28th, GaPJaxie was working on Vision again.
Assuming the drafting took place on FIMFiction.net, the ID of Daring Do lies between 107282 (last fic published on May 30th) and 113596 (last fic published on June 28th). That's only 6000 fics to look through!
Unless it's been locked. Or was started before the end of Siren Song. Or was imported late in the writing process.
