Shining Armor was having a normal day, until he got a letter from his mom. Now everything he thinks he knows about his family is turned upside down.

Leaving home for the first time can be frightening for anypony. Shining Armor is no exception. Tomorrow, he would go into training for The Royal Guard. But for tonight, he asks his mom to do him one favor- Tuck him into bed one last time before he leaves.

Farm mare. Wife. Mother. Cloudy Quartz is all of those things. One thing to be said for her was her lack of emotionality. But that doesn't mean she can't be sentimental.

Children will listen.

Cloudy had been told the phrase so long. And today, it felt as though it meant nothing to her daughter Pinkie Pie. Her daughter had gone to find life away from the farm. In the dead of night, Cloudy Quartz goes to her front porch, takes a seat, and reflects on the words she'd been told.

Flurry Heart is five months old, and it's Shining Armor's first Mother's Day since becoming a father. Now a parent himself, he finally has perspective on what his mother felt toward him. She's supported him, loved him, worked hard for him, and given him the best life she could. And for everything she is to him, and all she's done, he's going to say thank you in the best way he knows how.

Until he learns the reason why she called him. Everything he's known about his family is shattered in an instant. Luckily, his mother is there to comfort him.
