This was sweet, but I feel the need to nitpick a bit:
I can understand ignorance, but the gestation (foal-bearing) time for horses is normally around 11 months, not nine. (Give or take a couple of weeks.)

And with human pregnancies we always say nine months instead of the actual ten months, give or take a few weeks. While first time mothers don’t have as high a risk of premature delivery as mothers who have previously been pregnant, things happen. My mother was a first time mother with me and delivered three months prematurely because of family history. I thought of that family history and this is what I imagined it would be like for Velvet. Were she to have a history of preterm labor in her family, she would think the baby would come earlier.
