Since the beginning of time, every stallion in my family has been in the Equestrian Military, from Army to Navy to Royal Guard. Centuries before, the military mare was as widely accepted as the military stallion, but as time went by, it became custom for mares to be housewives and caretakers of foals.

My father, a colonel in the Equestrian Army, was a strict stallion. His old fashioned mindset quickly came to light when at fifteen I told him of my wish to join the military. For six years afterward, our relationship only consisted of fights and it didn't help matters when my eldest sister also turned against her.

When Sterling Silver is found dead in his office, I finally gets the freedom to do what she always wanted; join the Royal Guard. But as days, months and years go by, I begin to believe that my father didn't die of natural causes.

Being a mare is an adventure in itself. Being a military mare is twice so. But the thing about adventures is that though you may have a map, you don't truly know what where you're going until to get there. You will have hardships, you will have happiness. You may get hate. And you just might find love as well.

After all, All's Fair in Love and War.

Seven years after the events of New Town, New Beginnings

Love.
It makes the world go 'round. Love can be many things. Love between friends. Love between siblings. Love between parents and their children. Love between husband and wife.

The day has finally come, the day that Bolt and Sea are united in holy matrimony. It's taken seven years to get here, but throughout those years, the love between Thunder Bolt and Sea Breeze only grew more. Also during that time, Bolt became quite skilled at avoiding the jaws of his love's canine bodyguard. It seems that love between owner and pet is a powerful thing as well. These days the now silver faced Angus was a bit slower in his movements, but he still managed to get Bolt up a few trees every now and then. Chasing pegasi was always more fun than chasing cats and squirrels.

The honeymoon is a wonderful, and fun, time for the newlyweds and several weeks later, Sea and Bolt discover that a new addition will soon be joining their little family. In approximately eleven months. At first, Sea is worried. Would she be a good mother? Though she adores the foals of her friends and sister-in-law, she never felt she was the motherly type.

As time goes on, Sea opens up to the idea of becoming a mother and she and Bolt anxiously await the arrival of their foal.

The day arrives and everypony is overjoyed, especially Sea. She adores her new baby filly and looks forward to the years of raising her. But that dream soon turns into a nightmare when the family learns that the new mother won't get to see her newborn grow up.

Overcome with grief after his only love passes away, Bolt does the only thing he can think of; run.

Sand “Sandy” Dollar has grown up surrounded with love in Equestria’s friendliest town. She has the best friends a filly could ask for and a loving family, blood and honorary. Not to mention the most loyal dog to walk Equestria since her mother's very own Angus. A year later, wanting to get away from the heartache Manehatten now held for her, Moon’s mother, Starry Night, moves to her hometown of Ponyville to begin a new chapter in life with her only daughter.

No matter how much she tries, she cannot remove the horrible memory of when she learned of her husband’s death. For reasons unknown to her, she feels guilty, as if it were she who did the evil deed. Can she move on from the past? Or will it slowly consume her?

Everypony experiences it at one point or another. Sea has known what love is all her life. But she never knew what love truly is until she met Thunder Bolt. Now six months after moving to Ponyville, Sea and Bolt are as in love as two teenagers could be.

Ponyville's First Annual Music Festival is just several weeks away. Excited that there is to be a singing competition and desperate for her cutie mark, ten year old Daisy Juniper enters herself and her big sister Sea Breeze without the older mare's permission. When she finds out, Sea panics, as she does not do well in front of large crowds. After being comforted by her coltfriend, Sea agrees to accompany her little sis, but she can't help but having doubts about herself.

Meanwhile, Angus, Sea Breeze's loyal canine companion, still has ill thinking towards Thunder Bolt. Though he knows that the colt is a good one, the dog's deep rooted instinct of protecting his owner refuses to let Bolt in. After many months of being treated as if he is invisible, Angus begins to feel that Sea no longer loves him.

It's Bass Tempo and Amethyst Rose's 19th wedding anniversary. Their daughter, Sea Breeze, arranges a surprise anniversary party along with family and friends. As the festivities begin to settle down, Sea's little sister asks her parents how they met. Bass and Amethyst relive the memories of their bumpy meeting and reunion, later leading up to their marriage and birth of their eldest daughter.

Moving to a new home can be exiting and frightening. For Sea Breeze, it's usually the latter.

When her parents decide it's time for new stomping grounds, they make the choice to move to Ponyville, home of some of the most exiting, and peculiar, ponies around. Sea Breeze has always been a shy one, with new places making her nervous. But living in the lively little town soon brings her out of her shell, even if it's just a little bit. When she meets a pegasus colt around her age, she quickly builds a close friendship with him, along with his group of friends, soon becoming slightly more than just close friends with the soccer playing colt.
