If you're a butt, of course they're "plot" features. :)
Sorry, what?
The way things turned in this chapter looks really unexpected.
Still, I'm glad this fic is alive.
about the inevitable wait for the next chapter...
As happy as I am to see this story continue, for some reason I had expected a more... substantial development.
My evening light?
I do love how Sunrise Song has to get the curtsies out of her system even after Star forbade the poor thing from doing so around her.
In any case, always good to see more of this. A drama storm is brewing, and Luna, in all her anachronistic eagerness and sincerity, is unknowingly adding to the system. I just hope it won't all explode during the wedding.
Gorgeous writing, as always. This chapter feels, by the end, to have been the calm before a serious storm.
Her caring at least a little bit for Lucent's happiness is one of the very, very few merits Star has. Even so, it's true that her herd is incredibly lenient with her, that Star knows this and tramples over their feelings whenever she wants. They might be caught up in nostalgia, for Star doesn't deserve her exalted position now, if she ever did in the first place.
And her animus towards Luna just might be because she realises Luna isn't one to be pushed around.
Lastly, I hope Star is aware her children are great in spite of her; unlike Crincile, who will never have the chance, Star messed up with her own children, and she should never forget that.
I do so love this story.
Ah man, you have no idea how happy i am to see this continue, or maybe you are since i nag you every once in a blue moon on your tumblr. Sorry about that i guess. Anyways, as far this chapter goes, its always nice to see Star not completely mucking up her life. The opposite is what i read for, but this is appreciated too. I'm also eager to see if shes going to do something to fuck up massively at, near, or after the wedding.
My favorite part of the chapter is definitely the Drawing Room scene. Seeing how herd politics was handled was such a treat, honestly, and not just because of how it played out, but because of the players involved. I really want to see a little bit with Crystal and Star afterwards that expands on what Crystal was feeling, seeing as she seemed to just go along with Scintilla for the most part. Not that she didnt choose to, mind, but it came across crystal clear im not sorry that she had her reservations, or possibly fear of the move they made. Seems Lucents herd is just chock full of cunts, with Crystal and Scintilla rounding out with Star, of course. Im kinda surprised Crincile (which i still have no idea how to pronouce, help) isnt a shitter too, but i guess being around Twilight and to a point, Star, helped with that.
Nice to see this updated. I've nearly forgotten everything about it other than a few points.

I wonder if it has less to do with their leniency and more to do with the fact that Star is a self-made mare who has a more aggressive 'high-horse' mentality compared to the other mares in the herd.
Would it be wrong to say that everyone ,other than Star (& possibly Twilight Velvet) came from some form of wealth?
Her past mentality comes across as 'I may be a nobody, but I'm still lead mare of this herd, and what I say still goes'.
Now, I haven't read this story yet, but you didn't do what Kkat did and call Twilight Sparkle's mother Star Sparkle, right?

Pretty sure Twilight's mom was named Star Sparkle by the fandom before the show/merch named Twilight Velvet. Gotta remember FO:E was written before the end of Season 2 and, I think the fandom itself was just getting big around that time too. So a lot of what's established now, wasn't back then.
I haven’t read this story since 2013 but recently stumbled upon it again (after rereading Xenophilia and seeing you were the author of “The Weak Lyre”) and was delighted to see there were many new chapters. I started over from the beginning and blew through the whole thing in 3 days and wow, what a story. My compliments to the author. You’re an incredible writer Archonix and I’m desperately hoping you’ll finish it. I, for one, will be devastated if we don’t get a resolution.

You and me both. I do have something in the works, but I've given up making any promises because I always end up breaking them.
And thank you for the kind words.
