Nice use of the before day montage though.
I like stories that enter the verse having a unique circumstance. This is the only fic I'm aware of that has the main character transforming while awake, instead of waking up with a distinct lack of fingers. I think the Doctor Whooves fic technically does this as well, but it involves a toaster, a spatula, and the protagonist going unconscious before his transformation.
