The idea from my mythology is that the alien traveled through space for millions or perhaps billions of years and because of this vast amount of time in stasis its mind was broken by entropy and through sheer instinct looked for an intelligent host to help fill the gaps in its broken mind. It found the pony Amber and traits from both minds combined to create Thingpone.

Reading again, I realize that Zecora was shivering because she was 'lucky' to be spared, while thinking that Amber wasn't. Way to slide that little detail in there, great read. It's not too obvious the first time until she outright asks, and i think that works just fine.

Yeah, there were multiple reasons why she was shaking. She almost died not too long ago and had a traumatic experience. Amber might have healed her body but not her mind. Also, she is slightly horrified at Amber's abilities, her predatory and somewhat monstrous nature and perhaps to a lesser extent her somewhat flippant personality. She's scared and basically helpless.

Congratulations, Zecora, you're a pet!
Amber may have repaired and replaced organs, but she likely forgot to flush out the adrenaline and other chemical soup a terrified animal would contain,or at least didn't insert anything to counteract the continued fear response her form inspires.

When I get back to this story I think I might change up the last paragraph so that Amber's spider butt opens up like a flesh flower and then engulfs Zecora with an umbilical cord tentacle to give her oxygen while she's carried home and then in the next chapter Zecora wakes up in her bed none the wiser to Amber's fleshy encasement. Kind of adds to the creep factor with Amber not really understanding things like personal space and lacking empathy.
