Based on both your long and short story descriptions, you should look into the difference between "there" and "their".
What is with the flood of stories going off Ending? Seriously, there's been several million AUs, alternate endings, and whatever this is, recently.
None apparently with the original author's blessing, since they've been gone since 2017.

Ha, sounds like an episode of the SCP Foundation, unknown portal, anomalous creature, signs of magical fluctuations. All that's missing is the phrase: "In the end, all the witnesses were treated with class B amnesiacs".
As for the story itself: it's not bad overall, but it starts too abruptly, making it feel like someone ripped out a piece at the beginning and the end, so lacking more description of who and how Trixie saw and how she reacted to it. I mean, it would have been cool if she had wandered among the people for a bit first and then what happened in the story happened afterwards. Also lacking in descriptions, everything happens very quickly and crumpled up.
Bottom line: not a bad story, but the author has room to grow, so I give you a plus sign for a nice try.

Kinda weird since, if you look at Ending's page, there are no other stories set in this universe. Only in the Also Liked tab do they pop up.

I'm not sure why that is maybe it's because of how old ending is? Either way though the ending au makes people want to try writing out I've always been a fan of dark stories and this universe stood out to me. And made me want to see more of it so I decided to take a crack at it from a new perspective
