The Kelduo

I'm your friendly neighborhood hero who adventures alongside his Pokemon partner Keldeo. Alone, we are strong. But together, we are the Kelduo!

E

While this story isn't marked as a sequel, it will be a sequel to an upcoming story of mine, so there will be a few surprises. However, I highly recommend reading Kirby Star Allies: Friend Hearts Are Magic (REMASTERED) before reading this, because this story takes place in the Friend Hearts Are Magic universe, a few years after the events of that story. Also, there are some key moments in that story that are mentioned here, so you should read it if you want to understand some parts of this story better.

After investigating a mysterious storm growing over the normally peaceful planet Pop Star, Kirby washes up on the shore of an unknown land.

A land where the cute round residents of Pop Star known as Waddle Dees are being kidnapped and held hostage by a feral group of fiends. In order to save them all, Kirby must work together with his friends Bandana Waddle Dee, a heroic member of the GM–series robots, a new friendly face...

And a joyful, creative unicorn who will stop at nothing to awaken Kirby's passion for the new generation.

Let the journey to save Waddle Dees and discover the new generation begin!

So, I've just gotten started reading this new story, and I have to say...

Well, the writing is great as always, but uh... holy heckadoodles, that scene with the pictures was DARK! I was expecting you to acknowledge the end of G4, given how much of a deal it was made in Helix and Hooves, but I honestly expected for Izzy to get involved via time travel shenanigans.

But I would never be able to see them in person again. They were taken away from me by natural causes. Nothing will be able to replace them...

I would like to preface that the following paragraph isn't meant as a criticism, it's just me commenting on the surprising implications of this comment. Also, please note that I haven't read the other two chapters yet, so if this is explained in a later chapter... well then, that's on me. :derpyderp1:

So basically, the main MLP cast is dead at this point. Honestly not that surprising, given the G5 movie implies that they are deceased, or at the very least missing. The main shocking part of this, though, is how long it's implies the time skip between this story and Helix and Hooves really is. While it's never explicitly stated, the G5 movie is implied to take place centuries after G4 ended. While I'm not at all surprised that Kirby can live for thousands of years, that's still a really long time skip!

Alternatively, it could also imply that, one a series somebody comes from ends, they die. While this does make the time skip between this story and Helix and Hooves much less shocking, it also has some pretty morbid implications.

For now, however... until I get confirmation of something in a later chapter, I'm going to assume there's some kind of time difference between Kirby and My Little Pony. Like, for instance, four years on Planet Popstar translates to four thousand years on Equus.

Once again, I will like to state this comment is not intended as a criticism, just me speculating about the implications of things mentioned in this chapter. I also haven't read the later chapters yet, so if this actually explained... feel free to smack me.

The story barely starts and there's already a Undertale reference. I love it! :rainbowlaugh:

And I intend to do that in a later chapter.

:pinkiegasp:Wait, what?! Man, I had no idea... mostly because I haven't watched the movie.

Yep, a time difference is what I'm going for. It's kinda the only excuse I could find to put a G5 character in the story.:twilightsheepish:

11191241
Well, that's how all modern Kirby games start, with a beautiful day outside. How could I not make the reference?

11191258

And I intend to do that in a later chapter.

I think I phrased that poorly. When I said "I expected you to acknowledge the end of G4," what I meant is that I thought you had already acknowledged the end of G4 in the story with Kirby's picture scene, but I wasn't expecting the story to actually take place after the Mane 6 had died. Like I said, when I saw the story involved G5 and Izzy Moonbow, I honestly assumed that Izzy would have gotten involved via time travel shenanigans, as Helix and Hooves already established that time travel exists.

Granted, I don't consider this route you took with the story to be bad. I just have to admit, the way this story played out kind of caught me off guard...:twilightsheepish:

:pinkiegasp:Wait, what?! Man, I had no idea... mostly because I haven't watched the movie.

Huh, you didn't know that? I don't want to come off as rude, but that's a bit surprising, as I remember that being one of the main things people were talking about when the movie first came out.

Also, you haven't watched the movie yet? That's a bit surprising, but does also explain some things I found weird about the story. Speaking of which, I don't want to come off as pushy or rude, but you should probably watch the movie, or at the very least read a summary of it. Not only is it just a good movie, but also... well I don't how to say this in a way that isn't brutally honest, so please forgive me when I say that it isn't a good idea to write fanfic of things you haven't even read a summary of. Even if you don't have Netflix, someone has probably uploaded the movie on Youtube or something already.

OH MY POYO, I AM SOOOOOOO SORRY!!!

I SOMEHOW COMPLETELY MISSED THIS CHAPTER!!! IT GOT LOST IN MY NOTIFICATIONS!!! I'M SORRY FOR NOT COMMENTING!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FORGIVE MEH!!!:twilightoops::applecry::applecry::applecry:

Sorries out of the way, this chapter was good like most of your stories, although not much happened in it~:heart::heart: I wonder if we will have some kind of alternate dimension adventure soon...

11371056
Don't worry, the next chapter is gonna be pretty fun. Why's that? Well... If you've played Forgotten Land, you know what the next stage has to offer.:trollestia:

Oh, and there'll also be a certain someone you might recognize if you've played Star Allies and stuck around the Jambastion for a while...

Hey, sorry I didn't comment after this chapter uploaded:twilightsheepish: in fear of sounding rude, there was simply not much to comment on. However, I will try and make some comments. It's interesting that Shadow Kirby appeared:pinkiegasp: I hope there will be more surprise cameoes here! The Ranger transformation sequence was also very good, I liked how goofy it was~:heart::heart:

11489821
Wait, scratch that last bit, I just remembered Shadow Kirby appeared last chapter. Sorry, that maybe wasn't as surprising as I thought it. I forgot about his cameo last chapter do to it being pretty long since the last update:twilightsheepish:

It's okay, I understand. But just you wait. The chapters should become more interesting once we get to the first boss level, where Waddle Dees will finally have a good purpose other than just providing amenities at the Waddle Dee Town!:yay:

Wait, scratch that last bit, I just remembered Shadow Kirby appeared last chapter.

Well, he didn't actually appear last chapter. I just foreshadowed his appearance in this chapter through Kirby's phone call.:twilightsheepish:

I hope there will be more surprise cameos here!

Who knows? Maybe there will...:trollestia:

The Ranger transformation sequence was also very good, I liked how goofy it was~:heart::heart:

There'll be more goofy transformation sequences, I can assure you that. Be on the lookout for Toy Hammer, Pencil Drill, and Clutter Needle, just to name a few!

Sorry for not commenting on this! It got buried in my notifications and I didn't see it until just now. Anyway, this is once again a chapter I don't have much commentary on, sorry about that:ajsleepy: but it is well-written as usual~:heart::heart:

And I wasn't sure if this was clear for the readers, so let me clarify something. After being found by our heroes, Waddle Dees almost always return to Waddle Dee Town by one of two ways: riding the Warp Star, or being inhaled by Kirby and sent there via his stomach dimension. For a high-flying ride back and a nice view on the way, they'll take the Warp Star. Most of the time, they'll use the Warp Star, but if they need to get outta where they are in a hurry, Kirby will swallow them to get them to town in a snap.

Huh, that's an interesting method of transportation:rainbowhuh: On one hand that is a lot less horrifying then assuming the enemies Kirby inhales die, on the other hand the worst parts of my brain sort of want to (spoiler-tagged do to being somewhat gross) make a vore joke here.

Actually, I took inspiration from Lucar's story A Sweetie Dreamland, where people Kirby inhales and swallows just appear elsewhere for some reason, and there's also official Kirby media such as Squeak Squad and the anime that depicts his stomach as an entire dimension, so anything he inhales doesn't just die and instead floats around in his stomach dimension. Additionally, if you'll remember in the Through The Tunnel chapter of this story, it's mentioned that Kirby can transport anything he inhales from his stomach dimension back into the world whenever he wants, hence how he sent the Gotcha Capsule back to Waddle Dee Town. That's my headcanon about Kirby, and it also explains Lucar's headcanon. You really oughta check his story out.

Hello, sorry for not commenting on this earlier:ajsleepy: It turns out I forgot to track this story, so I wasn't getting notified when it updated, and I kept forgetting to check myself:twilightblush: Anyway, here are some of my thoughts.

The boss fight with Gorimondo was super fun:raritystarry: I think it's cute that Izzy and the others respect him enough to let him use his special attack~:heart::heart::heart: I was surprised at the lack of any "Kirby, get the banana!" jokes.

The Team Fortress 2 Waddle Dees were a bit weird, but I found them fun regardless. The weapons upgrading scene was also pretty interesting. I like how you've been giving the minor characters fleshed out personalities, and Kirby remembering the first time he used Copy Abilities was interesting~:heart::heart::heart:

The stuff with Shadow Kirby was interesting as well! The reference to Minecraft was also interesting, I mean I guess it's not really that surprising since Steve's in Smash and Smash is canon to this story, but it's still interesting to see.

Also the joke at the end of the chapter made me laugh WAY harder then it should have:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh: Barry is best Bronto Burt~:heart:

Well then, you better go ahead and track it now! The next chapter will be in development eventually, but I'm getting ready to move in a couple months, so it'll be awhile before you see it.:twilightsheepish:

I was surprised at the lack of any "Kirby, get the banana!" jokes.

Well, I did reference that in the Rocky Rollin’ Road chapter when Gim gave Shadow Kirby the banana while saying "Potassium".:trixieshiftright:

I know they were weird, I was just trying to find ways to make the Waddle Dee missions for boss levels plausible. And I wanted the elite Waddle Dees to have some distinction over others, so I went with the idea of Dedede dressing them up in costumes from a video game. While I was tempted to give them the outfits from the Rescue Squads from Paper Mario: Color Splash, I wanted each individual to have its own specialty since that'd mean more versatility to adapt to various situations; therefore, I went with TF2 costumes instead.

Don't worry, though. Not all of the Fort Dees will have TF2–inspired outfits; I've got other plans for the Pyro–, the Demo–, and the Heavy–class Waddle Dees.:trollestia:

Thanks! I wanted to show the continuity between games every so often, so I just had to reference the first chance Kirby could get an Ability back in Kirby's Adventure.

I'll be honest, I forgot that happened:twilightblush::twilightblush: I know, I'm no longer a true Kelduo fan:ajsleepy::ajsleepy: In my defense it's been several months and I haven't reread that chapter since it was posted.

And it was for the better~:heart::heart:

That part about localization turning rice balls into jelly donuts... I was the same as that Waddle Dee when I was young. :facehoof: Seriously, localization did some really stupid stuff.

11831894
Well, at least those dumb localizations made for some funny memes.

11507537
My headcanon is also based on what happens in Super Star Ultra. I mean, in Revenge of the King, we can inhale Bandana Dee, and yet, we find him a few rooms later on the stands encouraging Dedede.

Also, your first link is dead.

I like all these explanations for Kirby's powers.

11832680
Thanks! I wanted to flesh out the reason how Kirby discovered the Copy Ability beyond just "he's older so he can copy stuff", so I come up with a bit of an origin story for it.

The next chapter will take quite a while to finish. I just moved, and I've got other things to take care of as well.

11832718
That's no problem. We can wait.
