This is my first Sparity (Spike x Rarity) story, and I will warn you that this fic is a sad heartbreaking story. This story idea just popped in my head, so I'm writing it. Also, I am sorry if my story is short and that my English is bad, but I already used Google Translate, Grammarly, and Grammar Check to check for any errors, and they should be already be fixed.

It was just another day in the kingdom of Equestria as it was sunny, bright, although it was blooming as spring had arrived, and with it came to a plethora of flowers. The clouds were floating high in the sky as the sun's rays were shining upon the land of Equestria a beautiful and prosperous land blessed with deep forests, tall mountains, vast lakes, a barren desert, great cities, and villages. The many colorful plants had excited many, mostly children, but few of them weren't interested in the flowers, but they found the joy of the warm and comfortable weather.

Some ponies were outside of their homes working hard while some of them were shopping as Equestria was at peace once more after two years have passed after the defeat of Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow. Equestria was once more in a golden age of peace or perhaps true, everlasting peace, and currently, inside of one of the rooms of the Castle of Friendship, a purple dragon under the name Spike was standing in front of the mirror examining his reflection while fixing his tie as he was wearing a tuxedo, getting ready to see Rarity. He long ceased to be a little dragon as he had grown over the years as his barbs were no longer around, his voice has changed, he had grown to be a little taller than a normal pony, and he had built a lot more visible body strength.

Spike has feelings for Rarity ever since he moved to Ponyville, he loved her and he tried to show it in any way possible, but she didn't give any signs that she liked him, but he still wasn't sure if it would be a yes or a no, so he did not lose hope of making her fall in love with him one day. When all other guys started to ask her out, he couldn't just stand there, letting the beautiful, talented, and most of all caring and loving mare of his dreams get away from him. So he knew, without hesitation, that he should ask her to be his girlfriend today before someone else take her away.

"I am doing it right?" Spike nervously asked himself as he was fixing his tie, "I've never done this stuff before... I'm so scared!" He nervously said to himself, "What if I mess up this chance! What if she rejected me and all this time she never likes me?!" He said as he continues talking to himself, "And then she will get uncomfortable and she doesn't want to see me forever and never befriend with me!" He said before he stopped fixing his tie and then he took a deep breath and smiled, "Nah! I know she likes me and we will be together happily ever after." He said smiling at himself in front of the mirror before he gave himself a nod as he was feeling ready for this.

After a minute, Spike picked a flower-bouquet before he walked out of the room to the exit of the castle. He exits the castle and immediately set off to the Carousel Boutique while he was very happy imagining what he would do with Rarity. Once he arrived at Carousel Boutique, Spike stood in front of the door and he then took a deep breath before he hides the flowers behind his back, and then decides to knock on the door, he waited anxiously for Rarity with the flowers behind his back. After a few moments, the door opened, and the white mare Rarity comes out with a smile on her face as she looked at Spike, and Spike smiled back at her as he blushed.

"Oh hello there, spikey-wikey!" Rarity said as she was smiling at Spike, "What brings you here?"

'I'm so nervous she's too beautiful!' Spike thought as he was nervous, "H-Hey, Rarity..." He said still blushing and nervous, "Flowers for you." He said as he drew his arm out from behind him and presenting her with a lovely bouquet of flowers.

Rarity gasped and smiled for a moment in surprise as she hadn't been expecting Spike to bring her beautiful flowers. She was shocked at both the sweet gesture and the fact that Spike took his sweet time to buy her or collect flowers for her, she uses her Unicorn magic to take the bouquet from him. Rarity sniffs the flowers before she looked at Spike who was still blushing, and then out of impulse, she pecked his cheek causing him to blushes even more.

"Thank you, spikey-wikey." Rarity happily said before she sniffs the flowers again.

Spike froze and his own blush grew on his cheeks, "It was my pleasure..." He said softly as he smiled at her, "But, I also I've something to tell you, and it's really important." He said with more confidence in his voice but still nervous and he was still blushing with a smile on his face.

"Alright..." Rarity said as she looked at Spike still giving him a smile, "Please tell me."

"Rarity... All this time I've always like you!" Spike said with a smile on his face and with great confidence in his voice as he was still blushing.

"E-Eh... What do you say just now?" Rarity asked as she was confused and blushing.

"That! I like you, I have a crush on you, I have feelings for you! I fall in love with you! I want to protect you! I want to stay by your side forever!" Spike shouts as he moved close to Rarity with a blushing face, "I want to spend time with you! I want you to be mine! I want us to be happy! I want you to be my girlfriend! I want you to be my future wife!" He loudly said as Rarity was in shocked and blushing before he took a deep breath and calm himself for a second, "Rarity... Will you be my girlfriend and my future wife?" He said with a soft smile on his face as he took one of her hoofs.

"Spike! I seriously don't know what to say!" Rarity who was still in shock said as she was softly blushing, "Why would you like a pony like me?"

"You're the one that I only have feelings for, and there's no pony else besides you." Spike said as he cupped her face and was also caressed her cheeks while he was smirking at her, "I really want to spend the rest of my life with you to be your husband one day."

Spike then lean his face closer to her and he kissed her softly but passionately, and Rarity's eyes opened wide. The white unicorn mare was softly blushing but she hated to admit to herself that she felt uncomfortable about all of this. Rarity adored Spike with all her heart, but the idea of being her girlfriend and future wife seemed weird for her, so this put her in an awkward spot, and at the same time she didn't want to hurt his feelings. But she had to be firm with her answer, so Rarity slowly pushed herself away from the kiss, and Spike looked at her as he believed that they only moved away for a few second, so he tried to kiss her again, but white mare pushed him away as he approached again which left him with a marked gesture of bewilderment.

"Why did you keep me away?" Spike asked as he was confused over Rarity's action.

"I don't want you to do this." Rarity said in an almost authoritative tone of voice.

A bitter gulp of saliva slid down Spike's throat as unease compressing his, "B-But... Why!?" He asked as he was confused and a little hurt.

Rarity took a deep breath and took a step back away from Spike who was still confused about her action, "Spike first of all..." She started as she was offering the dragon a sympathetic smile, "I'm really flattered that you really like me a lot, and I know it can be really nerve-wracking to say all that." She said as she still was giving him a sympathetic smile, "And you're a very nice dragon, but I only like you as a friend and nothing more." She said and Spike felt his heart sink into his stomach over her words, "So, I-I'm sorry, Spike, but I don't feel the same way."

"Is it because you are somewhat older than me?" Spike softly asked as he was still visibly disheartened and heartbroken, "Or is it because we are from two different species?"

"I-I'm sorry... I can't..." Rarity said as she was still giving Spike a sympathetic smile, "And you see, I'm already dating Thunderlane for ten years now." She said and Spike's heart sunken ever more after hearing she was dating someone else for ten years without telling to anyone, "So my heart already belongs to somepony else, but! I'm sure there's somepony out there for you!" She said as she was still giving Spike a sympathetic smile, "I'm just not that pony. You will find them though, okay?"

"Oh..." The dragon sighed as he was visibly disheartened and heartbroken as he looked at Rarity who was still offering him a sympathetic smile as hurt can be seen on her eyes, "Thank you for your honesty..."

Saddened but understanding, the dragon quietly left as he had his head down feeling like he has suffered a heavy defeat. Meanwhile, Rarity who was watching Spike leaving has her eyes brimming with tears, so she enters her Carousel Boutique and made her way to her room where she placed the flowers on the top of her drawer. Rarity then sighed as tears began to come out from her eyes, so she squeezed her eyes tight shut before she opened them, and then she uses her magic to pick up a photo of her and Spike.

"I'm sorry, Spike... I love you and all, but not that way..." Rarity softly said as she still has tears on her eyes, "You will always be on my heart..." She softly said, "I just hope that your new special somepony knows how to value you." She softly said still with tears on her eyes as she was smiling at the photo.
