They've found something. Twilight thinks it's a brain of some sort- so they tackle the problem of waking it up, of talking to it. What did its kind look like? What happened to it?
Only problem is, when it turns out to have a ferocious appetite for lightning, she can't keep up. Then, of course, it's also the first time Twilight has ever tried talking to a brain without the head it was installed in- so they can't talk, only see, really. But what images does this strange mind produce? What do they mean?
And more importantly, how can she introduce it to society- as a friend?

Interesting start. I wonder now how the Brain (I assume, given the description, that it's the Personality Center or Survival Center for a Bolo) managed to figure out how to use the display to show an image of the missing object?
With that being the only piece there, how does it teach them to build it a power source...?
And does this AU have the hydroelectric dam?
(I forget what it was for in that story, but there's a 50/50 chance it was the Weather Factory, since the Pegasi have to power it somehow)

Clearly its inteligent enough to learn pretty darned fast, its about the size of a torso but had to have come from something bigger...Hmm...Why not a seedship? The remains of one anyways. (Seedship : Ship containing advanced AI and scanning equipment along with scientific and cultural data from humanity, carrys 300 cryo frozen humans) We can assume its human cargo has perished (or not if you intend to introduce humans) however its AI core survived its crash somewhat intact (the crash and damages can be explained by old age from traveling the cosmos?) Well... you're not far off. What it actually is is the personality core of a Bolo (giant, self-aware supertanks, if you weren't already aware)... and no, no humans survived with it. (Though, this must be a very *large* one, for the personality core to be fifteen meters across... that's the full height of some Bolos)
The issue is thinking of something to *happen*.

Oh drat! I miss read 15 meters as 15 INCHES, ALSO YES BOLO's I love those things! Also I'm pretty sure some Bolos go up to 40 meters? However thats aside the point, this Bolo is clearly a BIG one. So lets assume its a prototype or something, I would need to know the condition of its hull to get any better ideas, but at this point from what I can tell equestrians would struggle to power it so some of its hull needs to survive if not its going to be very difficult to power and maintain...hmm maybe it shall take the role of a advisor or something? Equestria is hit with a plague inc esq scenario and it helps them to survive? Or maybe if enough of its hull survived it could be patched back into its hull, but for what purpose I have no clue. Sorry if the ideas suck

And honestly, that's actually a pretty good idea. As per hull that survived, prettymuch none of it did- just the Survival Center, really. It is worth note that the particular item it has asked for, while unnamed in the story... is DCC, the heart of its self-repair capability.

Hmm... Yeah, maybe. Given that DCC capability, the Bolo could theoretically restore itself to full operability- but that'd take forever... so in the face of an imminent threat, he'd probably do something quick- firearms, (solar) recon drones, and so on.

It should be enough for a short story however for a longer one more details/prompts would be better for a deeper plot and longer length? I think? I've never really tried writing
Edit: New idea for you! Younger Celestia and Luna find the Bolo and befriend it, it provides them with simple council and advice during the period before NMM. During the shifting of the lands from Discord it is burried deep and forgotten. Time skip a thousand years later, while preparing for NMM's return Celestia finds some of her old writing about the Bolo, and gives Twilight the mission to uncover it, however due to memory and text degredation Celestia has forgotten what the bolo is and how it works. Twilight uncovers the Bolo leading to chapter 1. This could result in very intresting relations between the princesses and the bolo (if any occur) and would sorta explain why it was found. The bolo's memory has also degraded however it remebers being a advisor at one point and does that along with some basic assistance should we go through with the rebel scenario. Also a idea for the Bolo's name? Shakespear. So sorry for the spam
