Sing for Absolution: Part I, Good bye sweet home

I lay listening to the clock tick each second go by felt like a lifetime to me knowing my last few hours on this planet I have called home drift's away like sand between my fingertips. I sigh waiting for the sound of the missiles that are defending against the glacier that is approaching our city fast. "Why did they go to war all those years ago" I mutter to myself thinking we could all still be living in Equestria if it wasn't for the arrogance of a certain group of draconequus and traitor unicorns that left a scar on our last world. I was born and raised here on Andromedae as were my parents and theirs. They said we were lucky to survive the war and be taken here for refuge, but I think it was all a cover-up for what lies ahead for me and my crew members to witness firsthand what is left of Equestria and more importantly will we succeed in re-populating this planet? I close my eyes to think about the day ahead of me also thinking about what will happen to the place I have called home...

"Huh?! Oh just my alarm." I peered over to it to see the time 5:00AM and lay back in bed for a few minutes to think about my day and what I must save ... Ponykind. I reach for the remote located on my right nightstand and turn the TV on, flicking to the news channel to see what going on with the situation at hand.

The reported read:

"Gooood morning the remaining population of Andromedae, I am please to inform you that the OESC (Old Equestrian Space Core) is launching its new space program to populate our old planet Equestria. The team of 3 ponies will embark on a mission taking several days using the latest technology devised by the AIT (Andromedae Institute of Technology). From sources we have gather that 100 volunteers have be cryogenicaly frozen and sent into space. Could that have been the launch we witnessed just 3 weeks ago? Anyhow we have James on the site of the laun-"

I turn the TV of in a spout of anger. They all think we are the saviours of the race we have evolved few over the course of history. I would also like to think that, but I just don't think I could lie to myself from what we had been told. I must try not just for me, but for everyone I hold close to me.

"Come on Spirit let's get a shower and relax before heading off to work" I mutter informatively to myself calming my anger as I do. I trot over to the bathroom and the door opens for me as usual I grab a towel hang it up on one of the hooks beside the shower entrance and take a step inside feeling the cold that took over my body. "I think it's a hot shower today." I place my hoof on the wall and an interface opens. Selecting the shower mode and temperature as I do; 37 Degrees and soothing mode. As I hit the start button the water begins to fall onto me running down my body. Each droplet of water hitting my body felt sensational. I cherish each drop because well. It maybe my last, but on the contrary at least I get to experience 0G again. I do enjoy it quite a lot feeling weightless and free from physics. I mulled in the moment putting two hoof's onto the wall and letting my head drop between them and I slow my breathing. I remained for a few more minutes until turning the shower off and stepping out to dry myself.

After walking around my apartment, and looking at all my rooms for possibly the last time I grab my coat and lock the room behind me. I was quite privileged to live in one of the few Arcology's in the world that remain, but hey I enjoyed it while I stayed here. "Goodbye sweet home"

Pressing the button the elevator I hit the button for the ground floor and in an instant it begins taking me down. As I do I can see what remains of our city. We had already lost the eastern district just a few months ago. It's a shame we settled here not knowing that an ice age was imminent, but that the beauty of karma I guess. "Think you can flee to another planet because you harmed your own? Pfft" all a bunch of idiots they were. Don't even know why they went to war originally

The elevator landed at the floor of the building and I walked across the lobby which was completely empty. I guess now that people only have a few weeks left on this planet before the glaciers crush everything and approach us everyone wants to spend time with their families and keep them close. They say that the Fusion Power station is next to go, which is a serious problem because without them we can defend against the glaciers. I push the doors and enter the outside world...
