I'm not surprised that they got schooled. The Elements might be powerful but the girls were never actually trained to fight and Dush has more or less his entire of training and fighting experience under his belt.
Ahh, the couple that I wanted to see the most might happen, Fluttershy and Arctic. Awesomely awesome cause.
Good way to start training them, though to get a bit more than running would be good to, all around strength is better. Good chapter though.

dam really wished he did something more like "rule 2 survie" ya know and give them a few brusies for what is to come
4427294 Yeah, I get that he is being a jerk on purpose... But I mean stuff like harping on how he's better than them and younger. Or when he's talking about how tough his training is going to be, he doesn't just give an example, he has to one up characters he's never met. And, given his history of thinking the elements are lame... It doesn't come off as a necessary means to toughen them up and harden their skin it comes of as him having to keep proving that he's better than they are. Bragging, in other words.
And I like him less for that. I see it as him trying to be that tough and mysterious martial arts master giving bizzare tasks and treating his students like dirt, but being too immature to not make it also about how great he is. It feels a lot like, after he wasn't chastised at all for being mean before, he decided it meant that he had free reign to be as big of a jerk as he could if he could justify that they'd be tougher after it. At least he gets chastised for THAT at the end.
Oh, and I would still be interested in Twilight beating his magic guitar attack, seems like the sort of thing she'd be able to figure out and beat, given some time. That was more along the actual lines of bizzare martial arts training.

You haven't figured it yet have you? Dusk is screwing around with, not to make himself seem tougher, but just to show a difference in the way they were brought up.
Like, in the first few chapters Dusk his his pack showed up in, he had said for the jump that he had been trained since near birth. The elements have only been together for a few years. I don't know about you, but there is a HUGE gab between them.
very good
