BoxedSurprise

T

A compilation by Neighsworth and Coltridge, all pertaining to the legend of the human, Barrett Attaway, in the world of ink and paint.

[Type ex. Poem, Story, Song, etc.] Title of Work - Author's Initials (NW for Neighsworth and CR for Coltridge)

Ex.

[Poem] I am Man - NW

"The world is less without us" Neighsworth (a fellow Brony) once said. Barrett believed, "The world is too much with them". Barrett, a working man in his prime with a B.A. in Liberal Arts, he was absolutely...ordinary. So was once the world of cartoons; unbound by logic and lost cities of culture, and now to him were doodles for children.

Until...he woke up.

Chapters are individual works EDIT: This is apparently a violation of rules, so I'll only put everything in relation to the main story "Barrett of Equestria". The collection form that I originally intended will be released elsewhere when I finish all of the works, which will be uploaded here as their own stories individually if they meet the 1,000 word requirement.

Note: William Neighsworth and Sam Tyler Coltridge are name plays on real life poets and both names represent a series by a fictional author (i.e. I wrote this but under a different name).

this does not actually rhyme... :rainbowhuh:

this is just ''a long haiku with some fancy words''

a true poem - in my opinion - must have harmony in it and sound like music.
this doesn't.

334462 Not all poems rhyme, nor do they have to. Most of the poems in the collection will be either blank verse or free verse. The only one in here, is free verse.

and even then: where the heck was it all about? Some man called Barett that was a brony and was determined he was a man but the elements of harmony kicked him out of his dream or something?

negative vote for:
-being unclear
-lack of rhyme (in my opinion, that is not ''new art'' but just being lazy to come up with some good rhymes)

-the stories were extremely unclear.

334577 He's actually a hater. "one of many/ Of those who hate" (4) and "The Hater of all Haters" (Coltridge 1). "Harmonies" in this case is the musical kind, though in the context of "I am Man" meant both Sol and Luna spoke simultaneously i.e. a harmony. I would understand how one would think the Elements of Harmony considering the series this fan-fic is based on. :twilightsheepish:

Sleeping, awakening, what does it mean? Literally, metaphorically, a plot device? Try and read just a section of "The Wasteland" by T.S. Eliot, and see if everything makes sense the first time. It's all about interpretation.

You might as well keep it negative, because (for the poem anyway) it is suppose to be vague and free of rhyme and meter (but not too much to the point of being written in novel form like in the second and third works "[Tale] An Old Legend from the Tellings of the Mint Green Unicorn - CR" and "[Story] Barrett of Equestria" respectively. If you really don't like the poem, or even the second work, just skip to the third one. You can just leave and read poems that rhyme, by which then sir I wish you a good time.

I do thank you for your criticism though, much appreciated.

340007 I'm not really sure how to interpret that post (good thing or insult?), but that's a pretty cool song. :pinkiehappy:

350850 You got it. The idea in the [Tale] is a homage to the Samurai Jack intro, as well as the initial concept in "Barrett of Equestria". Hurray someone remembers the show! You'll find that "Barrett of Equestria" is a homage to all of the great cartoons from the 1990s to early 2000s (plus of course, MLP).
