Chapter 14: Tesla In Canterlot
The train journey to Canterlot was almost over, they were arriving earlier than expected. Tesla was asleep, as was Twilight, Rainbow Dash and Applejack. Rarity was reading a fashion magazine that she found underneath her chair, Fluttershy was just looking out of the window and Pinkie was playing a harmonica,
"This journey is so long!" She sung before playing a little melody, "So I'm singing this song!"
"Pinkie, darling" Rarity said, "We've got about another five minutes before we get there, just be a bit more patient"
"OKAY, Rarity!" Pinkie said as she bounced in her seat.
The train went through another tunnel, whilst in the darkness, Twilight's head listed lazily to the side as it fell on Tesla's neck. Once the train exited the dark tunnel, Applejack's head was now bumping against the seat in front of her, Rainbow Dash was now upside down in her chair and Pinkie's harmonica had been replaced with a saxophone and she was playing the solo to "Baker Street" whilst wearing sunglasses and a black fedora hat, how she did that was anypony's guess, but they ignored it, because it was Pinkie and that's what she does. Rarity looked over beside her to see Applejack's head bouncing off the chair in front of her, the sight made Rarity chuckle, then she looked over to her other side to see Twilight snug against Tesla, it made Rarity slightly jealous but she still laughed. Rarity nudged Applejack twice, Applejack dozily woke up until she adjusted to her woken state,
"Applejack, look at this" Rarity said as she pointed to Twilight and Tesla.
"Huh, two lovebirds" Applejack chuckled.
Pinkie looked behind her seat to see them snoozing together, Pinkie slid her sunglasses down her snout slightly to see more clearly,
"Aww, they look soooo CUTE!" Pinkie said.
"Yeah.." Fluttershy said quietly.
Rarity leaned over the open space between her and Twilight and gave her a small tap on her foreleg,
"Twilight. Wakey wakey" Rarity loudly whispered.
"Huh....?" Twilight questioned.
She looked around to see all her friends, with the exception of Rainbow Dash, looking at her with small joking smiles,
"What's going on?" Twilight yawned to all her but was looking at Pinkie.
Pinkie moved her eyes to the pony beside her, "See for yourself, Twilight"
Twilight moved her eyes in the direction Pinkie's eyes were moving towards, until she saw Tesla beside her, with her on his neck, her eyes widened, she looked down Tesla, then up again, then her eyes widened more, she shot up to sit up straight, and blushed as she fixed her fringe to cover her face slightly from her friends,
"Oh um...." Twilight stuttered.
"Twilight, it was just a small accident, you moved in your sleep, it's okay, dear" Rarity said.
"Yeah, hon. We won't tell anypony about it" Applejack said, "You should also wake 'im up"
Twilight shook Tesla lightly whilst saying his name in order for him to wake up, after shaking him for about twenty seconds, he finally woke up,
"Are we there?" Tesla asked.
"Yeah, Nikola. We just arrived" Twilight replied.
"Well, let's hope this journey wasn't all for nothing" Tesla said as he stretched his forelegs.
Stepping out the train station onto the streets of Canterlot was different for Tesla, gone was the cottages and gone was the dirt paths. He felt much more, at home here than he did in Ponyville. Tesla was impressed by Canterlot,
"It's very nice here" Tesla said.
"I knew you would like it here, Nikola" Rarity told him.
"It's very..." Tesla tried to find the right word.
"Sophisticated?" Rarity optioned.
"Yes, that" Tesla agreed.
"More like snobby" Applejack mumbled to herself.
"Twilight, since we're a little bit early, is it okay for me to show Nikola around Canterlot for a little while?" Rarity asked.
"Yeah that's fine, Rarity" Twilight said, "Just be at the palace in half an hour"
"Thank you, Twilight" Rarity smiled, "Come on, Nikola. I'll show you around"
Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie and Applejack arrived at the palace gates, they approached the two guards at the gate,
"Excuse mister" Twilight said to one of them, "Can we please see Princess Celestia?"
"Of course, Miss Sparkle. The Princess' will be pleased to see you again, welcome back"
"Thank you mister" Twilight smiled, "Oh, also, if you see Rarity with another pony, please let them both in"
"Of course, Miss Sparkle" The guard replied.
The five mares entered to the Palace grounds and made their way towards the throne room, as they all knew that's where they would be waiting. Once they made it in there, the five were first greeted by a light brown Unicorn guard standing beside a white Pegasus,
"Welcome back" The guard said.
Then they were greeted by the two Princesses,
"Hello, girls. You're early" Princess Celestia greeted.
"Greetings, girls" Princess Luna greeted after her older sister.
"Yeah, the train got here earlier than expected" Twilight told Celestia.
"Where is this Nikola fellow you've been telling me about?" Celestia asked, "And Rarity for that matter?"
"Rarity insisted on showing Nikola around Canterlot, since we were early I thought why not. Besides, if Nikola were here, it would take him about three or four hours to make the machine for the demonstration anyways" Twilight told the Princess.
"Well, I don't have much to do today, I can wait until he finishes making it. But how come he couldn't bring the other complete machine?" Celestia asked.
"It's in my basement and it's fairly large, it would take forever to dismantle it a bring it here bit by bit" Twilight explained.
"Okay then" Celestia said, "I'll wait"
"Ooh Nikola, darling. You look devilish handsome in that suit" Rarity said to Tesla, complimenting the suit he was wearing.
The two were in a men's clothing store, Rarity had coaxed him to go in there, stating that wearing a suit would be "better for presentation", Tesla actually agreed, as he almost always wore suits in his home world, especially during presentations for his inventions and experiments,
"You think it looks good?" Tesla made sure.
"Very" Rarity replied, "I'll buy it for you. It's my treat"
"Thank you Rarity" Tesla said.
"Pleasure's all mine, Nikola" Rarity smiled.
Rarity paid for the suit, it cost her forty bits, which is a fairly small price for a high quality suit,
"Looks good enough for presentation, no?" Tesla asked again.
"Well, come to think of it, there's one thing missing" Rarity said.
"And what's that?" Tesla asked.
"Your tie" Rarity said.
"Oh, the suit came with a tie?" Tesla asked.
"Yes, it should be in your jacket pocket" Rarity told him.
Tesla got the tie out of his pocket and tried to put it on, he struggled to sort it out,
"Need help with that?" Rarity asked.
"I've got it" Tesla said as he struggled more with tying his tie, due to his hooves.
"Come here" Rarity said.
Tesla gave in and went over to Rarity and she fixed up his tie with her magic,
"There. Better" She said.
"Thank you Rarity" Tesla replied.
"Your welcome" Rarity smiled, "We should probably start heading to the palace, darling"
"Lead the way" Tesla said.
Tesla and Rarity were walking over to the palace, on the way there, they were just casually chatting,
"So, Nikola. How are you enjoying your time in Equestria?" Rarity asked.
"I'd be enjoying it more if I was in my human form" Tesla told her.
"Damn it, that's another bet I lost" Rarity said to herself under her breath.
"Pardon me, Rarity?" Tesla questioned.
"Oh, yes, me and Applejack made a bet to see if you were human or not, turns out you are so I guess I lost" Rarity told him.
"Wait, there's humans in your world?" Tesla asked.
"No, sorry I got your hopes up, but there isn't, not to my knowledge at least, though there is this girl I know called Lyra, she's obsessed with humans, that's how I know about them" Rarity said.
"Oh right" Tesla said.
"You miss your home?" Rarity asked.
"Kind of, I was never really always in the same place, I was always moving, I never had much of a proper home" Tesla said.
"That's a shame" Rarity said.
"Well, at least I sort of have a temporary residence here in Equestria, I suppose" Tesla told her.
"Yeah, that's a good thing" Rarity said happily.
The two made it over to the palace gates, in which one of the guards greeted Rarity,
"Hello, Miss Rarity. Is this the stallion who's meant to meet with the Princesses?" The guard asked.
"He is" Rarity replied.
"Okay, just making sure" The guard told her.
The two walked onto the palace grounds and walked their way to the throne room, whilst Rarity was getting greets and glances from the guards,
"Should be almost there" Rarity said.
Once they made it to the throne room, all of the ponies in the room looked at Tesla in his new suit, it made an impression. All of them, even the two guards in the room, thought he looked good. It made Twilight feel funny, and also Princess Luna, she thought he was already making a good impression and he hasn't said a word yet,
"So, you're this Mr. Nikola Tesla Twilight has been telling me about?" Celestia asked.
"That I am, your Highness" Tesla replied.
"Twilight has been telling me you have a machine that can transport objects without magic" Celestia said.
"And she is correct, Princess..." Tesla paused.
"Celestia" She told him.
"...Celestia. Twilight has been telling you the truth, but with my machine being very large, it would have been difficult to transport it over here, your Grace. But I am willing to build another, even if it is just for a brief demonstration" Tesla told her.
"Yes, Twilight informed of that, Mr. Tesla" Celestia said, "She also told me, it would take you three hours or more to make?"
"Yes, I'll try and get it complete as fast as I can, your Highness" Tesla said.
"Take all the time you need" Celestia said.
Two hours and fifty minutes later, the machine was complete. It looked almost identical to the one in Ponyville. Tesla gathered his resources with the help of Twilight and the rest from the Canterlot junkyard, then they helped him developed the machine together. He was now making his demonstration to the Princesses look like a professional presentation, it made him feel like he was back in his own world,
"Princesses, this machine that you see before your very eyes, is a machine that can change Equestrian history and Human history, forever, with that said, it will be revolutionary for Equestria as it can transport objects without magic and it will be revolutionary for Human history as the machine that can transport objects though science. Before we begin, I need a small object" Tesla told the Princesses.
"Oh, um..." Luna paused.
"Well, me and my sister have our metal slippers, if that's any use to you" Celestia optioned.
"Wonderful. If I may?" Tesla asked.
"You can borrow mine, sir" Luna said as she raised her hoof.
Tesla approached Princess Luna and slid off her silver slipper from her hoof,
"Thank you, Princess" Tesla thanked.
He went back to the machine and placed the slipper in the pod-like machine, he then went back to his presentation,
"If we take this small silver slipper, I will turn on my machine and the slipper will disappear" Tesla told the Princesses, "But do not be alarmed, Princess Luna. Because within two to three minutes, it shall re-appear on the other side of the room"
Luna leaned forward as she was more interested in the machine,
"Are you watching closely?" Tesla asked.
Tesla flicked a few switches on the machine before a few sounds came from the machine. Then several streams of electricity surrounded the slipper, before it popped away in a bright yellow flash. Celestia still kept her neutral face, but Luna was more surprised, the two guards at the door were also surprised,
"Artemis" The light-brown one whispered.
"Yeah?" The white one whispered back.
"That just fucking happened?" He asked.
"Yep" He whimpered.
"We're leaving in ten minutes, okay?" He quietly made sure.
"Right behind you"
After another three and a half minutes, a small fizzle came from the far right side of the room, before it erupted into a large flash of light, and midst the light, the slipper re-appeared. Luna's eyes widened as she saw her slipper re-appear there, she then looked at Tesla and back at her slipper,
"What do you think?" Tesla asked the Princesses.
"I haven't made up my opinion yet. I'll get back to you later, Mr. Tesla" Celestia said.
"Of course, your Highness" Tesla replied.
Later on, in a storage cupboard. Incognito and Mimic were discussing what they saw during the presentation,
"Okay, there's no way that was possible" Mimic said.
"Dude, we both saw it with our own fucking eyes!" Incognito said.
"It must've been a trick" Mimic said.
"It wasn't any fucking trick, brother. We need to tell Masai" Incognito told him.
"Tell him what? That we saw a guy make something move from one place to another without any magic? Nito, he'll never fucking believe us" Mimic replied.
"He said report to him the unusual stuff" Incognito said.
"This is beyond unusual, brother" Mimic said.
"Wait. Kephri knows a spell that can help Masai see it, it can like show a projection of what we saw" Incognito explained.
"Brilliant, because we need to tell him about this. I'm just worried about how he's going to react"
if you don't know the song "Baker Street" that Pinkie was playing, then here's a reminder, you'll know the song when you hear it
Also, next chapter will be called "The Inventor and Chaos"
