This Island Alaska

Alaska Snow and High Life, two ponies from wholly different lifestyles, find themselves stranded on a cliche in the middle of the ocean. Bickering, hilarity, and sea ponies ensue.

(This was my application to the Legends of Equestria writing team, where we were required to write a story of less than 2,000 words with the prompt, "Sea ponies save Alaska.")

That non-sequitur ending was brilliant!

Also, I ship Alaska and Bubbleshine. They go on aquatic adventures together, and fall in love, and they share a special moment where Bubbleshine shows him how beautiful the play of moonlight across the surface of the ocean is from underneath.

And then, heartache!

Alaska has to choose, Bubbleshine, or his frigid mountain home. After all, Bubbleshine can't follow him. Even if he managed to find a way to get her to one of the lakes, they freeze over during the winter...
