Chapter 42: PFUDOR

I stumbled as I fell through the portal, bumping into some of the ponies that were still filing out of the Boutique’s basement. “Sorry…” I said sheepishly as I quickly backed towards the mirror. I turned back towards it, squirming anxiously as I waited Liz for to come through. She’d shown some hesitation as we’d approached, but didn’t seem likely to just walk away.

She’d never do that.

The portal flashed brightly. As I covered my eyes from the brightness, a figure was sent sailing from the portal, and landed in a dusty pile of cardboard boxes in the far corner.

“Liz!” I cried, hurrying over. “You okay?!”

For a moment, there was no response.

Then, with a shuffling of boxes, the pony rose up, a blank expression on her face.

I stared at the pink fluffball of a pony. “...Liz?”

Liz blew a raspberry in response.

Billy read the chapter, frowning in confusion.

"Boss?" He said, turning slowly in his chair. "What exactly was the point of this--"

He stopped when he realized that Boss was leaning in DANGEROUSLY close towards his face. Billy made a couple soft whimpers in an attempt to speak, yet couldn't utter a single word.

Boss gently licked Billy's cheek with the barest tip of his tongue before slowly leaning away. Billy remained perfectly still as he watched Boss slowly back away, fading into the darkness.

When he was sure Boss was finally gone, Billy slowly turned back towards his computer.

He was greeted by Boss's face, staring at him from the other side of the screen.

I was going to ask why the chapter was so short and strange, but then I noticed that the first comment was on April 1.
That explains so much. You fooled me.
Interesting chapter title for rule chapter 34... Great, now I've got myself thinking of porn...not to mention a delicious cake that I must eat.

Preamble-I was supposed to be asleep 7 hours ago, don't bash me too hard if I digress or ramble.

It's no secret that amount of 'human-turned-pony' stories was always ridiculous. Neither is it a stretch to guess that 99% of those are complete crap. 5s/4 was a very pleasant break from general rubbish that is uploaded in this (sub-genre?) daily, but with it came a number of side fics. I didn't read all of those, of course, but my general impression is that they tend to be of very little quality. Your story was treading a very fine line for about first dozen chapters-you were coming ever so closely to completely falling into a rushed self-insert Mary Sue with video-game powers (guess which chapter was my least favourite) kind of tale, but somehow you managed to avoid it. Actually, all throughout the story I can FEEL the writing improvements-or maybe it's just my sleep-addled mind.
Whichever it is, I was planning to go to sleep at 1 at night, after merely checking out one chapter. Yeah, y'know, f-it, it's 09:28 and I have no regrets. Today's the day off, anyway... This story, despite the fact that I already read complete original 5s/4, still held my attention through and through. Loving your portrayal of characters, and the fact that while you're focusing on Chrys, you're not ditching others because they're 'just sidekick' or some such nonsense.
Also, Digit's a cutie.
P.S. while I may be somewhat... un-gripped (is that even a word?) by the whole Prima-boss-battle, I gotta admit, that build up and dialogue leading to the fight were actually damn good, and the 'combat' (I use this term loosely) provided good comedy relief. Too bad it felt out of place when battling a monstrous abomination from across the worlds. I mean, seriously? T-Rex? Gotta draw the line somewhere.

TL;DR - started average, turned out to be a cool story.
