Long long ago, a brave writer joined a pony IRC channel. He brought with him the gift of flashfics: stories to be written and edited in the span of thirty minutes, on predetermined, one-word prompts. They rarely reach a thousand words, if ever. The tales they tell, however, are just as great as any other.

Here are some of the more fruitful attempts of one particular author's work.

It's a hot day in Ponyville. Nothing special. Nothing at all. One pony is even happy about it.

For little over two months my team had been studying the creatures of the forest we call Everfree, we knew so little about it and have no doubt our research would shed great light on how the forest works. Alas, no pony will ever know of our findings, nor what might be the most dangerous creature ever discovered. It was so sudden, one by one we were getting separated, and when that happen we never saw that pony again.

I’m all alone now, the last of my team and as my fire slowly burns away, I fear I will be taken any moment. I don’t know this creature’s origins nor why it’s been following us. Food maybe? Perhaps protecting it’s territory? It matters not, we should have exited the forest weeks ago but it seems with every mile it stretches farther and wider, never ending. Is this the creature’s doing? I only ever got one good look at it, when it snatched away my best friend the night before...it resembles that of a pony but at the same time, perhaps we discovered a new breed of pony that lived and thrived in the forest?

I don’t think it is, it seems too...unnatural but the idea shouldn’t be objected. It’s ashamed that no pony will ever know of our findings, even now I can catch faint glimpses of it every now and again. It’s biding it’s time, waiting until my fire is out and I’m left in total darkness. If anypony, any pony at all ever finds my journals, I beg you...share the knowledge within them to not only safe yourself, but to finally stop this creature. If only I had more time, I could do it but I am sure my fire won’t make the trip back.

Also be wary of the creatures that surrounds it, while I discovered it’s fear, they seem to not share it. Fire nearly out now, if by Celestia’s will my fellow comrades discovers my journals, please forgive me...it’s all my fault and I can’t apologize enough..I’m so sorry, I never meant for any of us to………………………………………..

This story takes place a few years before Twilight met the Mane5, so if any seems out of character or something it's because "they hadn't learn the lessons with Twilight yet". So keep that in mind, not sure what else to say. XD P.S may rewrite the "journal" above, wasn't sure what else to put here. XD Also may update the tags later, like if I decide to add gore (you know, like blood as that will appear later but unsure if should mark the gore option)

Derpy Hooves, ace mailmare extraordinaire, has a birthday like other ponies. Thrown by the mane 6, she thinks it's going to be great.
