Every story focuses on the hero and some focus on the villain, but few focus on the one who plays the long game, the one who take moons to play a single piece in the Grand game of chess. The scales are always balanced; you don't often see why.

in this story, the character Eclipse a historian/scientist with seemingly no moral compass and no idea just how strong she has become writes a letter to twilight describing the history that has been lost by the ages and why she is contacting her, reviling just enuff to gain her trust without starting a war, probably.

In addition, she also wrights several chapters that are never seen by Twilight but are kept secret but describe how a lack of morals and a burning passion for learning developed the current timeline.

included with most chapters is a self-drawn picture that relates to the chapter you can also see them all by clicking the link (the link will take you to my twitter, I use it for all the photos I link so you might have to scroll a bit) Chapter pictures I have moved the library to deviant art, the new link is Deviant Art link

Long before Hearth's Warming, the three pony tribes were constantly giving each other grief. Whether it was through tough trade arrangements, diplomatic nightmares, or even skirmishes along borders, the three tribes despised each other, while also relying on each other. There had even been several wars in the past, but nothing that would even remotely compare to the Great War, which began fifty years before Hearth's Warming. This is an account of that war.

This story takes place in the land of the three tribes, far from Equestria. In the north lay the Unicorn Kingdom, a monarchy led by the head of the royal family. To the East was the Pegasus Nation, led by the council of Admiralty. To the West dwelt the Earth Ponies in the Earthen Republic, led by elected representatives throughout the tribe.

The true story of the founding of Equestria. Well, just after the founding. After all, Luna and Celestia weren't actually around back then.

In other words:
The backstory of the series is quite confusing at times, with many scenes that I wish were featured. There are many stories of how Luna became Nightmare Moon, but none with my flair. And none of them, I'm sure, are quite so ridiculous.

There shall be no shipping of any sort. If there is, you shall be warned, and it will not be an important detail.
