I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in preparation to starting the final arch of Agent's of Discord, and in Chapter one we get the line "..it was a gigantic snake, at least twelve feet long." And it occurred to me that 12 feet isn't really all that long. Sure, most snakes are little dinky things. Rattle snakes average between 3 to 6 feet with a maximum recorded around 8 feet. That said the average python length is 10 to 16 feet. Suddenly twelve feet isn't huge anymore.
